In this guide
Before you start.
- Use a browser rather than the app. Turbo is managed on the Twitch website, and the mobile app is not where the subscription lives.
- Do not confuse Turbo with channel subscriptions. Turbo is one account-wide subscription that removes ads, while a channel subscription supports a single streamer. They are billed separately and cancelling one does nothing to the other.
- Check the renewal date and cancel before it rather than on it. A monthly subscription renewing that day can charge before the cancellation registers.
- If Turbo was bought on an annual term, it renews at the annual price automatically, so the charge arrives as one larger amount rather than monthly.
- Sign in as the account that pays. Turbo applies to one Twitch account, and it will not show on the subscriptions page of any other.
- Turbo does not remove every ad. Ads a streamer runs manually and some sponsored segments still appear, which is worth knowing before you decide whether to keep it.
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel Twitch Turbo, step by step.
Cancel on the Twitch website
The only route that manages Turbo. It works from a browser on a phone as well as a computer, which matters because the mobile app does not offer it.
- Go to twitch.tv and sign in with the account that has Turbo.
- Open twitch.tv/subscriptions, or find Subscriptions in your account menu.
- Look for the Turbo entry rather than the list of channel subscriptions.
- Select the option to cancel Turbo and work through the confirmation prompts.
- Check the entry shows an end date rather than a renewal date, and keep the confirmation email.
If a mobile browser keeps redirecting you into the app, request the desktop version of the site from your browser's menu.
If the charge came through Amazon
Twitch is an Amazon company and payments can run through an Amazon payment method, which is why some people look for the subscription in the wrong account.
- Check the receipt to see which company and payment method the charge names.
- Cancel the subscription itself on the Twitch subscriptions page, whichever card or account paid.
- Update or remove the stored payment method in your Twitch account settings if you no longer want it kept.
- If a charge you cannot identify continues after Turbo shows as cancelled, raise it with Twitch support with the statement line.
What happens next?
- Turbo stays active to the end of the period you already paid for, then the benefits stop.
- Ads return across Twitch. The ad-free viewing Turbo provided ends with the subscription.
- You lose the other Turbo extras: the custom chat badge, the expanded emoticon set and the longer video storage for your own broadcasts.
- Channel subscriptions are untouched. Each one renews on its own schedule and has to be cancelled separately if you want it stopped.
- Your Twitch account, follows, chat history and any channel you stream on are unaffected.
- Bits you already bought stay in your balance, because they are a purchase rather than part of the subscription.
WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK
If you get stuck.
Twitch Turbo is not in my iPhone or Android subscriptions
It will not be. Twitch bills Turbo itself through the website rather than selling it as an in-app subscription, so no store list shows it. The Twitch app does sell Bits and channel subscriptions, which is why people expect Turbo to be there too. Cancel Turbo at twitch.tv/subscriptions in a browser.
I cannot find Turbo in the Twitch app
The mobile app does not manage Turbo. Open twitch.tv in a browser and go to your subscriptions page, requesting the desktop site if the browser keeps pushing you into the app.
I cancelled Turbo but I am still seeing charges
Channel subscriptions are the usual cause: they are separate recurring payments from Turbo and continue until each one is cancelled on the same subscriptions page. Check the amount against a channel subscription price rather than the Turbo price to tell them apart.
I cancelled Turbo and ads are still gone
That is normal until the paid period ends, since cancelling stops the renewal rather than cutting the benefit immediately. If ads are still absent well past the end date, check whether the account has an active channel subscription to that streamer, which also removes their ads.
I am still seeing ads while paying for Turbo
Turbo does not remove every ad. Ads a streamer runs manually and certain sponsored segments still play, and ads can appear if you are signed out or watching on a device where you are not logged in. That is the product working as described rather than a billing fault.
Still not cancelled?Common reasons a subscription will not cancel
GOOD TO KNOW
Questions, answered.
How do I cancel Twitch Turbo?
Sign in at twitch.tv in a browser, open twitch.tv/subscriptions, find the Turbo entry and cancel it there. The mobile app does not manage Turbo.
Why is Turbo not in my phone's subscription list?
Twitch bills Turbo directly through its website rather than selling it as an in-app subscription, so it never appears under Apple or Google subscriptions even though the Twitch app sells other things.
Does cancelling Turbo cancel my channel subscriptions?
No. Channel subscriptions are separate recurring payments and keep renewing. Cancel each one individually on the same subscriptions page.
Do I keep ad-free viewing until the end of the month?
Yes. Cancelling stops the renewal, and Turbo benefits continue to the end of the period you already paid for.
What happens to my Bits?
Bits stay in your balance. They are bought separately from Turbo and are not removed when the subscription ends.
