Before you start.
- Know that the name changed, not the subscription. Apple states that "Apple TV+ is now simply Apple TV", so older receipts and lists may still say Apple TV+. It is the same subscription and cancels the same way.
- Check who bills you. Apple TV can be billed by Apple, by Google Play when you subscribed in the Android app, by Amazon, by a wireless carrier or other provider, or by Peacock when you took the Apple TV and Peacock Bundle through Peacock. Apple states that if you cannot find a receipt from Apple, you might have bought it from another company, and recommends checking your bank or card statement.
- If the subscription is a free offer that came with a new device, time the cancellation. Apple's offer terms state you can cancel at any time in Settings at least one day before each renewal date, but that if you cancel during the free offer period, you and your family members immediately lose access to Apple TV and the remainder of the free trial, and that you cannot reactivate the trial.
- Separate the Apple TV subscription from Apple TV channels. Apple states that the Apple TV subscription does not include third-party branded subscription services or content available for rental or purchase in the Apple TV app. Each channel is its own subscription and is cancelled on its own.
- Check whether the charge is Apple One rather than Apple TV. Apple One bundles Apple TV with other Apple services, and Apple's terms state that free trials or offers for an Apple subscription cannot be combined with a bundle such as Apple One.
- Note which Apple Account pays. Apple states that if a family member's Apple Account appears on the receipt, that family member has to cancel the subscription, because you cannot cancel a family member's subscription.
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel Apple TV, step by step.
Cancel on iPhone or iPad
The most common route for a subscription Apple bills, and the one Apple documents first.
- In Settings, tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap the Apple TV subscription.
- Tap Cancel Subscription. Apple notes you might need to scroll down to find the button.
- Check that the subscription now shows an expiration date rather than a renewal date.
Apple states that if there is no Cancel button, or you see an expiration message in red text, the subscription is already cancelled.
Cancel on Android
Two different billers are possible on Android, and they cancel in different places. Apple states that if you subscribe to Apple TV on your Android device and are billed through Google Play, you cancel in Google Play.
- If Google Play bills you: open the Apple TV app on your Android device and cancel there, or go to play.google.com. Apple states these are the only two places a Google Play-billed Apple TV subscription can be cancelled.
- In the Google Play Store app, the subscription sits under your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Select Apple TV and select Cancel subscription.
- If Apple bills you instead: go to account.apple.com in a browser, sign in to your Apple Account and follow the onscreen instructions.
- Check afterwards that the subscription shows an end date.
If Apple TV is missing from Google Play, it is probably billed by Apple, and the reverse is also true. The receipt email names the biller.
Cancel on the web, a smart TV or another device
This is the route for anyone without an iPhone to hand, including people who watch on a smart TV, a games console or a streaming stick. Apple publishes it as the way to cancel Apple TV on the web, and it works from any browser.
- Go to tv.apple.com.
- Choose Sign In at the top of the page. If you do not see Sign In, skip this step.
- Choose the account icon at the top of the page.
- Choose Settings.
- Scroll to Subscriptions and choose Manage.
- Choose Cancel Subscription.
Apple states that if you cannot cancel your subscription at tv.apple.com, you cancel it in Settings on an Apple device instead.
Cancel on an Apple TV 4K box
Many people searching for how to cancel Apple TV are sitting in front of the Apple TV box itself. Apple's Apple TV 4K guide puts subscriptions under your profile in Settings.
- Open Settings on Apple TV 4K.
- Go to Profiles and Accounts, choose your profile, then Subscriptions.
- Select the Apple TV subscription.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to cancel it.
Cancel on a Mac or Windows PC
The same Apple-billed subscription, reached through the App Store on a Mac or the Apple TV app on Windows.
- Mac: in the App Store, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, click your name again on the page that appears, click Subscriptions, click the Apple TV subscription, then click Cancel Subscription.
- Windows: open the Apple TV app, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar and choose View My Account.
- Scroll to the Settings section and click Manage next to Subscriptions.
- Find the Apple TV subscription, click Edit, then click Cancel Subscription.
Apple states that on Windows, if there is no Cancel or Cancel Subscription button, the subscription is already cancelled.
Apple TV inside an Apple One bundle
Apple One packages Apple TV with other Apple services in one subscription, so the charge reads Apple One rather than Apple TV.
- Open your Apple subscriptions and check whether the charge is named Apple One rather than Apple TV.
- If it is Apple One, decide whether you want a different Apple One plan or none at all, since the bundle is one subscription.
- Change the Apple One plan or cancel Apple One in the same Subscriptions list.
- Check what the remaining services would cost on their own before cancelling, because buying them individually usually costs more than the bundle.
Cancel Apple TV billed by Amazon, Peacock or a carrier
Apple TV is also sold by Amazon, through the Apple TV and Peacock Bundle, and by wireless carriers and other providers. In each case the company taking the money is the one that cancels it.
- Amazon: Apple states that if you pay for Apple TV through Amazon, you can cancel only through Amazon. A Prime Video channel subscription is cancelled from your Amazon memberships and subscriptions.
- Peacock: Apple states that if you subscribed to the Apple TV and Peacock Bundle through Peacock billing, you unsubscribe by managing the bundled subscription through Peacock.
- Wireless carrier or other provider: Apple states you contact that carrier or provider for support.
- Keep whatever confirmation that company gives you, since Apple will have no record of a cancellation it did not process.
What happens next?
- A cancelled subscription shows an expiration date instead of a renewal date. Apple states that an expiration message in red text means the subscription is already cancelled.
- Apple's terms state that when a subscription ends, you lose access to any functionality or content of that service that requires a subscription.
- A free device offer behaves differently: Apple's offer terms state that cancelling during the free period removes access for you and your family members immediately.
- Apple's terms state that if you cancel a free trial of a subscription Apple offers before it ends, you cannot reactivate that free trial.
- Films and shows you bought or rented in the Apple TV app are not part of the subscription. Apple states the Apple TV subscription does not include content available for rental or purchase, so those purchases are unaffected.
- Apple TV channels are separate subscriptions and keep renewing until you cancel each one.

How do I cancel an Apple TV free trial?
Cancel it in the same Subscriptions list as a paid plan. Apple advises cancelling a trial at least 24 hours before it ends if you do not want it to renew. For the free months that come with a new device, Apple's offer terms state that cancelling during the free period ends access immediately for you and your family and that the trial cannot be reactivated, so cancel near the end rather than on day one.

Apple TV is not in my Subscriptions list but I am still being charged
Apple gives the checks in order. Search your email for "receipt from Apple" or "invoice from Apple" and see which Apple Account the receipt names: if it is another of your accounts, sign in to that one, and if it is a family member's, they have to cancel. If there is no Apple receipt at all, Apple states you might have bought the subscription from another company, such as Google Play, Amazon or a carrier, and your bank or card statement names which.
I cancelled my free Apple TV months from a new iPhone and lost access straight away
That is what Apple's offer terms say happens. If you cancel during the free offer period, you and your family members immediately lose access to Apple TV and the rest of the free trial, and you cannot reactivate the trial. To use every free month, cancel near the end instead, at least one day before the renewal date, which the same terms give as the deadline for cancelling before a renewal.
The Apple TV app on my Android phone will not let me cancel
Check who bills you. Apple states that a subscription billed through Google Play can be cancelled only in the Apple TV app on Android or at play.google.com, while one billed by Apple is cancelled at account.apple.com in a browser. If the app shows no cancel option, the subscription is probably billed by Apple, so use account.apple.com or tv.apple.com.
I cancelled Apple TV but a channel in the Apple TV app is still charging me
Channels are not part of the Apple TV subscription. Apple states the Apple TV subscription does not include third-party branded subscription services, so each channel is its own subscription with its own renewal. Open the same Subscriptions list and cancel the channel separately.
I took the Apple TV and Peacock Bundle and cannot cancel it in Apple's settings
If Peacock bills the bundle, Apple's settings will not end it. Apple states that for the bundle bought through Peacock billing, you unsubscribe by managing the bundled subscription through Peacock. Sign in to your Peacock account and cancel there.
I want to drop Apple TV but keep Apple Music, and Apple One will not let me
Apple One is a single subscription rather than a collection of separate ones, so there is no control for removing one service from it. The options are a different Apple One plan, or cancelling Apple One and subscribing to the services you want individually, which usually costs more than the bundle.
Cancel Subscription is missing from the subscription page
Apple states that if there is no Cancel button, or you see an expiration message in red text, the subscription is already cancelled. If the page shows a renewal date and still no button, the subscription is billed elsewhere and the Apple page is only displaying it.
