STREAMINGSubscription cancellation guide

How to cancel CandyJar subscription.

CandyJar sells its Unlimited plan through Apple, Google Play, Roku and its own website, and the route that cancels it is whichever one charged you. CandyJar's help pages state that subscription refunds are available within 7 days of the charge and that after 7 days it cannot refund an active, working subscription, though auto-renewal can be turned off at any time. CandyJar VIP is an add-on on top of a plan, not the plan itself.

Before you start.

  • Look at the receipt before anything else. An email from Apple means that store bills you and controls the cancellation, and the app's own support cannot stop the charge for you.
  • Separate the two things CandyJar sells. Its App Store listing sells Unlimited Weekly and Unlimited Yearly plans, a separate CandyJar VIP Weekly, and four sizes of coin pack.
  • Check the renewal period. CandyJar sells weekly or yearly plans, and a weekly plan comes round again in days rather than at the end of a month, so a few days of not noticing is a real charge.
  • CandyJar's help pages state that refunds on a subscription are only possible within 7 days of the charge, so if you want the money back rather than just the renewal stopped, the order is to ask first and cancel second.
  • Check whether the charge is the plan or the VIP add-on. CandyJar states that VIP only unlocks early access to eligible shows and does not include a subscription or coins, so cancelling one leaves the other running.
  • If you subscribed without creating an account, the subscription still belongs to the Apple ID that paid, and that is where to look.

FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE

Cancel CandyJar, step by step.

Cancel a purchase made on candyjar.com

CandyJar sells directly on its website, and it states that a website purchase is handled by its own team rather than by a store. Apple's Restore Purchases will not find it, because Restore only recovers App Store and Google Play purchases.

  1. Log in at candyjar.com with the email address on your purchase receipt.
  2. Open your subscription settings and cancel from there.
  3. If you want the money back rather than only the renewal stopped, email CandyJar support instead: it states refunds are only possible within 7 days of purchase.
  4. Keep the confirmation you are shown.

CandyJar states that cancelling stops future renewals and leaves access running to the end of the period already paid for.

Cancel on iPhone or iPad

Apple bills the subscription, so it is cancelled from iOS Settings rather than inside CandyJar. The app can show you the plan, but it cannot end an Apple charge.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap your name (your Apple Account) at the top of the screen.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Select CandyJar from the list of active subscriptions.
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.

If CandyJar is not listed, you are signed in with a different Apple ID than the one that paid. The receipt email says which account was charged. If more than one CandyJar entry appears, cancel each one: the store lists every recurring item separately.

Cancel a Roku subscription

CandyJar is also sold through Roku, which bills separately from Apple, Google and the website.

  1. Go to my.roku.com/subscriptions and sign in.
  2. Find the CandyJar subscription and turn off auto-renewal.
  3. CandyJar states that Roku subscriptions are refundable and that the fastest route is to request the refund from Roku support.

Ask CandyJar to cancel a Google Play subscription

Unusually for this kind of app, CandyJar states that it can cancel or refund a Google Play subscription from its side if you would rather it handled the request.

  1. Contact CandyJar support with the email address on the account and the charge you want stopped.
  2. Say whether you want the subscription cancelled, refunded, or both.
  3. Cancelling in the Play Store yourself stops the renewal immediately, so do that as well if the next charge is close.

What happens next?

  • Cancelling stops the renewal. Apple leaves the subscription active to the end of the period already paid for, so access usually continues for the rest of that week.
  • Coins and unlocked episodes are separate from the membership. Cancelling does not remove coins you have already bought, and it does not refund them.
  • CandyJar states that deleting the account is permanent and that all coins and viewing progress are lost with it, and that the subscription still has to be cancelled with the payment platform so you are not billed again.
  • Refunds are requested from whoever billed you, and each of them can decline. Cancelling and asking for money back are two separate actions, and cancelling alone refunds nothing.
  • Keep the confirmation. In Settings, the subscription shows an expiry date instead of a renewal date once the cancellation has gone through, which is the only reliable proof it worked.

WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK

If you get stuck.

I cancelled the membership but I am still being charged

Check what the new charge is for. CandyJar sells "CandyJar VIP Weekly", "Unlimited Weekly" and "Unlimited Yearly" as recurring items, and a range of coin items, starting at "Coins Small" as one-off top-ups. A charge after cancelling is usually a second recurring item that was never cancelled, or a coin purchase rather than the membership. Open your store subscription list and confirm every CandyJar entry shows an expiry date rather than a renewal date.

CandyJar is not in my subscriptions list

The list only shows what the signed-in account bought. Find the receipt and check which Apple ID was charged, then sign in with that one. It is also worth checking the list for the app's other name: store entries sometimes carry the developer's name, Inkitt GmbH, rather than the app's.

I deleted the app and the charges continued

Removing an app never cancels its subscription. Apple keeps billing until the subscription itself is cancelled in the store settings, and you do not need to reinstall the app to do it.

I bought coins and thought that was the subscription

They are different products sold on the same screen. A coin pack is a one-off charge that buys episodes, and the membership is a recurring charge that renews on its own. Buying no more coins does nothing to the membership, so if the money keeps leaving every week, the membership is what is still running.

I paid but the app says I am not subscribed

CandyJar states this is almost always a sign-in mismatch rather than a lost subscription: the plan is attached to the account that bought it. Sign out and back in with the exact email on the receipt. If you used Sign in with Apple and chose Hide My Email, the account sits under a privaterelay.appleid.com address rather than your own, which is the usual cause.

Two CandyJar charges arrived close together

CandyJar states that a failed payment which later goes through can produce two charges near each other, one covering the missed payment and one for the regular renewal, and that this is most common on weekly plans rather than a duplicate charge.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered.

How do I cancel my CandyJar subscription?

CandyJar is billed by Apple, so cancel it in iOS subscription settings: Settings, your Apple Account name, Subscriptions, CandyJar, Cancel Subscription. The app's own settings do not end an Apple charge.

Does deleting the CandyJar app cancel the subscription?

No. Deleting an app removes it from the device and leaves the subscription running, so the store keeps charging until you cancel it in your subscription settings.

Is cancelling the membership the same as stopping coin charges?

No. CandyJar sells "CandyJar VIP Weekly", "Unlimited Weekly" and "Unlimited Yearly" as plans that renew, and a range of coin items, starting at "Coins Small" as one-off top-ups. Cancelling the plan stops the renewal and leaves your coin balance alone, and it does not stop you being charged for any further coins you buy.

Will I lose my coins if I cancel?

Cancelling the membership does not take away coins you have already bought: they are a separate purchase. What you lose is the membership benefit at the end of the period already paid for.

Can I get a refund from CandyJar?

Refunds come from whoever took the payment. Apple runs its own refund request process and can decline. Cancelling and requesting a refund are separate actions.

Why is CandyJar charging me every week?

Weekly plans are the norm for this kind of app, and CandyJar sells "CandyJar VIP Weekly", "Unlimited Weekly" and "Unlimited Yearly". The renewal period is shown next to the price in your store subscription settings, which is the reliable place to check what you are on.

What is CandyJar VIP and do I have to cancel it separately?

CandyJar states that VIP is an add-on that unlocks eligible shows a week early and does not include a subscription or coins, so you still need an active plan or coins to watch. It is managed the same way as the regular subscription, which means it is cancelled in whichever place bills it.
