On a computer, go to youtube.com/paid_memberships, click Deactivate, then Continue to cancel and choose a reason. Benefits continue until the end of the billing period. If you joined inside the YouTube iOS app, Apple bills you and you cancel in Apple Subscriptions instead.

Cancel YouTube Premium, step by step.
On a computer
This is the most reliable route, and the same page confirms afterwards whether the membership is actually cancelled.
- Go to youtube.com/paid_memberships signed in to the Google Account that pays.
- Click Deactivate.
- Click Continue to cancel and select your reason for cancelling.
- Return to the same page to confirm the membership now shows as cancelled.
YouTube also offers a pause of the membership as an alternative to cancelling.
In the YouTube app on Android
For a Google-billed membership started on Android or the web.
- Tap your profile picture and select Paid memberships.
- Tap the membership you want to cancel.
- Tap Continue to cancel, select your reason and tap Next.
- Tap Yes, cancel to finish.
In the YouTube app on iPhone or iPad
A membership bought inside the iOS app is billed by Apple, so YouTube hands you off to Apple to finish.
- In the YouTube app, tap Settings, then Purchases and memberships.
- Tap the membership you want to cancel.
- Tap Manage Apple Subscriptions, which opens Apple’s subscription settings.
- Cancel the subscription in Apple Subscriptions and keep Apple’s confirmation.
Before you cancel.
- Check which Google Account holds the membership. Signing in with a different account is the most common reason a membership appears to be missing.
- Work out whether you have YouTube Premium, YouTube Music Premium, or a YouTube TV membership — YouTube TV is a separate subscription with its own cancellation page.
- If you are on a family plan, note that the family manager controls the membership for the whole group.
What happens next?
- Your paid membership benefits continue until the end of the billing period, and you are not charged again unless you re-subscribe.
- Ad-free viewing, background play and offline downloads stop when the membership ends; downloaded videos become unavailable.
- Confirm the cancellation by revisiting youtube.com/paid_memberships — YouTube says that page reflects the current state of the membership.

Is YouTube Premium the same as YouTube TV?
No. They are separate subscriptions with separate prices and separate cancellation pages. Check which one your receipt names before cancelling.
Can I pause YouTube Premium instead of cancelling?
Yes. YouTube documents pausing and resuming a Premium or Music Premium membership as an alternative to cancelling. The option appears in the same membership settings.
Why can I not cancel YouTube Premium in the iPhone app?
Because Apple bills memberships bought inside the iOS app. YouTube’s iOS flow takes you to Manage Apple Subscriptions, where Apple — not YouTube — completes the cancellation.
I cannot find my membership at youtube.com/paid_memberships.
You are almost certainly signed in to a different Google Account. Switch accounts and check again. If the membership was bought on iOS, it may also be visible only through Apple Subscriptions.
Do I lose my downloads and playlists?
Playlists, subscriptions and history stay with your Google Account. Premium-only features — offline downloads, background play and ad-free viewing — stop when the membership ends.
