In this guide
Before you start.
- Check your bank descriptor before anything else. Lose It! publishes the mapping: APPLE.COM/BILL is Apple, GOOGLE*LOSE IT is Google Play, and LOSE IT! or LOSEIT.COM is the website. This removes the guesswork that causes most failed cancellations.
- Note the case Lose It! flags specifically: if you purchased inside the app but do not see it in your Apple Subscriptions, and you have verified you are not logged into a different Apple ID, your purchase was processed directly via loseit.com.
- Do not rely on deleting anything. Lose It! states that closing your Lose It! account or deleting the app from your device does not cancel your subscription, because store subscriptions are tied to your Apple or Google Play account.
- Cancelling a trial and cancelling a paid plan use the same route. On Apple the option may read Cancel Free Trial rather than Cancel Subscription.
- Expect to keep access until the period ends. Lose It! says you continue to have full access to Premium features until the end of your current billing period or trial window.
- Lose It! cannot cancel a store subscription for you. It says Lose It! support is unable to modify or cancel Apple subscriptions on your behalf, and says the same about Google Play.
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel Lose It!, step by step.
Cancel an Apple-billed Lose It! subscription
Use this if your statement shows APPLE.COM/BILL. Lose It! says Apple manages all payments, cancellations and refunds directly for App Store purchases.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your Apple ID or name at the very top of the screen.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select the Lose It! subscription from the list.
- Tap Cancel Subscription, or Cancel Free Trial, and confirm the cancellation when prompted.
Lose It! says that if you do not see an option to Cancel Subscription, it is already cancelled and not set to renew, and you will likely see a message indicating when the subscription is expiring.
Cancel a Google Play-billed Lose It! subscription
Use this if your statement shows GOOGLE*LOSE IT. Lose It! says Google manages payments, cancellations and refunds directly for Play purchases.
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your Profile icon in the top right corner.
- Select Payments & subscriptions, then tap Subscriptions.
- Select Lose It! from your subscription list.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the on-screen instructions to complete and confirm.
Lose It! says its support is unable to modify or cancel Google Play subscriptions on your behalf, so this has to be done in your own Play account.
Cancel a loseit.com subscription
Use this if your statement shows LOSE IT! or LOSEIT.COM, or if the subscription is missing from your store lists. Lose It! says to use a desktop or mobile web browser.
- Go to my.loseit.com and log into your account.
- Click the Settings gear icon in the top right corner.
- Select Subscription from the menu options.
- Click Cancel Subscription.
- Follow the prompts to confirm your cancellation.
This is the route for the case Lose It! describes where an in-app purchase does not appear in Apple Subscriptions: the billing went through loseit.com instead.
What happens next?
- Lose It! says you prevent any future auto-renewals or trial conversions into paid memberships, and that you keep full access to Premium features until the end of your current billing period or trial window.
- Lose It! says that once your active period expires, your account automatically returns to the free version of Lose It!.
- Your logged food and weight history stays with the account rather than being removed by cancelling.
- Closing the account is a separate action and, as Lose It! points out, not one that stops the billing. Do the cancellation first.
- If you cancelled in a store, the store is where the status shows. Lose It!'s own app may not reflect a store cancellation immediately.
WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK
If you get stuck.
I bought it in the app but it is not in my Apple Subscriptions
Lose It! names this exact case. It says that if you purchased the subscription inside the app but do not see it listed in your Apple Subscriptions, and you have verified you are not logged into a different Apple ID, your purchase was processed directly via loseit.com. Go to my.loseit.com, click the Settings gear icon, select Subscription and cancel there. Check the bank descriptor too: LOSE IT! or LOSEIT.COM confirms it.
I deleted the app and closed my account but was charged again
Lose It! addresses this directly: closing your Lose It! account or deleting the app from your device does not cancel your subscription, because app store subscriptions are tied to your Apple or Google Play account rather than to the app. You have to cancel through the platform that bills you. If you have already closed the account, you can still cancel in Apple's or Google's subscription list.
There is no Cancel Subscription button on the Apple screen
Lose It! explains this one: if you do not see an option to Cancel Subscription, it is already cancelled and not set to renew, and you will likely see a message indicating when your subscription is expiring. Read the date on the screen rather than hunting for a button. If Lose It! is not listed at all, check you are signed in with the Apple ID that paid.
I do not know which platform I bought it on
Use your bank statement, which is the method Lose It! recommends. It publishes the descriptors: APPLE.COM/BILL means the Apple App Store, GOOGLE*LOSE IT means the Google Play Store, and LOSE IT! or LOSEIT.COM or similar means the Lose It! website. Match the descriptor to the route and you avoid cancelling in the wrong place.
Lose It! support says it cannot cancel for me
That is its stated position for store purchases rather than a brush-off. Lose It! says Apple manages all payments, cancellations and refunds directly for App Store purchases and that its support is unable to modify or cancel them on your behalf, and says the same for Google Play. For a loseit.com subscription the cancellation is self-service at my.loseit.com under Settings and Subscription.
GOOD TO KNOW
Questions, answered.
How do I cancel Lose It! Premium?
Through the platform that sold it. Apple purchases are cancelled in Settings under your name and Subscriptions, Google Play purchases in the Play Store under Payments & subscriptions, and website purchases at my.loseit.com under the Settings gear icon and Subscription.
How do I tell where I bought my Lose It! subscription?
Check the merchant descriptor on your bank statement. Lose It! says APPLE.COM/BILL means the Apple App Store, GOOGLE*LOSE IT means the Google Play Store, and LOSE IT! or LOSEIT.COM means the Lose It! website.
Does deleting the Lose It! app cancel my subscription?
No. Lose It! states that closing your account or deleting the app does not cancel the subscription, because store subscriptions are tied to your Apple or Google Play account.
What happens to my food and weight logs?
Lose It! says that once your active period expires your account automatically returns to the free version. Cancelling the subscription does not delete the account or its history.
How do I cancel an App Store free trial before I’m charged?
For a trial billed by Apple, open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Select the trial, choose the cancellation option and confirm. Apple advises cancelling at least 24 hours before the trial ends to prevent renewal. Check the confirmation for your access end date. Add the trial deadline to Subex and set a reminder so you can review it in time.
How do I cancel a Google Play free trial before it renews?
Open your subscriptions in Google Play using the Google Account that started the trial. Select the plan, choose Cancel subscription and complete the confirmation steps before the trial expires. Otherwise, the paid subscription begins automatically under the offer’s terms. Uninstalling the app does not stop renewal. Keep the trial-end date in Subex and set a reminder before the first payment is due.
