In this guide
Before you start.
- Check whether you have Fitness+ on its own or inside Apple One. Apple bundles Apple Fitness+ in Apple One alongside five other services, and a bundled Fitness+ does not appear as a separate cancellable subscription.
- Cancel a trial at least 24 hours before it ends. Apple advises this for trial subscriptions generally, and Fitness+ trials run one month for new subscribers or three months with an eligible device purchase.
- Check which Apple Account holds it. Apple suggests searching your email for a receipt from Apple or an invoice from Apple to identify which account the subscription is on, then signing in to that account to cancel it.
- If you are in a family, note Apple's rule: you cannot cancel a family member's subscription. The account holder has to do it themselves.
- Remember that Fitness+ does not require an Apple Watch. Apple says all you need is an iPhone to use Fitness+, so cancelling is not something a change of watch forces on you.
- Cancelling stops the renewal rather than refunding the current period, so there is no benefit to waiting until the last day.
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel Apple Fitness+, step by step.
Cancel Apple Fitness+ on iPhone or iPad
This is the route most people use, and Apple documents the same steps for both devices.
- Open Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap the Apple Fitness+ subscription.
- Tap Cancel Subscription, scrolling down if you need to find the button.
- Confirm, then check the screen shows an expiry date rather than a renewal date.
Apple notes the Cancel Subscription button can sit below the fold, which is why people report not seeing one.
Cancel Apple Fitness+ on a Mac
Use this if you would rather work on a computer. The path goes through the App Store rather than System Settings.
- Open the App Store and click your name in the sidebar.
- Click your name again on the account page.
- Click Subscriptions.
- Click the subscription you would like to cancel.
- Click Cancel Subscription.
Sign in with the Apple Account that pays for the subscription, not a second account you use on that Mac.
Cancel Apple Fitness+ in a browser
Apple offers a web route, which is useful if you no longer have the device the subscription was bought on.
- Go to account.apple.com and sign in with the Apple Account that holds the subscription.
- Open the subscriptions section of the account management page.
- Select Apple Fitness+.
- Choose the cancellation option and confirm.
- Check the end date shown for your access.
If Fitness+ is not listed here either, check whether it is part of an Apple One bundle on this account.
What happens next?
- Access runs to the end of the period you have already paid for. Cancelling stops the renewal rather than ending the subscription on the spot.
- Your recorded workouts stay in the Fitness and Health apps on your devices. Those are records on your account rather than part of the Fitness+ subscription.
- Fitness+ workout videos stop being available, including any you downloaded, since they stream from the service.
- Closing the rings and the standard Activity tracking on an Apple Watch continue without Fitness+, because that is part of watchOS rather than the subscription.
- If you shared Fitness+ with family members, their access ends when the subscription does. Apple says you can share Apple Fitness+ with up to five family members while it is active.
Cancelling a Apple Fitness+ free trial.
How do I cancel an App Store free trial before I’m charged?
For a trial billed by Apple, open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Select the trial, choose the cancellation option and confirm. Apple advises cancelling at least 24 hours before the trial ends to prevent renewal. Check the confirmation for your access end date. If you track it in Subex, enter the date the trial converts as the renewal date and set a reminder 1 or 3 days before.
WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK
If you get stuck.
Apple Fitness+ is not in my subscriptions list
The usual reason is Apple One. Apple bundles Fitness+ with five other services in Apple One, and a bundled service does not appear as its own line you can cancel. Look for Apple One in the same subscriptions list: cancelling or downgrading that bundle is what changes your Fitness+ access. The other possibility is that the subscription sits on a different Apple Account, which Apple suggests finding by searching your email for a receipt or invoice from Apple.
There is no Cancel Subscription button
Two common causes. Apple notes the button may require scrolling down on the subscription screen, so it is often present but below the fold. If there is genuinely no cancel option and only a resubscribe option, the subscription is already cancelled and set to expire, and the screen should show the date. Read the wording: expires means done, renews means still active.
My family member is being charged and I cannot cancel it
Apple states this limitation directly: you cannot cancel a family member's subscription. Even as the family organiser, the cancellation has to be performed from that person's own Apple Account, on their device or by signing in to account.apple.com as them. Ask them to follow the steps rather than trying to do it from your account.
I cancelled but I can still use Fitness+
That is expected. Cancelling with Apple stops the next renewal and leaves access running to the end of the period you have paid for. The thing to check is the status text on the subscription screen, which should show an expiry date. If it still says the subscription renews on a date, the cancellation did not complete.
I cancelled my Apple One bundle and lost more than Fitness+
That is how the bundle works: Apple One covers Fitness+ plus five other services, so cancelling it ends all of them together. If you want to keep the others, look at changing the Apple One plan rather than cancelling it outright, or cancel Apple One and subscribe separately to the individual services you still want. Apple prices Fitness+ on its own at 9.99 a month or 79.99 a year after the trial.
Still not cancelled?Common reasons a subscription will not cancel How to cancel an app subscription
GOOD TO KNOW
Questions, answered.
How do I cancel Apple Fitness+?
In your Apple subscriptions. On iPhone or iPad open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap the subscription and tap Cancel Subscription. On a Mac use the App Store under your name and Subscriptions, or manage it at account.apple.com.
Why can I not find Apple Fitness+ to cancel?
It is most likely inside an Apple One bundle, where Fitness+ is one of six services and does not appear as a separate subscription. Cancel or change the Apple One plan instead. It may also sit on a different Apple Account.
Do I need an Apple Watch for Fitness+?
No. Apple says all you need is an iPhone to use Fitness+, though an Apple Watch adds real-time metrics. Cancelling or not owning a watch is separate from the subscription.
What happens to my workout history if I cancel?
Your recorded workouts and Activity data stay in the Fitness and Health apps, since those belong to your device and account. What stops is access to the Fitness+ workout library.
