Do you qualify?
- Dashlane states the window is 30 days from the date you bought the subscription, and that cancelling within it qualifies for a full refund.
- The window runs from the purchase, not from when you stopped using Dashlane. A renewal you did not notice for two months is outside it.
- The refund is claimed after cancelling. Dashlane shows the refund link in the right panel of the Subscription page once the cancellation is complete.
- Purchases through Apple or Google Play fall under those stores' refund policies rather than Dashlane's, because that is who holds the money.
- Cancelling on its own is not a refund request. It stops the next charge and leaves the current period paid for.
ASK WHOEVER TOOK THE MONEY
How to request a Dashlane refund.
Ask Dashlane, for a card purchase on its website
This is the route when you paid Dashlane directly by credit card, which is also the only channel where the in-app cancellation appears.
- Check the purchase date first: Dashlane's window is 30 days from buying.
- Open Dashlane in a browser, open the Vault menu in the top left and select Subscription.
- Select Cancel your subscription in the right panel and complete the cancellation.
- Use the refund link Dashlane then shows in the right panel.
- If no link appears, contact Dashlane support through its help site and give the purchase date and the charge amount.
Dashlane places the refund link after the cancellation rather than before it, so closing the page at the cancellation confirmation is how people miss it.
Ask Apple, for an App Store purchase
Apple refunds the charges Apple collected. Dashlane cannot return money it never received, whatever its own window says.
- Go to Apple's report a problem site and sign in with the Apple Account that was charged.
- Find the Dashlane charge and choose the request a refund option.
- Select the reason that matches and submit it.
- Cancel the subscription separately in Settings, Subscriptions: a refund does not stop the renewal.
Ask Google, for a Play Store purchase
Google Play refunds Play charges, and its timing rules are tighter than Dashlane's.
- Open Google Play's refund request page signed in with the account that paid.
- Select the Dashlane order and follow the request flow.
- Google decides directly only within 48 hours of the charge; after that the request goes to the developer.
- Cancel the subscription in Play separately so it does not renew.
What happens next?
- Dashlane states credit card refunds take 3 to 5 business days to appear.
- A refund ends the plan rather than pausing it, so expect the account to move to the post-subscription state where Dashlane states passwords are export-only.
- Export your vault before the refund takes the plan away, for exactly that reason.
- A refund does not delete the account or the stored data, and it does not delete it later either.
WHEN THE ANSWER IS NO
If you are refused.
The refund link never appeared
It is shown after the cancellation completes, in the right panel of the Subscription page, so an incomplete cancellation is the usual cause. The other is the payment channel: the in-app flow is for website credit card purchases, so a PayPal, Apple or Play purchase will not produce a Dashlane refund link.
I am outside the 30 days
Dashlane's published window has closed, and cancelling now stops the next renewal rather than returning the last charge. If the charge was on Apple or Google Play, ask that store anyway: their policies are separate from Dashlane's and Apple in particular publishes no fixed deadline.
Dashlane says the charge is not on my account
Check which email address the receipt went to. A second Dashlane account created with a different address is the common cause, and support cannot see a charge on an account you are not signed into. Send them the charge date, the amount and the descriptor from your statement.
I was refunded but can no longer see my passwords
The refund ended the paid plan, and Dashlane states that after a subscription ends passwords are accessible for export only. The data is still there. Export it, or start a plan again to restore normal access to the same vault.
