SOFTWARE & PRODUCTIVITYSubscription refund guide

How to get a Speechify refund.

Speechify states you must contact it within 7 days from the date of the subscription, including any trial period, for it to be able to issue a refund. On an annual subscription it adds a usage test: you must have used no more than 500 HD words. The exclusions decide most cases. Speechify states that monthly, quarterly and discounted subscriptions are non-refundable, that it does not offer partial refunds, and that a subscription purchased through the Apple iTunes Store, its iOS application or the Google Play store is final and it will not provide a refund.

ASK WHOEVER TOOK THE MONEY

How to request a Speechify refund.

Ask Speechify within 7 days

This covers a web purchase billed through Stripe or PayPal, which is the only category Speechify refunds itself.

  1. Check the date on the receipt and count 7 days from the start of the subscription, including any trial period.
  2. Check your usage if the plan is annual: Speechify states the test is no more than 500 HD words used.
  3. Contact Speechify at support@speechify.com with the account email, the amount and the date.
  4. Say which of the grounds applies, since Speechify names account takeover used fraudulently and being charged in error as the cases it refunds.
  5. Cancel the subscription as well, because a refund on its own does not stop the next renewal.

Speechify also publishes a support telephone number alongside the email address for billing questions.

Charged by Apple

Speechify states outright that an App Store or iOS app purchase is final on its side, so the request goes to Apple, which holds the money and decides.

  1. Go to Apple's Report a Problem page and sign in with the Apple Account that was charged.
  2. Choose Request a refund and select a reason.
  3. Select the Speechify purchase or subscription and submit it.
  4. Wait for Apple's decision, which it usually gives within a couple of days.
  5. Cancel the subscription separately in Settings, your name, Subscriptions, since a refund does not cancel it.

Charged by Google Play

Speechify states a Google Play purchase is final on its side too. Google decides for a short window after the charge before handing the decision to the developer.

  1. Open play.google.com and sign in with the Google Account that was charged.
  2. Open Payments and subscriptions, then your order history.
  3. Find the Speechify charge and report a problem against it.
  4. Say clearly that you want a refund and submit the form.
  5. Note that once Google passes the decision to the developer, Speechify's stated policy is that Play purchases are final.

What happens next?

  • A refund goes back to the payment method that was charged, and card refunds take time to appear on a statement whenever they are issued.
  • A refund does not cancel the subscription. Cancel it on the channel that bills it or the next renewal arrives regardless.
  • Speechify states you keep Premium features until your next billing date after cancelling, so a refused refund still leaves the access you paid for.
  • If the request is refused because the purchase went through a store, the store's own process is the remaining route and it decides on its own rules rather than Speechify's.
  • Past the 7 days, Speechify's own policy closes entirely, and what remains is stopping the next charge.

WHEN THE ANSWER IS NO

If you are refused.

I am past 7 days

Speechify's own window has closed: it states you must contact it within 7 days from the date of the subscription, including any trial period, and that it does not offer partial refunds for a cycle you have partly used. If Apple or Google took the payment, their own processes still exist, though Apple publishes no deadline and Google's window is short before the decision passes back to the developer.

Speechify says my purchase is final because I bought it in the app

That matches its published policy. Speechify states that a subscription purchased through the Apple iTunes Store, its iOS application or the Google Play store is final and that it will not provide a refund. The store that took the money is the party that can return it, so the request belongs with Apple or Google.

My refund was refused although I barely used it

Check which plan you are on, because the usage test only helps annual subscribers. Speechify states that monthly, quarterly and discounted subscriptions are non-refundable outright, and that the under 500 HD words test applies to an annual subscription within 7 days of the payment. Low usage does not open a window that the plan type has closed.

I have been charged twice and want one of them back

Speechify names being charged in error as one of the two grounds it refunds within 7 days. Establish first whether it is genuinely a duplicate or a second subscription: Speechify documents that using a different account or email address creates a new account that can be prompted into its own premium trial. Cancel whichever one you do not want as well as asking for the refund.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered.

What is Speechify's refund policy?

Speechify states it issues refunds for purchases made in the past 7 days where the account was taken over and used fraudulently or where you were charged in error, and that you must contact it within 7 days from the date of the subscription, including any trial period.

What is the 500 HD words rule?

It is the usage test on an annual text to speech subscription. Speechify states that if you have used no more than 500 HD words you must contact it within 7 days of the payment for it to be able to issue a refund.

Can I get a refund for a monthly Speechify plan?

No. Speechify states that subscriptions purchased on a monthly, quarterly or discounted basis are non-refundable, and that it does not offer partial refunds for a billing cycle you have partly used.

Who refunds a Speechify charge made in the iPhone app?

Apple. Speechify states that a purchase through the Apple iTunes Store or its iOS application is final and that it will not provide a refund, so the request goes to Apple through its own refund process.
