How to cancel Hulu subscription.

This is the route the Subscriber Agreement gives for a Hulu subscription Hulu bills. Use a web browser rather than the app, which routes you to whichever store sold the plan.

1. Go to hulu.com/account in a web browser and log in.
2. Check who is named as the billing party before looking for the button.
3. Click Cancel.
4. Work through every screen. Offers and alternatives can appear before the final confirmation, and stopping at one of them leaves the subscription running.
5. Keep the confirmation and the end date it gives you.

The agreement states you must cancel before 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on the day before your next billing date. Cancelling the base plan is not the same as removing add-ons, so check those separately.

Disney sells Hulu bundled with Disney+, and with HBO Max in the Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max Bundle. A bundle is one subscription, so cancelling it ends every service in it, which is rarely what someone searching for how to cancel Hulu wants.

1. Work out where the bundle is managed. HBO Max directs bundle subscribers to hulu.com/account or disneyplus.com/account.
2. To end everything billed through Disney+, the agreement gives the route: go to disneyplus.com/account/cancel-subscription, log in and click Cancel Subscription.
3. To keep Disney+ and drop Hulu, look for a plan change in your account rather than a cancellation, and check what the remaining service costs on its own first.
4. On a 6-month bundle plan, Disney's terms state that a cancellation made during the initial 6-month term takes effect at the end of that term.

The agreement also warns that if you switch from one service to another during your billing period, you may not keep access to your original service.

Add-ons are separate charges on the Hulu bill, and they are a common reason a Hulu charge survives a cancellation. HBO Max directs its Hulu add-on subscribers to hulu.com/account and Hulu's Manage add-ons page.

1. Sign in at hulu.com/account in a web browser.
2. Find the add-ons section of the account page.
3. Remove each add-on you no longer want, one at a time.
4. Check the total for the next billing period after the removals.

An HBO Max add-on bought through Hulu is not the same as the Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max Bundle. The add-on is a separate line on a Hulu bill, while the bundle is one subscription covering three services.

Hulu sells subscriptions inside its iPhone and iPad app, and a signup made there puts Apple in charge. The agreement states that a subscription obtained through a third party is cancelled by following that third party's instructions.

1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad and tap your name.
2. Tap Subscriptions.
3. Tap the Hulu subscription.
4. Tap Cancel Subscription. If there is no Cancel button or you see an expiration message in red text, Apple states it is already cancelled.

If Hulu is not in the list, check every Apple Account in the household. A subscription is only visible on the Apple Account that bought it.

A signup made in the Hulu app on an Android phone or tablet is billed by Google Play, and only Google Play can stop it.

1. Open the Google Play Store app.
2. Tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
3. Select Hulu.
4. Select Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.

Uninstalling the app does not cancel a Google Play subscription. If Hulu is missing from the list, the Google account signed in is not the one paying.

This is the route most guides get wrong. Roku states that it processes the charge but Hulu manages the subscription, so turning things off in your Roku account is not how a Roku-billed Hulu plan ends.

1. Confirm Roku bills you: your statement shows a charge from Roku, and the subscription appears at my.roku.com/subscriptions.
2. Contact Hulu directly to cancel, through the Hulu Help Center. Roku states that even if it bills you for Hulu, you contact Hulu to manage or cancel the subscription.
3. If Hulu asks for your CIB (Customer Identifier for Billing) to find your account, Roku states it is on your Roku invoice, which you can open from your Roku purchase history.
4. Keep Hulu's confirmation of the cancellation and the end date.

Roku applies the same rule to Disney+ and Sling TV: it processes the charge, they manage the subscription.

Spotify sells Premium Student with Hulu (With Ads) included. That Hulu belongs to the Spotify plan, so nothing on hulu.com will end it.

1. Check whether Spotify appears as the merchant on your statement, or whether Hulu never appears as a separate charge at all.
2. Sign in to your Spotify account and open the plan page.
3. Change or cancel the Spotify plan that includes Hulu, following Spotify's own cancellation steps.
4. Expect the change to affect what you pay Spotify, since Hulu is part of that plan rather than a separate Hulu charge.

A Hulu account linked to Spotify still signs in at hulu.com and looks like a normal account. The billing is what differs, which is why the cancel option is missing there.

A signup made on a Fire TV device belongs to Amazon, and a Hulu plan bundled with a wireless or TV plan belongs to that provider. The agreement states that third-party subscriptions are governed by the third party's terms.

1. Amazon: go to Your Memberships and Subscriptions on amazon.com, find Hulu, select Manage Subscription and select Cancel Subscription under Advanced Controls.
2. A phone, internet or TV provider: sign in to that provider's account and remove Hulu from the plan or add-ons section, or contact the provider.
3. Keep the store or provider's confirmation, since Hulu will have no record of a cancellation it did not process.
