Before you start.
- Check the renewal date first and work back 24 hours. Quizlet states that you should submit your cancellation request at least 24 hours before your renewal date, and that your Settings page shows a renewal date if the subscription is set to auto-renew or an expiration date if it is not.
- Confirm there is actually something to cancel. Quizlet states that if the subscription is not renewing automatically you will see an expiration date rather than a renewal date, and that if you do not see the Manage subscription option, your subscription may not be set to renew or you may have signed up elsewhere.
- Find out who bills you before you start. Quizlet publishes three separate cancellation articles, one for the website, one for the Apple App Store and one for the Google Play Store, because the route is entirely different in each case. Quizlet cannot cancel an Apple or Google subscription for you.
- Know what survives, because it is more than people expect. Quizlet states that when your account returns to the free version you lose access to upgraded features, but all your sets, folders and classes stay in your account and you will always be able to see your uploaded images and listen to your recorded audio. Quizlet also states that if your subscription lapses, your Class Progress data will be restored when you upgrade again.
- There is one real content trap in the downgrade. Quizlet states that if you are no longer subscribed and you edit a set you created while subscribed, any premium features you previously added will be removed from any term or definition that you modify. Editing an old set after cancelling can strip parts of it, so copy anything irreplaceable before you start editing.
- If your access came through a school, there may be nothing for you to cancel. Quizlet describes Quizlet for Schools as a school-wide subscription that teachers and students activate from an email invitation, which means the school holds the purchase rather than the individual.

Cancel Quizlet auto-renewal if you paid on the website
This is the route for a subscription bought on quizlet.com. Quizlet names the exact options, and the same path works from a phone browser as from a computer.
- Log in to your Quizlet account.
- Select Manage subscription under your profile picture. On a device you can also go to Profile, then Your Settings, then Manage subscription.
- Select Cancel auto-renewal.
- Complete the cancellation questions through to the end.
- Return to Settings and check that the page now shows an expiration date rather than a renewal date, which is how Quizlet says you confirm it worked.
Quizlet states that if you do not see the Manage subscription option, your subscription may not be set to renew, or you may have signed up through the Apple App Store or Google Play instead. Submit the request at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
Cancel a Quizlet subscription billed by Apple
Quizlet states that if you purchased your subscription in the iOS app, you need to cancel auto-renewal through the Apple App Store. Quizlet cannot stop that charge from its own settings page.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name at the top of the screen.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select the Quizlet entry.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
Quizlet states that once the cancellation is successful you will get a confirmation email from Apple, which is the receipt worth keeping. Quizlet also states plainly that uninstalling the Quizlet app does not cancel subscription payments.
Cancel a Quizlet subscription billed by Google Play
Quizlet states that a subscription purchased in the Android app must be cancelled through the Google Play Store.
- Open the Google Play Store app with the Google Account that bought the subscription.
- Tap your profile icon in the top right.
- Select Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select Quizlet.
- Tap Cancel subscription and complete the steps.
Quizlet states that once the cancellation is successful you will get a confirmation email from Google. The same 24-hour guidance applies: Quizlet asks for the cancellation at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
What happens next?
- Quizlet states that if your paid subscription is not set to renew, your account reverts to the free version when the upgrade expires, so you keep the paid features until that date.
- Your content stays. Quizlet states that all your sets, folders and classes remain in your account, and that you will always be able to see your uploaded images and listen to your recorded audio.
- Quizlet states that Class Progress data is restored when you upgrade again, so a lapse does not permanently destroy it.
- Editing an old set after the downgrade can cost you content. Quizlet states that premium features previously added will be removed from any term or definition that you modify once you are no longer subscribed.
- Cancelling stops the renewal and does not by itself return the current payment. Quizlet publishes separate refund request routes for website, Apple and Google purchases, which means a refund is a request you make rather than something the cancellation triggers.

I cannot find Manage subscription anywhere in my settings
Quizlet gives two explanations for this. The first is that your subscription may not be set to renew, in which case there is nothing to cancel and the Settings page shows an expiration date instead of a renewal date. The second is that you signed up elsewhere: a subscription bought in the Apple App Store or Google Play does not appear as a cancellable item in Quizlet's own settings, and Quizlet directs those subscribers to the store instead.
I cancelled and was charged anyway
Check the timing against Quizlet's rule. Quizlet asks for the cancellation at least 24 hours before the renewal date, so a request made on the renewal day itself can land after the charge has started processing. Then check who charged you: if the receipt is from Apple or Google, a cancellation on the Quizlet website never touched it. Quizlet states an app store cancellation produces a confirmation email from Apple or Google, so the absence of that email means the store cancellation did not complete.
I deleted the app but the payments continue
Quizlet states this outright on both of its app store cancellation pages: uninstalling the Quizlet app does not cancel subscription payments. The subscription lives in the store account, not on the phone, and it keeps renewing until you cancel it there. Reinstalling the app is not necessary either, since the cancellation happens in the Apple or Google subscription settings rather than inside Quizlet.
My old sets lost their diagrams or images after I cancelled
This is the documented downgrade behaviour and it is triggered by editing, not by the cancellation itself. Quizlet states that if you are no longer subscribed to Quizlet Plus or Quizlet Plus for teachers and you edit a set you created while subscribed, any premium features you previously added will be removed from any term or definition that you modify. Sets you leave alone keep what they have, so avoid editing sets you care about until you have copied them or resubscribed.
My school gave me Quizlet and I cannot cancel it
Then it is not yours to cancel. Quizlet describes Quizlet for Schools as a school-wide subscription that teachers and students activate by following an email invitation and selecting Activate upgrade, which means the school or district bought it and holds the billing. There is no personal payment behind that access, so the place to raise it is the teacher or administrator who sent the invitation. If you are also being charged personally, that is a separate individual subscription and it is cancelled through whichever channel sold it.
