STREAMINGSubscription cancellation guide

How to cancel FOX One subscription.

Cancel FOX One by logging in to your account and following the cancellation instructions there, which is the route FOX's own terms of use name. It only works if FOX bills you. FOX's terms define a Third Party Provider as an app store, or your internet, mobile or TV provider, that is authorised to sell the subscription, and where one of those sold it, that company is your subscription provider and holds the plan. FOX's terms state that subscription fees are non-refundable and there are no refunds or credits for partially used billing periods, and that a cancellation takes effect at the end of the then-current billing period. The renewal is automatic: FOX states a subscription renews for additional periods equal in length to the original, at the then-current rates.

Before you start.

  • Identify your subscription provider first. FOX's terms of use state you can hold a subscription either directly through Fox or through a third party such as an app store or your internet, mobile or TV provider, and the company that sold it is the one that can cancel it.
  • Check for a duplicate subscription before cancelling anything. FOX's terms carry an unusual warning: if you already directly subscribe to a product or service that is part of a bundled offer on FOX One, you could end up paying for it twice, once through FOX One and again directly. FOX states it is your responsibility to recognise any such duplicative charge and decide which to cancel.
  • Know the renewal shape. FOX's terms state that after your original subscription expires it automatically renews for additional periods equal in length to the original subscription period, unless you cancel before the renewal, at the then-current rates. An annual plan therefore renews for another year, not a month.
  • If you are on a free trial, count from the sign-up terms rather than assuming. FOX's terms state the subscription fee is billed at the beginning of your subscription or at the expiration of your free trial period, whichever is earlier, and that the duration and terms of each free trial are specified at sign-up.
  • Do not rely on letting the card expire. FOX's terms state that if your payment method expires and you do not update it or duly cancel before the automatic renewal, you authorise continued billing and remain responsible for any uncollected amounts.
  • If you have the ESPN and FOX One bundle, check which side sold it. ESPN states you see one monthly charge from the platform where you bought the bundle, and that to manage or cancel you go back to that same platform.

FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE

Cancel FOX One, step by step.

Cancel a FOX One subscription FOX bills

This is the route FOX's terms of use describe. Use it when you subscribed on the FOX or FOX One website rather than through a store or a TV provider.

  1. Log in to your account on the FOX One or FOX website.
  2. Open your account or subscription details, where FOX states you can find the specific details regarding your subscription at any time.
  3. Follow the cancellation instructions provided there.
  4. Check afterwards that the subscription shows an end date rather than a next renewal date.

FOX's terms state that if you duly cancel, the cancellation is effective at the end of the then-current billing period, and that payments are non-refundable with no refunds or credits for partially used billing periods. Access continues for the rest of the period you have paid for.

Cancel a subscription a store or provider bills

FOX's terms treat these companies as the subscription provider, which means FOX cannot stop the charge for you.

  1. Check the merchant name on your card or bank statement, which names who actually bills you.
  2. If it reads Apple, open Settings on your device, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, and cancel FOX One there.
  3. If it reads Google, open the Google Play subscriptions list and cancel it there.
  4. If it reads Roku or Amazon, cancel it in that account's subscription list.
  5. If FOX One came with an internet, mobile or TV package, contact that provider, because the subscription sits inside their package.

FOX's terms note that iOS subscribers must comply with the App Store terms of use in addition to FOX's own, and that Apple is a third party beneficiary of those terms. The store's renewal date and refund rules apply to the charge, not FOX's.

Cancel FOX One bought inside the ESPN bundle

The ESPN and FOX One bundle is a single subscription sold from two different places, and only the seller can cancel it.

  1. Work out whether you bought the bundle from ESPN or from FOX.
  2. If you bought it through ESPN, go to your account on ESPN.com, select Manage My Account, select Manage with MyDisney, select the plan and select Cancel.
  3. If you bought it through FOX, cancel it in your FOX account instead.
  4. Remember that cancelling the bundle ends both halves of it, since it is one subscription.

ESPN states that the ESPN and FOX One bundle costs $39.99 per month, that you keep access until the end of your billing cycle, and that pausing is not available on it. ESPN also states the bundle is available from the ESPN and FOX websites only, and is not offered through Disney+ or Hulu.

What happens next?

  • Access runs to the end of the period you paid for. FOX's terms state that a cancellation is effective at the end of the then-current billing period and that you continue to have access for the remainder of it.
  • FOX's terms state in capitals that payments are non-refundable and there are no refunds or credits for partially used billing periods.
  • Cancelling stops the automatic renewal, which FOX's terms describe as renewing for additional periods equal in length to the original subscription period at the then-current rates.
  • Cancelling a FOX One subscription does not close your FOX account or affect free, ad-supported FOX content.
  • If you had a duplicate subscription to something inside a bundle, cancelling FOX One does not cancel the other one. FOX's terms put the responsibility for spotting and cancelling a duplicative charge on you.

Pausing or freezing FOX One.

Can I pause FOX One instead of cancelling?

For the ESPN and FOX One bundle, no: ESPN states that pausing is not available on it. FOX's own terms describe cancelling rather than pausing, so treat cancelling and resubscribing later as the available route.

WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK

If you get stuck.

I am being charged twice for the same channel or service

FOX warns about this in its own terms rather than treating it as a fault. If you already subscribe directly to a product or service that is also part of a bundled offer on FOX One, you can pay for it twice: once through FOX One and again through the direct subscription. FOX states it is your responsibility to recognise the duplicative charge and to cancel whichever one you do not want. Check both accounts, not just the FOX One one.

My FOX One subscription is not in my account

Then a third party sold it. FOX's terms define a Third Party Provider as an app store, or your internet, mobile or TV provider, authorised to provide subscriptions, and in that case that company is the subscription provider. Look at the merchant name on your statement and cancel in the Apple, Google, Roku or Amazon subscriptions list, or with the TV or mobile provider that bundled it.

I cancelled my card and FOX kept billing me

Cancelling a card is not cancelling a subscription, and FOX's terms address this directly: if your payment method expires and you do not update it or duly cancel the subscription before it automatically renews, you authorise continued billing and remain responsible for any uncollected amounts. FOX also states the payment service may update your payment method using information from the card issuer, so a reissued card can keep the charge running.

My annual plan renewed for another full year

That is how FOX's renewal is written. FOX's terms state the subscription renews for additional periods equal in length to the original subscription period, so a yearly plan renews yearly and a monthly one monthly, at the then-current rates. FOX's terms also state there are no refunds or credits for partially used billing periods, so the practical move is to cancel now and keep access for the rest of the year you have been charged for.

I cancelled the ESPN and FOX One bundle at ESPN but FOX still shows a subscription

Check whether you have two subscriptions rather than one. ESPN states the bundle is a single subscription billed by the platform you bought it from, so if you also signed up to FOX One directly at some point, that second subscription continues independently. Cancel each in the account that sells it: the bundle where you bought the bundle, and any standalone FOX One plan in your FOX account or the store that bills it.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered.

How do I cancel FOX One?

No. FOX's terms state that payments are non-refundable and there are no refunds or credits for partially used billing periods, and that you keep access for the remainder of the billing period you have paid for.

Automatically, at the end of each subscription period. FOX's terms state it renews for additional periods equal in length to the original subscription period, unless you cancel before the renewal, at the then-current rates. Your specific renewal date is in your account subscription details.
