In this guide
Before you start.
- Check Payment Method on the Subscription page first. Guardio states that cancelling on its site or app cannot stop Apple or Google billing.
- Make sure you are in the account that is being charged. Guardio says the most common reason a cancellation seems not to work is that the charge belongs to a different account: another email, phone number, PayPal address or a Sign in with Apple private relay address.
- On a Family or Duo plan, only the plan owner can cancel the subscription.
- A large charge is usually an annual or 2-year plan billed up front. Guardio shows the monthly equivalent on the plan screen but charges the whole term at once.
- Use only Guardio's own help pages and support@guard.io. Guardio states it is not affiliated with any third-party subscription service.
How to find all your subscriptions How to cancel a membership
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel Guardio, step by step.
Cancel a card or PayPal subscription on the web
This is Option A in Guardio's guide, for subscriptions paid by credit card or PayPal. Guardio also offers a direct link straight into the cancellation flow.
- Sign in at app.guard.io on a desktop browser and go to the Subscription page.
- In the Plan row, click Change, on the right across from your plan name.
- Under Premium protection is On, click the button you see.
- If it is Turn Off, click it and confirm through the prompts.
- If it is Manage Plan, click it and scroll to the bottom of the plans page: the cancel option is below the plans.
It worked when you receive the email titled "Your Guardio Premium subscription has been canceled" and the Subscription page shows the Free plan with the date your Premium coverage ends.
Cancel in the Guardio app
The same card or PayPal subscription can be cancelled from the mobile app.
- Tap the Profile icon.
- Tap Subscription, then Manage Subscription.
- In the Plan row, tap Change.
- Under Premium protection is On, tap Turn Off and confirm, or tap Manage Plan and scroll to the cancel option below the plans.
Cancel an App Store Guardio subscription
If Payment Method says App Store, Apple bills you and Guardio cannot change the subscription.
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions.
- Tap Guardio, then Cancel Subscription.
- Confirm.
If Guardio is not listed, you may have subscribed under a different Apple ID. Sign in to that Apple ID and try again.
Cancel a Google Play Guardio subscription
If Payment Method says Google Play, Google bills you and the cancellation happens on your device.
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon at the top right, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Tap Guardio, then Cancel subscription.
- Follow the prompts.
What happens next?
- You keep full Premium protection until the end of the period you already paid for. On an annual plan that can be most of a year away, and the confirmation email shows the date.
- Auto-renew is off and you won't be charged again. When coverage ends the account moves to the free version automatically.
- If you signed up with a phone number, the confirmation arrives by SMS instead of email.
- Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not reverse a charge that has already gone through. For App Store and Google Play charges, refunds are handled by Apple or Google.
- You can come back later: on an expired subscription, Subscription then Renew protection reactivates it.
WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK
If you get stuck.
I cancelled but Guardio charged me again
Guardio lists the usual causes: the renewal had already processed before you cancelled, you cancelled with Guardio but pay through Apple or Google, you have a second Guardio account, or you only unsubscribed from emails, uninstalled the app or deleted the account. Search every inbox for "Guardio" to find the account named in the welcome email and cancel there too. Guardio asks you to email support@guard.io before opening a bank dispute.
The Subscription page says Free plan but I am being charged
Guardio states there is then no paid subscription on that account: the charge belongs to another one. Check other email addresses, your phone's text messages, your PayPal email, and any @privaterelay.appleid.com address created by Sign in with Apple, then sign in to that account at app.guard.io and cancel.
I was charged far more than the monthly price
Annual and 2-year plans are billed once, up front, for the whole term, while the plan screen shows the monthly equivalent. If you meant to pick a monthly plan, Guardio asks you to email support@guard.io before cancelling.
I was charged twice
Guardio states the second charge is usually an upgrade, an add-on accepted during sign-up, or a switch to a longer term, charged straight away. If both amounts are full price, there are probably two accounts, and cancelling one does not touch the other.
My free trial turned into a charge
Guardio states it stopped offering a free trial on March 30, 2026, so a subscription started since then is a paid plan from the first charge rather than a converted trial. Either way, cancelling now stops the next renewal; email support@guard.io if the charge itself looks wrong.
Still not cancelled?Common reasons a subscription will not cancel How to cancel an app subscription
GOOD TO KNOW
Questions, answered.
How do I cancel my Guardio membership?
Check Payment Method under Profile, Subscription. For card or PayPal, on the Subscription page click Change in the Plan row, then Turn Off or Manage Plan, and confirm. For App Store or Google Play, cancel in that store's subscription settings.
Does uninstalling Guardio cancel the subscription?
No. Guardio states that uninstalling the browser extension or the app stops the software but not the billing, which is tied to your account.
Is deleting my Guardio account the same as cancelling?
No. Guardio lists deleting the account among the things that do not cancel a subscription. Cancel the subscription first.
Do I keep Guardio protection after cancelling?
Yes. Premium protection stays active until the end of the period you paid for, then the account moves to the free version.
Does emailing Guardio support cancel my subscription?
No. Guardio states that sending an email does not, on its own, cancel the subscription. Cancel through the steps for your billing channel, or get a support agent to confirm it is done.
Can someone cancel Guardio for me?
On a Family or Duo plan, only the plan owner can cancel. Guardio also warns that third-party services claiming to manage Guardio subscriptions are not official.
