Before you start.
- Find your purchase confirmation. BetterMe sends an email headed "Welcome to BetterMe! Your purchase confirmation inside." after a website purchase, and it says cancellation information is on the checkout page and in that email.
- Work out the billing channel. BetterMe sells through its websites and through the App Store, Google Play and Huawei AppGallery, and a store subscription does not appear on the BetterMe website.
- Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. BetterMe gives that deadline for store subscriptions and asks website subscribers to cancel before the end of the then-current period.
- Expect a higher renewal price after a discounted start. BetterMe says discounted trial periods convert to a subscription at the standard price unless cancelled, for example a one-month subscription at a non-discounted price.
- Check for more than one subscription. BetterMe sells add-ons, including extra premium subscriptions such as personal coaching, alongside the main plan, and its separate apps such as BetterMe: Mental Health have their own subscription terms.
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel BetterMe, step by step.
Cancel a subscription bought on a BetterMe website
BetterMe builds plans from a quiz and sells them on checkout pages on its websites. Those subscriptions are billed by BetterMe and cancelled from your BetterMe profile, not from your phone's subscription list.
- On a phone, open the BetterMe app and go to your Profile.
- Select Manage Subscriptions.
- Without the app, sign in to your web profile at app.betterme.world and go to subscription settings.
- Cancel each active subscription you no longer want, including any add-on subscriptions.
- Keep the confirmation and check that it is in place before the end of the current period.
BetterMe says the options for starting a web cancellation may change from time to time, and points to the Subscription Terms for each product for the current steps. If you cannot complete it, contact BetterMe support at least 24 hours before the billing cycle ends.
Cancel on iPhone (App Store)
If you started the subscription or trial through the App Store, Apple bills it, and BetterMe says you alone can manage it in your Apple ID settings.
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name or photo at the top of the screen.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Choose the BetterMe app.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm, at least 24 hours before the trial or period ends.
If BetterMe is not listed, you probably bought on a BetterMe website, or with a different Apple Account. Check your receipts.
Cancel on Android (Google Play)
If you subscribed through Google Play, cancel it in the Play Store with the Google Account that paid.
- Close the BetterMe app and open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your icon in the upper-right part of the screen.
- Choose Payments & Subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Find the BetterMe app.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts, at least 24 hours before the trial or period ends.
BetterMe also sells through Huawei AppGallery. A subscription bought there is cancelled in your Huawei account settings.
What happens next?
- Cancelling stops the renewal. Store subscriptions stay active to the end of the period already paid for.
- Deleting the app does not cancel your subscriptions, according to BetterMe.
- Deleting your BetterMe account is separate and permanent: in the app, More tab, profile icon, Manage Personal Data, Remove personal data. BetterMe says this logs you out and deletes your progress.
- Add-ons bought on their own, such as one-time challenges, are separate payments from the subscription.
Cancelling a BetterMe free trial.
How do I cancel a BetterMe free trial?
The same way as a subscription, before the trial ends. BetterMe says store trials must be cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the trial, and that discounted trial periods convert to a full-price subscription unless cancelled.
How do I cancel an App Store free trial before I’m charged?
For a trial billed by Apple, open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Select the trial, choose the cancellation option and confirm. Apple advises cancelling at least 24 hours before the trial ends to prevent renewal. Check the confirmation for your access end date. If you track it in Subex, enter the date the trial converts as the renewal date and set a reminder 1 or 3 days before.
How do I cancel a Google Play free trial before it renews?
Open your subscriptions in Google Play using the Google Account that started the trial. Select the plan, choose Cancel subscription and complete the confirmation steps before the trial expires. Otherwise, the paid subscription begins automatically under the offer’s terms. Uninstalling the app does not stop renewal. If you track it in Subex, enter the date the trial converts as the renewal date and set a reminder 1 or 3 days before.
WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK
If you get stuck.
BetterMe is not in my Apple or Google Play subscriptions
You most likely bought it on a BetterMe website, which bills you directly. BetterMe explains that its premium access is sold through the website and through the stores separately. Cancel through Profile and Manage Subscriptions in the app, or in subscription settings at app.betterme.world.
My subscription does not show on the BetterMe website
BetterMe says subscriptions made through the App Store or Google Play are not visible on its website. Review and cancel them in iPhone Settings, your name, Subscriptions, or in Google Play under Payments & Subscriptions, Subscriptions.
I was charged twice
BetterMe says this usually means more than one product was bought: the main subscription plus an add-on, which can be a one-time payment or an extra premium subscription such as personal coaching. Each subscription has to be cancelled, so check your profile for every active one.
The renewal charge is much higher than what I first paid
BetterMe says discounted trial periods are followed by a full subscription at the standard price unless manually cancelled, and that this is shown on the checkout page and in the confirmation email. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the trial to avoid it.
I deleted the app and I am still being charged
BetterMe states that deleting the app does not cancel your subscriptions. Use the route for where you paid: Manage Subscriptions in your BetterMe profile for website purchases, or the App Store or Google Play for store purchases.
