In this guide
Before you start.
- Find your renewal date first. It is the date the charge falls, and cancelling after it does not undo the charge.
- Check which plan you are on. Walmart lists Walmart+ at $98 a year plus tax or $12.95 a month plus tax, and the difference matters if you are trying to stop an annual charge.
- Check for Walmart+ InHome, which is a separate paid upgrade. Walmart lists it at $40 a year or $7 a month on top of the membership, so an account can be carrying two charges.
- If you are in a trial, count the days rather than trusting a reminder. Walmart promotes a 30-day trial, and a trial that converts becomes an ordinary paid membership.
- If you joined on a discounted rate, such as the Walmart+ Assist rate for qualifying government assistance recipients and college students, the membership still renews automatically at the rate in effect for you.
How to find all your subscriptions How to cancel a membership
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel Walmart+, step by step.
Cancel on the Walmart website
Walmart bills the membership itself, so the account is where it is managed. Walmart's own header links Walmart+ and Subscriptions from the signed-in account.
- Sign in at Walmart.com with the account that holds the membership.
- Open your account and go to the Walmart+ membership or subscriptions area, where the plan and its renewal date are shown.
- Open the Walmart+ plan and choose the option to cancel or end the membership.
- Work through every confirmation screen: retention offers sit between the first click and the end of the flow.
- Continue until Walmart confirms the membership is cancelled, note the end date, and keep the confirmation email.
If the flow stops at an offer and you close the tab, the membership stays active. A cancellation counts once it is confirmed.
Cancel in the Walmart app
The app signs into the same account and reaches the same membership. This is Walmart's own billing, not a purchase made through the App Store or Google Play.
- Open the Walmart app and check you are signed in to the account that was charged.
- Open your account and go to the Walmart+ membership or subscriptions area.
- Select the Walmart+ plan and follow the prompts to cancel.
- If the option is not available in the app, sign in on Walmart.com in a browser instead rather than waiting.
- Confirm the cancellation before the renewal date.
Walmart states you need a Walmart.com account and the Walmart app to use the membership's features, which is why people assume the app store bills it. It does not.
Cancel through Walmart customer care
The route to use when the account page loops, will not load, or you cannot sign in before the renewal date.
- Open Walmart's help centre and start a chat, or use the contact options listed there for membership help.
- Say you want the Walmart+ membership cancelled, not paused, and give the account email.
- Mention Walmart+ InHome separately if you have it, since it is a separate paid upgrade.
- Ask for the cancellation date in writing and check your email for confirmation.
What happens next?
- Cancelling stops the renewal. The membership benefits run with the plan, so check the end date Walmart gives you at cancellation.
- The benefits that end are the membership ones: free delivery from your store on orders over $35, free shipping with no order minimum, member prices on fuel, mobile scan and go, returns from home, the Video Streaming Choice benefit and the rest of the Walmart+ list.
- Video Streaming Choice is a benefit of the membership rather than a subscription you own. Walmart describes it as choosing one ad-supported service, Peacock Premium or Paramount+ Essential, with additional registration required, so the streaming account is worth checking separately once the membership ends.
- Walmart+ InHome is a separate paid upgrade at $40 a year or $7 a month. Cancelling the membership is not automatically the same as ending an InHome charge, so confirm both.
- Cancelling the membership does not close your Walmart account. Orders, addresses and payment methods stay, and you can still shop as a non-member.
- Walmart does offer a pause option on the membership, described in its own FAQ as a separate action from cancelling, which is worth asking about if you only want a break.
Pausing or freezing Walmart+.
Can I pause Walmart+ instead of cancelling?
Walmart documents a pause option for the membership in its own Walmart+ FAQ, described separately from cancelling, with its own eligibility and limits on how often it can be used. Ask customer care or check that FAQ if you only want a break rather than to leave.
WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK
If you get stuck.
Walmart+ is not in my Apple or Google subscriptions
That is expected. Walmart sells and bills Walmart+ itself, charging the payment method on your Walmart account, so it never appears in an App Store or Google Play subscription list. The Walmart app is a shopping app that signs into that account. Cancel from the membership or subscriptions area of your Walmart account instead.
I cancelled but was charged anyway
Check the cancellation date against the renewal date, and check that the flow actually finished rather than stopping at a retention offer. If the confirmation email exists and the charge still landed, take the confirmation to Walmart's help centre. If there is no confirmation, the cancellation probably did not complete.
I am being charged twice by Walmart
Look for Walmart+ InHome, which Walmart lists as a separate upgrade at $40 a year or $7 a month on top of the membership. Two Walmart charges in the same month are more often the membership plus InHome than a duplicate. Walmart's FAQ also covers a membership charged to a different card than you expected.
My free trial converted before I meant to cancel
A trial converts on its end date rather than lapsing, so the charge is the trial ending as designed. Cancelling now stops the next renewal. Whether the charge itself is refundable is a question for Walmart customer care rather than something the membership pages promise, so ask rather than assume.
I cannot find the membership in my account
Check you are signed in with the email that was charged, since a second Walmart account is the usual cause. If the charge is on your statement but no membership appears in the account, contact Walmart customer care with the statement line rather than waiting for the next renewal.
Still not cancelled?Common reasons a subscription will not cancel
GOOD TO KNOW
Questions, answered.
How do I cancel Walmart+?
Sign in to your Walmart account on Walmart.com or in the Walmart app, open the Walmart+ membership or subscriptions area, and follow the prompts to cancel. Walmart bills the membership directly, so it is not cancelled through an app store.
How much does Walmart+ cost?
Walmart lists the plans at $98 a year plus applicable tax or $12.95 a month plus applicable tax. Walmart+ InHome is a separate upgrade at $40 a year or $7 a month.
Does cancelling Walmart+ end my streaming benefit?
Yes, Video Streaming Choice is a membership benefit rather than a subscription you hold independently. Walmart describes it as choosing one ad-supported service, Peacock Premium or Paramount+ Essential, with additional registration required, so check that streaming account separately after the membership ends.
