In this guide
Before you start.
- Claim this month's games before you do anything else. Humble Choice keys you have redeemed are yours to keep permanently, and they stay in your Steam library whether or not you remain a member. A month you paid for and left unclaimed does not convert into anything.
- Consider pausing instead. Humble Choice has a pause option that skips upcoming months without closing the membership, which keeps your keys and your member benefits while stopping the charges. It is the single most useful setting on the page and the easiest to miss.
- Act before the billing date rather than on it. Humble Choice bills monthly on a set date and a change made once billing has run applies to the following month.
- Check your Humble Bundle keys page for anything unredeemed. Keys sit there until you claim them into Steam, and claiming is what makes a game permanently yours.
- Note what ends with the membership: the Humble Games Collection, the members' store discount and the monthly bundle. Only the keys you redeemed survive.
- Sign in with the account that pays. Humble Choice is billed to one account, and the subscription page will only show it when you are signed in as that account.
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel Humble Choice, step by step.
Cancel on the Humble Bundle website
The only route that exists. Humble Bundle bills Humble Choice itself, so the subscription is managed in a browser rather than through any app store.
- Sign in at humblebundle.com with the account that pays for Humble Choice.
- Go to humblebundle.com/subscription, or open the subscription section from your account menu.
- Claim any games for the current month before going further.
- Find the membership management options on that page and choose to cancel your membership.
- Work through the prompts, including any offer to pause or stay, until a cancellation confirmation appears.
- Check your email for the confirmation and keep it.
Humble shows alternatives such as pausing before the final step. Leaving the page at that point keeps the membership active, so continue until you see the confirmation.
Pause instead of cancelling
The option worth knowing about: it stops the charge for a month you do not want without giving up the membership or your place in it.
- Go to your subscription page at humblebundle.com/subscription and sign in.
- Claim the current month's games first if you have not already.
- Look for the pause or skip option in the membership management section rather than the cancel link.
- Choose to pause the upcoming month and confirm.
- Check the page shows the next month as skipped, and note when billing is due to resume.
A pause stops the next charge rather than refunding one that has happened, so it has to be set before the billing date for the month you want to skip.
What happens next?
- Every game key you redeemed while a member stays yours permanently. Those games remain in your Steam library and are unaffected by cancelling.
- Unclaimed months are not recoverable. A month you paid for without claiming the games does not carry forward and does not become a credit.
- Membership benefits stop at the end of the period you paid for: the Humble Games Collection, the members' discount in the Humble Store and the monthly Choice bundle.
- Games from the Humble Games Collection are access while you subscribe rather than keys, so they stop being available. They are separate from the Choice keys you redeem each month.
- Your Humble Bundle account, your key list and your purchase history remain after cancelling, and any unredeemed keys stay on your keys page.
- Cancelling does not remove charitable donations already made through past bundles.
Pausing or freezing Humble Choice.
Can I pause Humble Choice instead?
Yes, and it is the option most people miss. Pausing skips upcoming months without closing the membership, so you avoid the charge while keeping your keys and benefits. Set it before the month's billing date.
WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK
If you get stuck.
I cancelled before claiming this month's games
Claiming is what makes a Choice game permanently yours, so an unclaimed month is the one thing cancelling can genuinely cost you. Sign in and check your subscription and keys pages: if the month you paid for is still claimable, claim it now. Once the membership period has closed without a claim, that month is gone rather than banked.
I cannot find Humble Choice in my phone's subscriptions
It is not there and never will be. Humble Bundle bills Humble Choice from its own website with no app involved, so neither Apple nor Google lists it. Cancel it in a browser at humblebundle.com/subscription.
I was charged after cancelling
Check whether the cancellation reached a confirmation, since Humble offers a pause before the final step and stopping there leaves the membership running. Then compare the charge date with the date you cancelled: a change made after monthly billing has already run applies to the next month rather than reversing the charge that just happened.
My Humble Games Collection games stopped working
That is expected and it is not the same as your Choice keys. The Collection is access included with an active membership, while Choice games you redeemed into Steam are keys you own. The keys keep working; the Collection does not.
I wanted to skip one month, not leave
Use the pause option rather than cancelling. Pausing skips the upcoming month's charge and keeps the membership, so you do not have to rejoin later. It has to be set before the billing date for that month.
Still not cancelled?Common reasons a subscription will not cancel
GOOD TO KNOW
Questions, answered.
How do I cancel Humble Choice?
Sign in at humblebundle.com, go to humblebundle.com/subscription, claim the current month's games, then use the membership management options to cancel and follow the prompts to a confirmation.
Do I keep my Humble Choice games after cancelling?
You keep every game whose key you redeemed. Those stay in your Steam library permanently. Games from the Humble Games Collection are access tied to the membership and stop when it ends.
What happens to a month I paid for but never claimed?
It is lost. Claiming is what turns a Choice month into keys you own, so an unclaimed month does not roll over, convert to credit or stay available after the membership ends.
Is there a Humble Choice app to cancel in?
No. Humble Bundle sells and bills Humble Choice entirely through its website, so the browser is the only place to manage it.
