Before you start.
- Mark the renewal date. HuntStand says subscriptions renew annually one year from the date of purchase, so an annual charge can arrive long after you last opened the app.
- Cancel at least 24 hours ahead. HuntStand states you must cancel the subscription at least 24 hours prior to the renewal date for the auto-renewal to stop.
- Work out the platform. HuntStand says you must cancel on the correct platform, which will be the HuntStand website, your Apple ID, or your Play Store account, depending on where you made the purchase.
- Remember what an in-app purchase means. HuntStand points out that if you purchased the subscription on the HuntStand app, you did so through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, and the auto-renewal is managed by that store rather than by HuntStand.
- Expect to keep access. HuntStand says that once you cancel the auto-renewal you continue to have access to your subscription until it expires at the end of the subscription year.
- If you genuinely cannot recall where you subscribed, HuntStand points to a separate help article on identifying it, or you can submit a request to its support team.
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel HuntStand, step by step.
Cancel a HuntStand website subscription
HuntStand documents this for HuntStand Pro subscriptions purchased on its website, and stresses that these are cancelled on the website rather than in the app.
- Visit huntstand.com/manage.
- Log in to the correct HuntStand account.
- Click Manage Existing Subscriptions, then Cancel.
- Follow the prompts through to a confirmation.
- On a laptop or desktop you can also go to huntstand.com, log in, then click Account, Manage Subscriptions, Manage Existing Subscriptions, Cancel.
HuntStand is explicit that a website purchase is cancelled on the website and not on the app.
Cancel a Google Play-billed HuntStand subscription
HuntStand says an in-app purchase on Android is managed by the Play Store, so this is where the renewal is actually stopped.
- On your mobile device, open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select HuntStand.
- Tap Cancel subscription and confirm.
HuntStand says to contact Google Support if you need assistance managing your Play Store account.
Cancel an Apple-billed HuntStand subscription
HuntStand says an in-app purchase on iOS is managed by your Apple ID, and asks you to check you are signed in to the right one.
- Go to Settings on your mobile device.
- Be sure you are signed in to the correct Apple ID.
- Tap your name, then Subscriptions.
- Select HuntStand.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
HuntStand says to contact Apple Support if you need assistance managing your Apple ID.
What happens next?
- HuntStand says that once you cancel the auto-renewal, you continue to have access to your subscription until it expires at the end of the subscription year.
- The annual cycle means the end date can be many months away. Cancelling early costs you nothing, since access runs to the anniversary of your purchase.
- Your maps, property boundaries and markers stay with the account rather than being removed by cancelling the subscription.
- Premium map layers and tools stop when the subscription year ends, so check what you rely on offline before that date.
- Cancelling the subscription does not delete the HuntStand account or the app on your phone.
WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK
If you get stuck.
I cancelled in the HuntStand app but was charged anyway
HuntStand explains why this happens: if you purchased the subscription on the HuntStand app, you did so through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, and the auto-renewal is managed by that store. HuntStand's own pages cannot stop a store charge. Open Google Play under Payments & subscriptions, or iOS Settings under your name and Subscriptions, and cancel there. Make sure you are in the Play account or Apple ID that made the purchase.
An annual charge arrived out of nowhere
HuntStand subscriptions renew annually, one year from the date of purchase, which means the charge lands twelve months after you signed up rather than on a memorable monthly date. Check the purchase date to work out your renewal anniversary. HuntStand asks for cancellation at least 24 hours prior to the renewal date, so the practical approach is to cancel as soon as you decide not to continue, since access runs to the end of the year regardless.
I do not know where I originally subscribed
HuntStand anticipates this and points to a dedicated help article, or you can submit a request to its support team. In practice the quickest check is your receipt or bank statement: a charge from Apple or Google means the store holds it, and a charge from HuntStand means the website route at huntstand.com/manage applies.
I cannot find Manage Existing Subscriptions
HuntStand gives two paths on the website. From any device, visit huntstand.com/manage, log in, then click Manage Existing Subscriptions and Cancel. From a laptop or desktop only, log in at huntstand.com and click Account, then Manage Subscriptions, then Manage Existing Subscriptions, then Cancel. If neither shows a subscription, it was bought through a store rather than the website.
I cancelled but I still have full access
That is how HuntStand describes it working. It says you continue to have access to your subscription until it expires at the end of the subscription year after cancelling the auto-renewal. Access continuing is not evidence that the cancellation failed. Confirm instead that the store or the website now shows the subscription as expiring rather than renewing.
