HEALTH & FITNESSMembership cancellation guide

How to cancel Orangetheory Fitness membership.

Orangetheory has a Membership Cancellation page on its US site with an online Membership Cancellation Request form, which it says is submitted to the Orangetheory Fitness Corporate Office. You pick your home studio, the one your monthly membership is charged from, and give your reason. Orangetheory reminds members it has a 30-day cancellation policy unless your Membership Agreement says otherwise, so any payment due within 30 days of the request is still taken. Studios are individually owned and operated, and Orangetheory's app FAQ says cancelling means visiting or contacting your home studio, so that remains the fallback.

Before you start.

  • Find your home studio, the studio your monthly membership is charged from. The cancellation request form asks you to select it.
  • Unfreeze first if your account is frozen. Orangetheory says your account status must be active to process a cancellation, and a frozen account must be reactivated before the request can be processed.
  • Expect payments in the next 30 days. Orangetheory says it offers a 30-day cancellation policy unless your Membership Agreement states otherwise, and any payment set to occur within 30 days of the request occurs as scheduled.
  • Check for a term membership. Orangetheory says that if you cancel during the Initial Term of a term membership, any remaining payments due under the Initial Term are charged as scheduled.
  • Use your sessions. Orangetheory says you have 30 days from your last payment to use previously unused sessions, and any remaining sessions or promotional rates are forfeited.

FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE

Cancel Orangetheory Fitness, step by step.

Cancel online

Orangetheory's US site links a Membership Cancellation page from its footer. The form on it is submitted to the Orangetheory Fitness Corporate Office for membership cancellation.

  1. Open Membership Cancellation from the footer of orangetheory.com.
  2. When asked whether you want to try another option and keep your membership, choose No, I'd still like to cancel my membership according to the cancellation terms of my membership agreement.
  3. Say whether you bought the membership online at Orangetheory.com or in a local studio.
  4. Enter your name, phone number and the email address on your Orangetheory membership account, then select your home studio and a reason.
  5. Select Submit my cancellation request, and keep a screenshot and any email you receive.

You need access to the email address you enter, because the form asks you to confirm it. Questions about billing and refunds go to your home studio.

Cancel at your studio

Orangetheory's mobile app FAQ says that to cancel you will need to visit or contact your home studio, and its customer service page describes studios as independently owned and operated. Use this if the form does not work for you or you want to confirm terms first.

  1. Find your studio's contact details with the Orangetheory studio finder.
  2. Call the studio or stop by the front desk and ask the studio manager to cancel your membership.
  3. Ask what notice your Membership Agreement requires and the date of your final payment.
  4. Ask for written confirmation of the cancellation.

Orangetheory says standard cancellation policies are those stated in the Membership Agreement for the studio where the membership was purchased, so terms can differ by studio.

What happens next?

  • Payments due within 30 days of your request still go ahead under Orangetheory's 30-day cancellation policy, unless your agreement says otherwise.
  • On a term membership cancelled inside the Initial Term, remaining Initial Term payments are charged as scheduled.
  • You have 30 days from your last payment to use unused sessions. Remaining sessions and promotional rates are then forfeited.
  • Deleting your Orangetheory app account does not cancel your membership, Orangetheory says.

Can I freeze my Orangetheory membership instead of cancelling?

Orangetheory says all of its locations offer an option to freeze a monthly membership for a small amount in place of monthly billing, to keep your rate. Ask your home studio for its freeze terms. A frozen account has to be reactivated before it can be cancelled.

WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK

If you get stuck.

My cancellation request was not processed because my account is frozen

Orangetheory says your account status must be active to process a cancellation, and a frozen account must be reactivated before the request can be processed. Ask your home studio to reactivate it so the cancellation can go through, and confirm what you will be charged.

I was charged after submitting my cancellation

Under Orangetheory's 30-day cancellation policy, any membership payment set to occur within 30 days after your request is received occurs as scheduled. If a charge lands after that window and your agreement does not say otherwise, contact your home studio, which Orangetheory says handles billing and refunds.

I chose to keep my membership by mistake

The first question on the cancellation form offers Yes, I'd like to keep my membership active and talk through other options. Choosing it does not cancel anything. Start the form again and choose the No option, then complete and submit it.

I deleted the app and I am still being billed

Orangetheory says deleting your mobile app account will not cancel your membership. Use the Membership Cancellation Request or contact your home studio.

Another studio cannot help me cancel

Studios are individually owned and operated, and the cancellation form routes your request to your home studio. Select the studio your membership is charged from, or contact that studio directly.

No. Orangetheory says deleting your mobile app account will not cancel your membership, and that the studio data stays associated with your profile.
