In this guide
Before you start.
- Find the merchant name on your statement first. Starz is sold as an add-on channel by Amazon, Apple, Roku, Hulu, cable providers and T-Mobile, and each of those appears under its own name rather than under Starz.
- Check the term you are on. The Starz App Store listing sells STARZ Monthly at $11.99, STARZ Three Month at $25.99, STARZ Six Month at $45.99 and STARZ Annual at $69.99, so a longer term paid up front behaves very differently from a monthly one.
- The same listing carries STARZ Monthly (T-Mobile) at $11.99 and STARZ Six Month (T-Mobile) at $45.99, which confirms T-Mobile as a distinct billing route worth checking if you are a T-Mobile customer.
- A Starz add-on channel usually only plays inside the service that sold it. If Starz has never worked in the Starz app itself, that is the strongest sign you hold a channel rather than a direct subscription.
- Cancel before the renewal date rather than on it. A renewal that has already processed is not reversed by a cancellation made the same day.
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel Starz, step by step.
Cancel a Starz subscription billed by Starz
This is the route for anyone who signed up at starz.com and pays Starz directly. Starz recommends doing it from a computer.
- Go to starz.com and select log in from the top of the screen.
- Select the user icon in the upper-right, and choose Settings.
- Under Billing Plan & Information, select Cancel Subscription.
- Follow the steps on the screen to complete the cancellation and select Submit. You may be asked why you are cancelling.
- Keep the email confirmation: Starz states you receive one when the subscription has been canceled.
In the Starz app, select More at the bottom-right, choose Settings, then Account Management, and under My Subscription select Cancel Subscription: Starz states this opens the browser on your device to complete the cancellation. If the account offers no cancellation control at all, a partner holds the plan and the routes below apply.
Cancel Starz bought as an Amazon Prime Video Channel
This is the most common Starz billing route in the United States, and the one that produces the most confusion, because the subscription is an Amazon subscription and Starz cannot see it.
- Go to Manage Your Prime Video Channels in your Amazon account.
- Find Starz under Prime Video Channels or Your Channels.
- Select the cancel option for that channel and confirm.
- Check the channel list afterwards to confirm Starz shows an end date.
Channel providers including Shudder and discovery+ state that once a Prime Video channel is cancelled, the renewal date becomes the end date and you keep watching inside Prime Video until then. Starz bought this way plays in Prime Video, not in the Starz app.
Cancel on iPhone or iPad
Apple sells Starz two ways: as an in-app subscription bought inside the Starz app, and as an Apple TV Channel added inside the Apple TV app. Both land in the same Apple subscriptions list.
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select the Starz subscription. The name shown tells you the term you are on, such as STARZ Monthly, STARZ Three Month, STARZ Six Month or STARZ Annual.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
- On a Mac, open the App Store, click your name, then open Subscriptions from your account settings.
If Starz is not in the list, check every Apple ID in the household. A subscription is only visible on the Apple ID that bought it.
Cancel on Android
A signup made inside the Starz Android app bills through Google Play, whose listing confirms Starz sells subscriptions there.
- Open the Google Play Store app, or go to play.google.com on a computer.
- Open Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select the Starz subscription.
- Select Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
Uninstalling the app never cancels a Google Play subscription. If Starz is missing from the list, the Google account signed in is not the one paying.
Cancel Starz sold through Roku or Hulu
Both resell Starz as an add-on inside their own subscription, so the charge is theirs.
- Roku: sign in at my.roku.com/subscriptions, find Starz under Active Subscriptions, choose Manage subscription, then turn off auto-renew and confirm.
- Hulu: sign in at hulu.com/account in a web browser and remove Starz from the add-ons section.
- Check the total for the next cycle after the removal, since both pages normally show the revised amount.
A Starz add-on inside Hulu plays through Hulu. Cancelling your Hulu base subscription does not reliably remove the add-ons, so deal with them separately.
Cancel Starz sold by T-Mobile or a cable provider
Starz has long been a premium channel on cable bills and a perk on mobile plans. The App Store listing's dedicated T-Mobile subscription tiers confirm T-Mobile as its own billing route.
- Check your mobile or TV bill for a Starz line, since a bundled subscription appears there rather than on a card statement.
- Sign in to that provider's own account and find the premium channels, add-ons or perks section.
- Remove Starz from the package there.
- If Starz is included with the plan at no separate charge, removing it saves nothing and simply ends the access.
- Keep the provider's confirmation, since Starz will have no record of a cancellation it did not process.
What happens next?
- Access normally runs to the end of the term you have already paid for. On a three, six or twelve month Starz term that can be a long time, which is worth knowing before you chase a refund.
- A longer Starz term is paid up front, so cancelling one stops the next renewal rather than returning the unused months.
- Cancelling does not delete the Starz account, its profiles or its watchlist. They stay if you come back.
- A Starz channel cancelled inside Prime Video, Roku or Hulu ends only that channel. Your subscription to the host service continues untouched.
- Downloads on a device stop playing when the subscription ends, even though the files stay on the device.
WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK
If you get stuck.
There is no cancel option in my Starz account
That means Starz is not the biller. Starz is resold as an Amazon Prime Video Channel, an Apple TV Channel, a Roku Channel, a Hulu add-on, a cable premium channel and a T-Mobile perk, and the Starz account page can only cancel plans Starz collects the money for. The merchant name on your statement names the company to go to.
Starz never works in the Starz app even though I pay for it
That is the signature of an add-on channel. A Starz channel bought inside Prime Video, Roku, Hulu or the Apple TV app plays inside that host app and generally does not unlock the standalone Starz app. Cancel it in the host service, because nothing on starz.com controls it.
I cancelled Starz but the charge keeps coming
Two subscriptions running at once is the usual cause, because Starz is easy to sign up for twice through different sellers. Compare the merchant name and the amount on the surviving charge against what you cancelled. If they do not match, the live subscription is a different one.
I was charged for six months and did not realise
Starz sells multi-month terms alongside the monthly plan: its App Store listing shows STARZ Three Month at $25.99, STARZ Six Month at $45.99 and STARZ Annual at $69.99 against STARZ Monthly at $11.99. A promotional offer often sits on one of the longer terms, which is paid up front and renews on that cycle rather than monthly.
My Starz came with T-Mobile and Starz cannot cancel it
Correct, and T-Mobile is a genuine separate billing route rather than a payment method: the Starz App Store listing carries dedicated STARZ Monthly (T-Mobile) and STARZ Six Month (T-Mobile) tiers. Manage it in your T-Mobile account's perks or add-ons section instead.
Still not cancelled?Common reasons a subscription will not cancel How to cancel an app subscription
GOOD TO KNOW
Questions, answered.
How do I cancel Starz?
If Starz bills you, sign in at starz.com in a browser and use the cancellation option in your account. If Amazon, Apple, Google, Roku, Hulu, a cable provider or T-Mobile bills you, cancel it in that company's account instead.
How do I cancel Starz on Amazon?
Go to Manage Your Prime Video Channels in your Amazon account, find Starz under your channels, and cancel it there. A Starz channel bought through Prime Video is an Amazon subscription and Starz cannot end it.
How do I contact Starz customer service to cancel?
Use the Starz Help Center at support.starz.com, which has a Chat with us option and a cancellation article for each way Starz is sold, including Amazon, Apple, Google, Roku, Samsung, LG, Hulu, YouTube TV, Sling TV and cable or satellite providers. If one of those partners bills you, the cancellation happens in that partner's account rather than with Starz support.
What does Starz cost and which terms are there?
Its App Store listing shows STARZ Monthly at $11.99, STARZ Three Month at $25.99, STARZ Six Month at $45.99 and STARZ Annual at $69.99, plus dedicated T-Mobile tiers at $11.99 monthly and $45.99 for six months.
Do I keep Starz until the end of the period I paid for?
Yes. Starz states that when you cancel, you still have access to Starz until the end of that billing cycle. Cancelling stops the next renewal rather than the current term, which matters most on a three, six or twelve month plan that was paid up front.
