In this guide
Before you start.
- Know what you are actually giving up. GeForce NOW streams games you own elsewhere, so cancelling does not remove any game from your Steam or Epic library. What ends is the cloud machine that ran them.
- Games you bought through the GeForce NOW store are tied to the underlying store account, so they stay yours there after the membership ends.
- Check whether you are on a six-month or twelve-month term. Longer terms renew automatically at the end, and a yearly renewal arrives as one large charge rather than a monthly one.
- Look for Day Passes rather than a membership. A Day Pass is a one-off purchase that expires on its own and has nothing to cancel, so if that is what you bought there is no subscription.
- Cloud saves for many games sync through the underlying store, but settings and installed configuration inside the GeForce NOW session do not persist after a membership ends.
- If you downgrade rather than cancel, founder or legacy pricing you hold is usually forfeited and cannot be recovered later.
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel GeForce NOW, step by step.
Cancel in your NVIDIA account
NVIDIA bills the membership directly, so this is the route regardless of whether you play on a PC, a Mac, a phone, a browser or a TV.
- Go to account.nvidia.com and sign in with the NVIDIA account that pays for the membership.
- Open the membership or subscription section of the account.
- Select your GeForce NOW membership.
- Choose the cancellation option and work through the prompts, past any offer to downgrade or stay.
- Continue to a confirmation, then check the membership shows an expiry date rather than a renewal date.
Cancelling and downgrading are different actions. Downgrading keeps a paid membership at a lower tier and can forfeit legacy pricing permanently.
If a store or partner sold you the membership
GeForce NOW is also sold through phone stores and bundled by some retailers and carriers, and those charges are not controlled by NVIDIA.
- Check the receipt to see who charged you: NVIDIA, a phone store, a retailer or a carrier.
- If a phone store billed you, cancel in that store's subscription settings, since NVIDIA cannot stop a charge it does not make.
- If a carrier or retailer bundled it, cancel through that company's account or support.
- After cancelling, confirm in your NVIDIA account that the membership shows an end date.
Cancel through NVIDIA support
For a membership the account page will not let you stop, or an account you can no longer sign in to.
- Open NVIDIA's support site and start a request with Customer Care.
- Give the email on the account, the date of the charge and the amount.
- Ask explicitly for the membership to be cancelled rather than paused or downgraded.
- Ask for written confirmation and keep it with the date.
What happens next?
- The membership stays usable until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Your games are unaffected. They belong to your Steam, Epic or other store account, so cancelling GeForce NOW removes the way you streamed them rather than the games.
- You drop to the free tier if it is available in your region, which means queueing for a session and shorter play limits rather than losing access entirely.
- Priority access, the longer session lengths and the higher graphics settings that came with a paid tier all end.
- Cloud saves handled by the underlying store, such as Steam Cloud, continue to work because they were never GeForce NOW's to hold.
- Founder or legacy pricing, once given up, is generally not offered again, so resubscribing later means paying the current rate.
WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK
If you get stuck.
GeForce NOW is not in my phone's subscription list
A membership bought from NVIDIA is billed by NVIDIA and never appears in an Apple or Google subscription list. Check the receipt: if it comes from NVIDIA, cancel at account.nvidia.com in a browser. Only a membership actually bought inside a phone app would appear in that store.
I cancelled and lost my founder pricing
Legacy and founder rates are tied to a continuous membership, so ending or downgrading one generally gives up that price permanently. Rejoining later is at the current rate. This is the main reason to pause and think before cancelling a long-held membership.
My games disappeared after cancelling
They have not. GeForce NOW streams games from your Steam, Epic or other store account, and those libraries are unchanged. Sign in to the underlying store to confirm. What you lost is the cloud machine, not the games.
I was charged for a full year unexpectedly
Six-month and twelve-month terms renew automatically at the end of the term, and the renewal is billed as a single amount. Cancel in the NVIDIA account to stop the next one, then take any refund question to NVIDIA customer care, which decides case by case.
I bought a Day Pass and want to cancel it
A Day Pass is a one-off purchase rather than a subscription, so there is nothing recurring to cancel: it expires by itself. If you are also seeing a recurring charge, that is a separate membership and it is cancelled in the NVIDIA account.
Still not cancelled?Common reasons a subscription will not cancel
GOOD TO KNOW
Questions, answered.
How do I cancel GeForce NOW?
Sign in at account.nvidia.com with the account that pays, open the membership or subscription section, select the GeForce NOW membership and cancel it. The membership then runs to the end of the period you already paid for.
Do I lose my games when I cancel?
No. GeForce NOW streams games you own on Steam, Epic and other stores, so your libraries are untouched. You lose the cloud hardware that ran them, not the games.
Can I still use GeForce NOW for free after cancelling?
Where the free tier is offered, yes, with queueing and shorter sessions instead of the priority access a paid tier gives. It is a reduced service rather than no service.
What happens to my cloud saves?
Saves handled by the underlying store, such as Steam Cloud, are unaffected because they belong to that store rather than to GeForce NOW. Session settings and configuration inside GeForce NOW do not persist once the membership ends.
Can I get a refund for the rest of my term?
NVIDIA handles refunds for its own charges and decides each request individually, so a refund is a request rather than an entitlement. Cancelling is the separate step that stops the next renewal.
