Before you start.
- Work out who charged you first. Canva states that how you cancel depends on where you originally subscribed, and tells you to check your billing email or bank statement to confirm whether the charge came from Canva, Google, Apple or PayPal.
- Consider pausing rather than cancelling. Canva states you can pause a Canva Pro, Canva Teams or Canva Business plan for up to 3 months with no charges during the pause, that the plan resumes automatically, and that it sends an email reminder before it restarts. On an annual plan Canva states you can pause only when you have less than two months until renewal.
- Pausing is not offered on every route. Canva states that pausing is not available from the iOS App Store and that an App Store plan can only be cancelled.
- Cancelling Canva Teams is a one-way door. Canva states that cancelling Canva Teams is permanent, that you will not be able to resubscribe to Teams, and that switching to Canva Business is the alternative if you think you may want a team plan later.
- Refunds are the exception, not the rule. Canva states that in most cases subscriptions are not refundable as set out in its Terms of Use, that it reviews every request, and that refunds usually are not possible.
- A cancelled or expired card does not stop the billing. Canva states that some banks keep recurring subscriptions active even when the physical card is cancelled or expired, using automatic card-update services so recurring payments can continue.
- Check which Canva account and which team holds the subscription before you look for the button. Canva lists being signed in to the wrong account, or not being in the team that holds the subscription, as reasons the cancel option is missing.
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel Canva Pro, step by step.
Cancel a plan Canva bills
This is the route for a subscription bought on the Canva website or desktop app, where Canva takes the payment itself.
- Log in to the right Canva account or team.
- On the homepage, select your account profile to open the menu.
- Select Settings.
- Go to Billing, or Contract period if you are in Japan.
- On your plan, select Cancel plan.
- Select Continue cancellation.
- Choose why you want to cancel, then select Continue cancellation again.
- Select Cancel subscription.
Canva states you will receive a confirmation email when the plan is cancelled. It also states that if you change your mind while the subscription is still active you can go to the Billing page and select Stay on Canva Teams, Canva Business, Canva Pro or Canva Pro Lite.
Cancel on iPhone or iPad
Canva sells Pro and its other tiers as in-app purchases, and an App Store purchase is billed by Apple. Canva states you cannot cancel these inside the Canva app.
- On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings.
- Tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Canva.
- Tap Cancel Subscription, then confirm.
Canva states that for mobile subscriptions, uninstalling the app does not cancel your plan, and that the plan has to be cancelled through the device's app store. Canva also states that pausing is not available on this route.
Cancel on Android
A subscription bought inside the Android app is billed by Google Play, and Canva points at the Play Store settings for it.
- On your Android device, open the Google Play Store.
- Tap your profile icon, then tap Payments and subscriptions.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Find your Canva plan and tap Cancel subscription.
- Follow the prompts to confirm.
Canva states that if you cannot find the Canva subscription in Google Play you may be signed in to a different Google account, and suggests switching accounts in Google Play and checking again.
Pause instead of cancelling
Canva offers a three month pause as an alternative, and it lives inside the same cancellation flow rather than in a separate menu. This matters because a reader looking for a pause button will not find one.
- Make sure you are logged in to the correct Canva account or team.
- On the homepage, select your account profile to open the menu.
- Select Settings, then go to Billing.
- On your plan, select Cancel plan.
- Select Continue cancelation.
- On the next screen, select I want to pause my subscription, then select Continue cancelation.
- Select Pause for 3 months to confirm.
Canva states the pause begins once your current billing period ends and the plan resumes automatically after three months, that premium feature access is paused too, and that free access to Affinity through your Canva account continues.
What happens next?
- Canva states that cancelling stops future payments and that you keep access to paid features until the end of the current billing period.
- Your work is not deleted. Canva states that all designs remain accessible on Canva Free and that your Canva account stays active.
- Canva states that Affinity remains accessible for free with your Canva account after a cancellation.
- On a team plan, Canva states that team members lose access to paid features at the end of the billing period, that all designs, Brand Kit content and shared folders are retained on Canva Free, that the team workspace moves to the free plan, and that the team admin remains the account owner.
- Canva states that cancelling Canva Teams is permanent and that you will not be able to resubscribe to Teams afterwards.
- Cancelling and refunding are separate. Canva states that to stop future charges you can cancel at any time, and directs refund questions to its refunds article, where it states most subscriptions are not refundable.
Pausing or freezing Canva Pro.
Can I pause Canva instead of cancelling?
Yes, for three months. Canva states there are no charges during the pause and the plan resumes automatically with an email reminder first. The option sits inside the cancellation flow: select Cancel plan, then Continue cancelation, then I want to pause my subscription. Canva states that pausing is not available from the iOS App Store.

I cancelled and Canva is still charging me
Canva names three causes. You may have more than one Canva account and cancelled only one, so search your inbox for Canva billing emails to see whether you are subscribed under a different email address. You may have subscribed through Google Play or the App Store, in which case the cancellation has to happen there. Or the cancellation did not go through: Canva states that a cancellation produces a confirmation email, so if you cannot find one, try cancelling again.
There is no cancel option in my Canva settings
Canva lists the reasons: you are not signed in to the Canva account that holds the subscription, you are not in the team that holds it, or you subscribed through Google Play or the App Store, which Canva states cannot be cancelled directly in the Canva app. Check the email under the Your account tab, and use the profile icon to switch to the team that holds the plan before trying again.
I was charged a day before my free trial ended
Canva states that its billing system runs on UTC, that depending on your time zone a charge can appear a day earlier than expected, and that nothing needs to be done because this is normal and does not mean there is an issue with your billing. It is still worth cancelling a day or two early rather than on the last day, since Apple advises cancelling at least 24 hours before a renewal.
I cancelled my card and the charges kept coming
Canva states that some banks keep recurring subscriptions active even when the physical card is cancelled or expired, because automatic card-update services let recurring payments continue without interruption. Cancelling the card is not a cancellation. The subscription has to be stopped with whoever bills it: Canva, Apple or Google.
I cancelled Canva Teams and now I cannot get it back
That is the documented behaviour. Canva states that cancelling Canva Teams is permanent and that you will not be able to resubscribe to Teams. It suggests switching to Canva Business instead if you expect to want a team plan in future. The designs themselves are safe: Canva states that designs, Brand Kit content and shared folders are retained on Canva Free.

How do I cancel Canva Pro?
