STREAMINGSubscription cancellation guide

How to cancel Crunchyroll membership.

To cancel a Crunchyroll membership you pay for on crunchyroll.com, click your profile picture, then Settings, then Membership Info, then Cancel Subscription, and click No thanks, Finish Cancellation. If you signed up in the Crunchyroll app, the membership is linked to your Apple or Google account: in the app tap your profile, then Membership, Manage, and Cancel Subscription. Amazon, PlayStation, Roku and YouTube Primetime memberships are cancelled on those platforms. Crunchyroll states you can cancel your Premium membership at any time and keep your Premium perks until the billing period ends, and that deleting your account does not prevent charges.

Before you start.

  • Check how you are billed. Crunchyroll states you can see it on crunchyroll.com under your profile icon, then Settings, then Membership Info, and that a membership through another service such as PlayStation appears there with a link to that platform.
  • If you cannot log in to Crunchyroll at all, look at the service you signed up with. Crunchyroll states that if you subscribed through a separate platform such as Amazon Prime Video or The Roku Channel, your subscription information is in that service rather than on the Crunchyroll website or app.
  • Cancel before your billing date. Crunchyroll states that to avoid charges you cancel before your next renewal date, and that you keep all your Premium perks until your subscription ends.
  • On an annual plan, find the renewal date. Crunchyroll states an annual subscription renews on the same date each year, based on when you first subscribed or were last billed.
  • Do not delete the account to stop billing. Crunchyroll states that deleting your account does not prevent charges, and that you need to cancel your Premium membership first.
  • Deleting the app, logging out or removing your payment method does not cancel anything either. Crunchyroll states that membership charges continue until you cancel through the method you used to sign up.

FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE

Cancel Crunchyroll, step by step.

Cancel on the Crunchyroll website

This is the route for a membership you pay Crunchyroll for directly on crunchyroll.com, by credit card or PayPal. Crunchyroll states you see the cancel option in your account settings in that case.

  1. Using a web browser, log in to your Crunchyroll account and select your profile.
  2. Click your profile picture in the top-right corner, then click Settings from the drop-down menu.
  3. Go to Membership Info, then Cancel Subscription.
  4. Click No thanks, Finish Cancellation.
  5. Optionally share feedback and click Submit and exit, or click Skip and exit.

Crunchyroll states you keep all of your Premium perks until your membership expires at the end of your billing period. If you change your mind, it states you can cancel your cancellation any time before the billing cycle ends.

Cancel on iPhone (billed by Apple)

Crunchyroll states that a membership started in the Crunchyroll app on iOS is linked to your Apple account, so you will not see the option to cancel on Crunchyroll's website.

  1. In the Crunchyroll app, tap your profile at the bottom right, then tap Membership.
  2. Tap Manage.
  3. Swipe to your current membership tier, then tap Cancel Subscription.
  4. Scroll down and tap Continue with Cancellation.
  5. In the Apple screen that opens, tap Crunchyroll, then tap Cancel subscription.
  6. Without the app: open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap Crunchyroll and tap Cancel Subscription.

Apple states that if there is no Cancel button or you see an expiration message in red text, the subscription is already cancelled. If Crunchyroll is missing, check every Apple Account in the household.

Cancel on Android (billed by Google Play)

Crunchyroll states that a membership started in the Crunchyroll app on Android is linked to your Google account, so the website will not show a cancel option.

  1. In the Crunchyroll app, tap your profile at the bottom right, then tap Membership.
  2. Tap Manage.
  3. Swipe to your current membership tier, then tap Cancel Subscription.
  4. Scroll down and tap Continue with Cancellation.
  5. In the Google Play screen that opens, tap Crunchyroll, then tap Cancel subscription.
  6. Without the app: in the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, select Crunchyroll and select Cancel subscription.

Crunchyroll states that if you cannot find the subscription in Google Play, you should check all of the accounts connected to your Google Play Wallet, because it may be linked to another account's payment method.

Cancel Crunchyroll billed by Amazon, PlayStation, Roku or YouTube

Crunchyroll states that a membership linked to a partner service has to be cancelled directly on that platform, that you will not see a cancel option on crunchyroll.com, and that its support team cannot manage that account for you.

  1. Open Membership Info in your Crunchyroll account settings: Crunchyroll states the link there takes you to the platform you used to sign up.
  2. Amazon: go to Your Memberships and Subscriptions on amazon.com, find Crunchyroll, select Manage Subscription and select Cancel Subscription under Advanced Controls.
  3. PlayStation: open the subscriptions section of your PlayStation account and cancel Crunchyroll there.
  4. Roku: go to my.roku.com/subscriptions, select Crunchyroll under Active subscriptions, select Manage subscription, then select Turn off auto-renew.
  5. YouTube Primetime Channels: go to youtube.com/paid_memberships, find the Crunchyroll channel under Digital purchases & rentals and click Deactivate, click Continue to cancel, choose a reason and click Next, then click Yes, cancel.
  6. Keep the platform's own confirmation, since Crunchyroll will have no record of a cancellation it did not process.

What happens next?

  • Crunchyroll states you keep all your Premium perks until your membership expires at the end of the billing period, so a cancellation made early in the month does not cut access that day.
  • Crunchyroll states you can cancel your cancellation any time before your billing cycle ends if you change your mind.
  • Cancelling keeps the account. Crunchyroll states that your account stays intact, along with your watch history, watchlists, preferences and settings.
  • An annual membership renews on the same date each year, so cancelling stops the next renewal rather than returning the months you have already paid for.
  • A membership paid with a gift card and no payment method needs no cancellation. Crunchyroll states it ends automatically once your gift access has ended.

Cancelling a Crunchyroll free trial.

How do I cancel a Crunchyroll free trial?

Crunchyroll's cancellation help does not describe a separate trial route: how you cancel depends on how you are billed, in the same places as a paid membership. It states that to avoid charges you cancel before your billing date. For a trial started in the iPhone app, Apple advises cancelling at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

Pausing or freezing Crunchyroll.

Can I pause my Crunchyroll membership?

Only if Google Play bills you. Crunchyroll states that a Google Play subscription can be paused in the Crunchyroll app for Android: tap your account, then Membership, then Manage, find your tier, tap Cancel Subscription, scroll down and tap Pause my Subscription. For any other billing method, it states there is currently no way to pause, and suggests cancelling and resubscribing later.

WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK

If you get stuck.

There is no cancel option in my Crunchyroll account

Crunchyroll lists four causes. You may be logged in to a different account, so check your inboxes for Crunchyroll receipts. Your membership may be linked to Apple or Google, in which case you cancel in the Crunchyroll app or the store. You may have no payment method attached because you used a gift card, so it ends on its own. Or a transaction is processing: Crunchyroll states to wait 24 hours, then chat with Crunchyroll Support if the option has not reappeared.

I deleted my Crunchyroll account and I am still being charged

Crunchyroll states that deleting your account does not prevent charges, and that cancelling your membership is the only way to prevent future charges. Cancel with whoever bills you: in Settings, Membership Info on crunchyroll.com for a direct membership, or in Apple, Google Play, Amazon, PlayStation, Roku or YouTube for a store or partner membership.

I cannot log in to Crunchyroll to cancel

If you subscribed through a separate platform such as Amazon Prime Video or The Roku Channel, Crunchyroll states you will not be able to log in or see your account settings on Crunchyroll, and your subscription information is in the service you used to sign up. Cancel it there. If you simply lost the login, Crunchyroll has a separate help article for recovering a lost account.

I cannot find Crunchyroll in my Google Play subscriptions

Crunchyroll states you should check all of the accounts connected to your Google Play Wallet, because the subscription may be linked to another account's payment method by mistake.

I cancelled Crunchyroll but a charge keeps coming

Compare the merchant name on the charge with where you cancelled. Crunchyroll is easy to hold twice through different platforms, for example once on the website and again in a console or phone app, and cancelling one does nothing to the other. Each one has to be cancelled where it was bought.

Crunchyroll states you then receive a privacy request email from Sony to confirm, that processing may take a few business days, and that deletion is permanent.
