In this guide
Before you start.
- Cancel at least 24 hours before your next billing date. Zwift states this directly, so a cancellation on the renewal day itself may not stop the charge.
- If you pay by Direct Debit, leave longer. Zwift says Direct Debit requires at least 7 days' notice, which is a materially different deadline from the 24 hours that applies elsewhere.
- Work out who bills you. Zwift says that if you have an Apple App Store subscription you will not see a cancellation option on Zwift.com. An absent button is the answer, not a fault.
- Consider pausing instead. Zwift says you can pause a membership purchased directly from Zwift for 7, 14, 30, 60 or 90 days, and that trials and memberships purchased through the Apple App Store cannot be paused.
- Know what you keep. Zwift says your progress is saved after cancellation, that riding requires an active membership and that running remains available.
- If you change your mind, Zwift says you can remove a scheduled cancellation at zwift.com/billing/membership before it takes effect.
How to find all your subscriptions How to cancel a membership
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel Zwift, step by step.
Cancel a Zwift-billed membership on Zwift.com
This is the route Zwift documents for memberships it bills itself, and the only place those can be cancelled. The option is two levels below MANAGE.
- Go to zwift.com/billing/membership and sign in.
- Select MANAGE.
- Select Zwift Membership.
- Select Cancel Subscription.
- Select a reason for leaving and then select CANCEL MEMBERSHIP.
Selecting MANAGE does not cancel anything on its own. The cancellation only completes at the final CANCEL MEMBERSHIP step after the reason screen.
Pause instead of cancelling
Zwift documents a pause for memberships purchased directly from Zwift, which suits a few months off the bike better than cancelling and rejoining.
- Go to zwift.com/billing/membership and sign in.
- Select MANAGE, then Zwift Membership.
- Select Pause Subscription.
- Select your pause duration: Zwift offers 7, 14, 30, 60 or 90 days.
- Select Pause Subscription again to confirm.
Zwift says the pause begins when your current billing period ends, not when you schedule it, and that it does not end your current paid period early or save unused days for later. Zwift also says you cannot extend a pause or change its resume date.
Cancel on iPhone or iPad
Zwift states that with an Apple App Store subscription you will not see a cancellation option on Zwift.com and must manage it through the App Store.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select the Zwift subscription.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
Zwift also says memberships purchased through the Apple App Store cannot be paused, so a break means cancelling and rejoining later.
What happens next?
- Zwift says your membership remains active until the end of your current billing cycle, the time between charges, whether that is monthly or yearly.
- Zwift says your progress is saved after cancellation, so levels, XP and history are not wiped by leaving.
- Riding stops, running does not. Zwift states that riding requires an active membership and that running remains available.
- Zwift says you can remove a scheduled cancellation at zwift.com/billing/membership if you change your mind before it takes effect.
- Cancelling does not delete the Zwift account. Your login and your record of past rides stay in place.
Cancelling a Zwift free trial.
How do I cancel an App Store free trial before I’m charged?
For a trial billed by Apple, open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Select the trial, choose the cancellation option and confirm. Apple advises cancelling at least 24 hours before the trial ends to prevent renewal. Check the confirmation for your access end date. If you track it in Subex, enter the date the trial converts as the renewal date and set a reminder 1 or 3 days before.
Pausing or freezing Zwift.
Can I pause Zwift instead of cancelling?
Yes, for memberships bought directly from Zwift. Zwift offers pauses of 7, 14, 30, 60 or 90 days, beginning when your current billing period ends. Trials and Apple App Store memberships cannot be paused.
WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK
If you get stuck.
There is no Cancel Subscription option on Zwift.com
Zwift states the reason directly: if you have an Apple App Store subscription, you will not see a cancellation option on Zwift.com. The membership has to be cancelled in the App Store instead, through Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Zwift, Cancel Subscription. The missing button is Zwift telling you who bills you rather than a fault with the page.
I cancelled and was billed anyway
Check the timing against Zwift's two deadlines. Zwift says to cancel at least 24 hours before your next billing date to avoid renewal, and that Direct Debit requires at least 7 days' notice. A Direct Debit cancellation made two days out therefore still allows the payment. Also check you reached the final CANCEL MEMBERSHIP step after choosing a reason, since stopping before it leaves the membership running.
I paused my membership but was charged at the normal time
A pause does not shorten the period you have already paid for. Zwift says the pause begins when your current billing period ends, not when you schedule it, and that it does not end your current paid period early or save unused days for later. So the charge you were expecting to avoid may be the one that was already due. Zwift also warns against resuming early to schedule another pause, since resuming results in a charge.
The pause option is missing from my account
Zwift names several cases where pausing is unavailable: trials and memberships purchased through the Apple App Store cannot be paused, and neither can memberships with a pending plan change or cancellation. If you have already scheduled a cancellation, that is likely why. Zwift says you can remove a scheduled cancellation at zwift.com/billing/membership, which would then let you pause instead.
Will I lose my levels and progress?
No. Zwift says your progress is saved after cancellation, and repeats for pauses that your Zwift progress will be saved until you are ready to return. What you lose is access: riding requires an active membership, while running remains available. Zwift does note that during a pause, outdoor activities will not earn XP or contribute to an ongoing activity streak.
