In this guide
Before you start.
- Find out who billed you before you start. Calm says how you cancel depends on where you bought the subscription, and points to your purchase confirmation email or payment history: if you see Apple or Google listed, use that platform's steps.
- Cancel at least 24 hours before a free trial ends. Calm states this for both the Apple and Google routes, so a trial cancelled on its final day can still convert.
- Know the refund rule before you cancel, since it differs by channel. Calm says refunds are available only for Calm.com and Google Play purchases within 30 days, and that for Apple subscriptions you contact Apple's support directly.
- Cancelling is not refunding. Calm states plainly that cancelling a subscription does not automatically generate a refund.
- If you are on a Family Plan, note the restriction. Calm says Family Plan subscriptions can only be cancelled by the Calm Premium Family Admin through Calm's website, and not in the Calm app directly.
- Check whether a second app is involved. Calm says Calm Sleep is a separate app that is also managed in the same Apple Settings menu, so look for the specific app name in your list.
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel Calm, step by step.
Cancel a Calm.com subscription
Use this if you subscribed on Calm's website. Calm manages this billing itself, so this is the only place it can be stopped.
- Log in to your Calm account in a web browser.
- Click your profile icon in the top-right corner.
- Select Settings, then Manage Subscription.
- Click Cancel Subscription and follow the prompts.
- Check the date your Premium access is said to run to.
Calm says that once cancelled the subscription will not renew at the end of your billing cycle, but you keep Calm Premium access until that date.
Cancel an Apple-billed Calm subscription
Calm says Apple manages all billing for in-app purchases and that Calm cannot access or cancel subscriptions made through Apple.
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions.
- Select Calm.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
- Alternatively, Calm says you can open the Calm app and tap Manage Subscription to go directly to your Apple subscription page.
Calm's troubleshooting is useful here: if the screen says Expires on a date, you have already cancelled. If it says Renews on a date, the subscription is still active.
Cancel a Google Play-billed Calm subscription
Use this if you bought Calm through the Google Play Store on an Android device.
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon in the top right corner.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select Calm.
- Tap Cancel subscription at the bottom, choose a reason if asked, then Continue and Cancel subscription to confirm.
Calm says you can also tap Manage Subscription inside the Calm app to be redirected to Google Play.
Cancel a Calm subscription activated through Samsung Health
Calm documents this separately because the subscription does not appear in the usual places. It is easy to miss and keeps billing if you look only at Google Play.
- Open your Calm app within Samsung Health.
- Tap the three dots in the upper right corner of the screen.
- Choose Subscription from the menu.
- Follow the cancellation instructions shown there.
- Confirm the auto-renewal is off before your next billing date.
Calm says you continue to have access to premium content until the subscription's expiration date after turning off auto-renewal.
What happens next?
- Calm says your subscription will not renew at the end of your billing or trial period, and that you keep access to Calm Premium until that date.
- Calm says you can resubscribe anytime through Calm.com, Apple or Google Play, so cancelling does not close the door.
- Cancelling does not produce a refund. Calm states that cancelling a subscription does not automatically generate a refund, and that refunds are available only for Calm.com and Google Play purchases within 30 days.
- The account and its history stay. Cancelling ends the subscription rather than removing your account, saved sessions or progress.
- Calm advises that if you were billed after cancelling, you should check your provider's purchase history to confirm the cancellation date.
Cancelling a Calm free trial.
How do I cancel an App Store free trial before I’m charged?
For a trial billed by Apple, open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Select the trial, choose the cancellation option and confirm. Apple advises cancelling at least 24 hours before the trial ends to prevent renewal. Check the confirmation for your access end date. If you track it in Subex, enter the date the trial converts as the renewal date and set a reminder 1 or 3 days before.
How do I cancel a Google Play free trial before it renews?
Open your subscriptions in Google Play using the Google Account that started the trial. Select the plan, choose Cancel subscription and complete the confirmation steps before the trial expires. Otherwise, the paid subscription begins automatically under the offer’s terms. Uninstalling the app does not stop renewal. If you track it in Subex, enter the date the trial converts as the renewal date and set a reminder 1 or 3 days before.
WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK
If you get stuck.
I cannot find Calm in my Apple or Google subscriptions
Calm gives two reasons. You may be logged into a different Apple Account or Google Account from the one that subscribed, which is the most common cause after changing phones. Or you subscribed on the website or the other platform rather than the one you are looking at. Check the purchase confirmation email to see who charged you. Calm also notes that Calm Sleep is a separate app, so look for the specific app name in the list.
There is no Cancel button on the Calm subscription screen
Calm says to read the text rather than hunt for the button. If it says Expires on a date, you have already cancelled and no further charges will occur. If it says Renews on a date, the subscription is still active and the cancel option should be there. If Calm is not listed at all, you are in the wrong account or the wrong platform.
I cancelled and was charged anyway
Check when you cancelled against the renewal date: Calm says to cancel at least 24 hours before a free trial ends to avoid charges. Then check you cancelled in the platform that bills you, since Calm says all subscriptions must be cancelled through the original purchase platform. Calm advises checking your provider's purchase history to confirm the cancellation date if you were billed after cancelling.
I deleted the app but the billing continued
Calm states this explicitly for both stores: uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription. The subscription belongs to the store account or the Calm.com account that bought it, not to the app on the phone. Reinstall it if that is easier, or go directly to Apple's subscriptions, Google Play or Calm.com and cancel there.
I cannot cancel our Family Plan in the app
That is by design. Calm says Calm Premium Family Plan subscriptions can only be cancelled by the Calm Premium Family Admin through Calm's website, and not in the Calm app directly. If you are a member rather than the admin, the cancellation has to come from whoever set the plan up. Leaving the plan and cancelling it are different actions.

Calm says refunds are available only for Calm.com and Google Play purchases within 30 days, and that for Apple subscriptions you contact Apple's support directly. Calm also says cancelling does not automatically generate a refund.

Calm says that is normal: you keep Premium access until your current billing or trial period ends. The subscription simply does not renew after that.
