FOOD & DELIVERYSubscription cancellation guide

How to cancel Blue Apron subscription.

Sign in to Blue Apron and open Plan Settings in your Account Settings, click Edit, then Pause/Cancel Subscription. That screen offers a pause of 4, 6, 8 or 10 weeks first: cancelling outright is the 'click here' link at the bottom of it. The deadline decides the money, not the steps. Every order has its own 'Changeable before' date and time shown on your Upcoming page, and Blue Apron states you are responsible for charges on any order processed after it.

Before you start.

  • Find your cutoff before you do anything else. Blue Apron does not use one fixed deadline: each order carries its own 'Changeable before' date and time, shown on your Upcoming page next to the Manage button and in Account Settings.
  • Look at the status of each upcoming order. Anything already marked 'Order Processed' or 'Shipped' has been processed and cannot be skipped or cancelled, so cancelling the plan today does not stop it.
  • Decide between skipping and cancelling. Blue Apron lets you skip orders up to five weeks ahead, which stops the boxes without closing the account.
  • Expect a pause offer before the cancel option. The Pause/Cancel Subscription screen leads with pauses of 4, 6, 8 or 10 weeks, and a pause is not a cancellation.
  • Blue Apron charges the card on your account rather than billing through Apple or Google, so there is nothing to cancel in your phone's subscription settings even though Blue Apron has an app.

FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE

Cancel Blue Apron, step by step.

Cancel on the Blue Apron website

This is the route Blue Apron documents. The cancel option is not a button of its own: it sits at the bottom of the pause screen.

  1. Sign in at blueapron.com and open your Account Settings.
  2. Go to the Plan Settings page.
  3. Click Edit, then Pause/Cancel Subscription.
  4. Skip past the pause options for 4, 6, 8 or 10 weeks, and use the 'click here' link at the bottom of that page to cancel.
  5. Work through the remaining prompts until you see a confirmation, and keep the confirmation email.

A pause is the default the screen pushes you toward. If you wanted to leave, check afterwards that the account shows as cancelled rather than paused for a number of weeks.

Skip deliveries instead of cancelling

If the plan is worth keeping but the next few boxes are not, skipping stops the charges without closing the account. Blue Apron allows skips up to five weeks in advance.

  1. Sign in and open your Upcoming page.
  2. Find the delivery you want to stop and click the Manage button to the right of the delivery date.
  3. Select Skip delivery.
  4. Repeat for each week you want to miss, and check each one against its own 'Changeable before' date.
  5. To reverse a skip, select Unskip next to that date before the same cutoff.

Each order has its own cutoff, so skipping four weeks means meeting four separate deadlines rather than one.

Cancel through customer support

Use this when the cancel link will not complete, or when you need the cancellation on record in writing.

  1. Email the Blue Apron Customer Experience team at contact@blueapron.com.
  2. Ask explicitly for the subscription to be cancelled, not paused.
  3. Include the email address on the account and the date you first tried to cancel.
  4. Keep the reply: it is your evidence if a later box is charged.

What happens next?

  • Cancelling stops future orders being created. It does not reach back to an order already marked Order Processed or Shipped, and Blue Apron states you are responsible for charges on any order processed after the 'Changeable before' date.
  • Cancelling the subscription is not the same as closing the account. Your login and order history remain, which is what makes reactivating easy later.
  • Blue Apron sends a reminder before an order is finalised, so the reminder email is the last practical warning that a cutoff is approaching.
  • A Blue Apron Wine membership is billed separately from the meal plan and is cancelled on its own. Ending one leaves the other running.

WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK

If you get stuck.

I cancelled and a box still arrived

Check the status that order had when you cancelled. Blue Apron states that orders showing 'Order Processed' or 'Shipped' have already been processed and cannot be cancelled, and that you are responsible for charges on orders processed after the 'Changeable before' date. A box in that state is the expected outcome, not a failed cancellation.

I cannot find the cancel option, only pause

That matches the real layout. Plan Settings, Edit, then Pause/Cancel Subscription opens a page whose main offers are pauses of 4, 6, 8 or 10 weeks. Cancelling is the 'click here' link at the bottom of that page, which is easy to read past.

My cutoff is different from the one a friend has

It is meant to be. Blue Apron sets the cutoff per order rather than as one global rule, and it varies with your delivery day and region. The only cutoff that governs your box is the 'Changeable before' date and time shown on your own Upcoming page.

I paused months ago and have started being charged again

A pause runs for a fixed number of weeks, 4, 6, 8 or 10, and deliveries resume automatically when it ends. If you meant to stop permanently, go back and cancel, because a pause always has an expiry date.

I cancelled the meal plan but a wine charge continues

Blue Apron Wine is a separate membership with its own cancellation, so ending the meal subscription leaves it untouched. Cancel the wine membership separately through the help centre or support.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered.

How do I cancel my Blue Apron subscription?

Sign in, open Account Settings, go to Plan Settings, click Edit and then Pause/Cancel Subscription. On that page the pause options come first: use the 'click here' link at the bottom to cancel, and keep the confirmation.

What is the Blue Apron cancellation deadline?

There is no single deadline. Each order has its own 'Changeable before' date and time, shown on your Upcoming page next to the Manage button and in Account Settings. That is the moment after which the order is processed and charged.

Can I cancel a box that has already been charged?

No. Blue Apron states that an order marked 'Order Processed' or 'Shipped' has already been processed and cannot be cancelled, and that you are responsible for charges on orders processed after the cutoff.

Does cancelling Blue Apron delete my account?

No. Cancelling ends the subscription so no further orders are created, while the account and its history stay in place. Blue Apron documents a separate reactivation process for returning later.
