GAMINGSubscription cancellation guide

How to cancel EA Play subscription.

Cancel EA Play wherever you bought it, because that is the only place that can stop the billing. Bought on a console, it is a PlayStation or Microsoft subscription and is cancelled in that account, not in the EA app. Bought through Steam it is a Steam subscription. Bought from EA on PC, it is cancelled in your EA account subscriptions page. Whichever route applies, the membership runs to the end of the paid period, and every game you played through the EA Play catalogue stops launching when it ends.

Before you start.

  • Find the receipt before you start. EA Play sold through PlayStation, Xbox, Steam or the Epic Games Store is billed by that platform, and EA cannot cancel a subscription it does not bill.
  • EA Play and EA Play Pro are different memberships at different prices, so check which one you actually hold before cancelling.
  • Understand what the catalogue is. Games in The Play List are included while you subscribe, not bought, so they stop working when the membership ends.
  • Trials are part of the membership too. Progress made in a ten-hour trial belongs to the full game, and it stays on your account for when you buy it, but you cannot reach it without either the membership or the game.
  • Check for stacked time. Prepaid EA Play codes extend the current term and cancelling does not turn the remaining time back into money.
  • An EA Play membership included with another subscription is managed there. Where Game Pass Ultimate includes EA Play, it ends when that plan ends rather than being cancelled separately.

FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE

Cancel EA Play, step by step.

Cancel an EA-billed membership

Use this when you subscribed through EA on PC and the receipt comes from EA rather than a store or console.

  1. Sign in to your EA account at myaccount.ea.com with the account that holds the membership.
  2. Open the subscriptions section of the account.
  3. Select the EA Play membership.
  4. Choose the cancellation option and follow the prompts, working past any offer to switch plans or stay.
  5. Check the membership shows an end date rather than a renewal date, and keep the confirmation email.

If the subscriptions page shows the membership as managed by another platform, that platform holds the billing and the cancellation has to happen there.

Cancel EA Play bought on PlayStation

An EA Play membership bought on a PS5 or PS4 is a PlayStation subscription billed by Sony to your PSN account. It does not appear in the EA app as something you can stop.

  1. Sign in to PlayStation Account Management, or use the console.
  2. On the web, select Subscription from the menu on the left and find EA Play.
  3. On PS5, go to Settings, Users and Accounts, Account, Payment and Subscriptions, Subscriptions.
  4. Select EA Play and choose Cancel Subscription, then confirm.

Cancel EA Play bought on Xbox

On Xbox the membership is billed through your Microsoft account alongside any other Xbox subscription.

  1. Go to account.microsoft.com and sign in with the account that pays.
  2. Open the services and subscriptions section.
  3. Find EA Play and open its management options.
  4. Turn off recurring billing or cancel, then confirm.
  5. If EA Play came as part of Game Pass Ultimate, it is not separate: it ends when that plan ends.

Cancel EA Play bought through Steam

Valve bills this one, so it sits with your Steam subscriptions rather than with EA.

  1. Open Steam and go to your account details, or sign in at store.steampowered.com.
  2. Open the section listing your subscriptions or recurring purchases.
  3. Select EA Play and choose the option to cancel it.
  4. Confirm, and check the entry shows it will not renew.

What happens next?

  • The membership stays active until the end of the period you already paid for.
  • Games from the EA Play catalogue stop launching once it ends. They stay installed and ask for a membership, so reinstalling does not restore them.
  • Save files are not deleted. Progress stays attached to your EA account, so buying the game or rejoining EA Play normally puts you back where you were.
  • Progress from a ten-hour trial carries into the full game if you buy it later, which is the main reason not to delete the EA account itself.
  • Games you bought outright are unaffected, and the members' discount you used on a purchase does not get clawed back.
  • The EA account, your friends list and your purchase history all remain after the membership ends.

WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK

If you get stuck.

The EA app will not let me cancel

That usually means EA does not bill you. A membership bought on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam or the Epic Games Store is billed by that platform and can only be cancelled there, so the EA app shows it without an active cancel option. Check the receipt to see who charged you.

My EA Play games stopped working

Catalogue games are included for the length of the membership rather than bought, so they stop launching when it ends. The download staying on your drive is normal. Your saves are still attached to your EA account, so buying the game or resubscribing picks the progress back up.

I cancelled on console but EA still charges me

Check whether you hold two memberships. Subscribing on a console and again on PC creates separate subscriptions with separate billing, and cancelling one leaves the other running. Look at the receipts for each charge and cancel each one in its own place.

EA Play is not in my subscriptions anywhere

Check whether it arrived inside another plan. Game Pass Ultimate includes EA Play, and in that case there is no separate EA Play subscription to cancel: it ends when the Ultimate plan ends. Also confirm which EA account is linked to the console you play on, since the membership follows the account that bought it.

I was charged for a year after a one-month trial

An annual term renews automatically at the annual price unless it is stopped first, and a promotional first period converts to a full-price term at the end. Cancel in the place that bills you, then take the refund question to that same platform, since each one decides under its own policy.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered.

How do I cancel EA Play?

Cancel it where you bought it. EA-billed memberships are cancelled in your EA account subscriptions at myaccount.ea.com. On PlayStation use Account Management or the console, on Xbox use account.microsoft.com, and on Steam use your Steam account page.

Do I keep EA Play games after cancelling?

No. The Play List is access while you subscribe, so those games stop launching when the membership ends. Anything you bought outright stays yours, including games bought with the members' discount.

Will I lose my save data?

The saves are not deleted, they stay attached to your EA account. You lose the ability to open them until you either rejoin EA Play or buy the game, at which point your progress is normally still there.

How do I cancel EA Play on PS5?

It is a PlayStation subscription, so go to Settings, Users and Accounts, Account, Payment and Subscriptions, Subscriptions, select EA Play and choose Cancel Subscription. The EA app cannot stop a Sony-billed membership.

Can I get a refund for the rest of my EA Play year?

Ask whoever billed you, since EA, Sony, Microsoft and Valve each apply their own refund rules to charges they collected. A refund is a request that can be declined, and cancelling is the separate step that stops the next charge.
