Before you start.
- Do not expect to cancel in the app. MacroFactor says payment details and subscription cancellations must be managed directly through your phone's app store, so time spent looking for a cancel button in the app is wasted.
- Use the in-app page to gather facts first. MacroFactor says you can view your active subscription and renewal date under More, then Subscriptions, which tells you the deadline you are working against.
- Identify which store holds the billing. MacroFactor names the Apple App Store and Google Play as the two platforms that manage its subscriptions.
- Check which account paid. A subscription bought on one Apple Account or Google Account is invisible when you sign in with another.
- Cancel before the renewal date rather than on it, so the store registers the cancellation before the charge is queued.
- If you want to change plan rather than leave, MacroFactor documents that separately: change plans through your phone's app store, or go to the in-app Subscriptions page, select the plan you want and tap Subscribe.

Cancel an Apple-billed MacroFactor subscription
Apple holds the billing for App Store purchases, and MacroFactor states that cancellations must be managed through the store rather than in the app.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select MacroFactor.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
If MacroFactor is not listed, check you are signed in with the Apple Account that paid, or the subscription came through Google Play.
Cancel a Google Play-billed MacroFactor subscription
Use this if you subscribed on an Android device, where Google Play manages the billing.
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon in the top right.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select MacroFactor.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the confirmation steps.
Use the Google Account that made the purchase, since a different account will not show the subscription.
Check your subscription details in the app first
MacroFactor's in-app page cannot cancel, but it answers the two questions that make the store route straightforward: what you are on and when it renews.
- Open MacroFactor and go to More, then Subscriptions.
- Check which subscription is active and note the renewal date shown.
- Use that date to decide how urgently you need to cancel in the store.
- Go to the Apple App Store or Google Play and complete the cancellation there.
- Return to the app afterwards if you want to confirm the plan is no longer set to renew.
MacroFactor is explicit that this page manages plan changes rather than cancellations: cancellations must go through the app store.
What happens next?
- Access normally runs to the end of the period the store has charged you for, rather than ending on the day you cancel.
- Your logged food, weight trend and expenditure history stay with the MacroFactor account. Cancelling the subscription is not the same as deleting the account.
- MacroFactor's algorithm builds on your logged history, so returning later generally means your past data is still there to work from.
- Refunds are handled by the store that billed you rather than by MacroFactor, since the store took the payment.
- The app stays installed and your login continues to work after the subscription lapses.

There is no cancel button in the MacroFactor app
There is not meant to be one. MacroFactor states that payment details and subscription cancellations must be managed directly through your phone's app store, so the in-app Subscriptions page under More is for viewing your plan and renewal date and for changing plans, not for cancelling. Go to iOS Settings under your name and Subscriptions, or the Play Store under Payments & subscriptions, to actually cancel.
MacroFactor is not in my store subscriptions
Usually an account mismatch. Store subscriptions belong to the Apple Account or Google Account that bought them, so signing in with a different address hides the purchase. Check which account received the receipt. If you switched between an iPhone and an Android phone at some point, check the other store too, since the subscription stays with the platform it was bought on.
I deleted the app and was charged anyway
Uninstalling an app never cancels a store subscription, because the billing sits with Apple or Google. This matters more than usual for MacroFactor, since the app has no cancellation control of its own, so there is nothing you could have done inside it in the first place. Cancel directly in the store.
I switched plans and now I think I have two subscriptions
MacroFactor documents two ways to change plans: through your phone's app store, or on the in-app Subscriptions page by selecting the plan and tapping Subscribe. Switching through the store normally replaces the existing subscription, but it is worth opening your store's subscription list to confirm only one MacroFactor entry is active, and cancelling any duplicate you find.
I cancelled but the app still shows a renewal date
Check the store rather than the app, since the store is the authority on billing status. In Apple's or Google's subscription list the entry should now say it expires on a date rather than renews on one. The app may take a little while to reflect a cancellation made in the store, and MacroFactor's page is reporting the plan rather than controlling it.
