Before you start.
- Allow time. Course Hero states cancellations are effective within 7 business days, so a cancellation made a day or two before renewal may not stop that charge.
- Check where you signed up. Course Hero sends Apple and Google Play members to those stores to cancel and for billing questions.
- Consider a pause. Course Hero's Account Settings page lets a website member pause the membership and use the remaining time later. Store-billed memberships cannot be paused or downgraded.
- Cancel before you try to delete the account. Course Hero states deletion is not available while a paid membership is active.

Cancel on the Course Hero website
This is the route for a membership bought on coursehero.com. The cancel option is a button labelled Stop Recurring Membership rather than Cancel.
- Log in to Course Hero.
- Hover over or click your profile picture in the top-right corner and select My Account to open Account Settings.
- Click the Stop Recurring Membership button.
- Follow the instructions on the page to confirm the cancellation.
- Wait for the email confirming your membership has been cancelled, and keep it.
Course Hero states the cancellation is effective within 7 business days and that all debts and fees must be paid before it can take effect.
Cancel an Apple-billed Course Hero membership
Course Hero states all in-app purchases made on iOS are managed directly through Apple, so the website button does not apply.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Course Hero.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
If Course Hero is not listed, search your email for a receipt from Apple and sign in with the Apple Account shown on it.
Cancel a Google Play-billed Course Hero membership
Course Hero directs members who signed up through the Google Play store to cancel in their Google Play account.
- Open your subscriptions in Google Play on your Android device.
- Select the Course Hero subscription.
- Tap Cancel subscription.
- Follow the instructions to confirm.
Google states that uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription.
What happens next?
- Premier access continues until the membership period you paid for expires. After that the account reverts to a Basic (free) membership rather than closing.
- Cancelling does not automatically refund new or recent recurring charges. Course Hero states a renewal charge can be refunded in full if you have not used any Unlocks or Questions since it, on request through Contact Us.
- Cancelling does not delete your account. Once the Premier membership has ended, Account Settings has a Delete Account button for the free account.
- Refunds for Apple purchases go through Apple. Course Hero states its own support team handles Android in-app purchase requests.

How do I cancel an App Store free trial before I’m charged?
For a trial billed by Apple, open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Select the trial, choose the cancellation option and confirm. Apple advises cancelling at least 24 hours before the trial ends to prevent renewal. Check the confirmation for your access end date. If you track it in Subex, enter the date the trial converts as the renewal date and set a reminder 1 or 3 days before.
How do I cancel a Google Play free trial before it renews?
Open your subscriptions in Google Play using the Google Account that started the trial. Select the plan, choose Cancel subscription and complete the confirmation steps before the trial expires. Otherwise, the paid subscription begins automatically under the offer’s terms. Uninstalling the app does not stop renewal. If you track it in Subex, enter the date the trial converts as the renewal date and set a reminder 1 or 3 days before.

Can I pause Course Hero instead of cancelling?
Website members can pause from Account Settings and use the remaining Premier time later. Course Hero states memberships bought through Google Play or Apple cannot be paused or downgraded.

I cancelled but Course Hero renewed anyway
Check the date you cancelled against the renewal date: Course Hero states cancellations take up to 7 business days to take effect. If you renewed and have not used any Unlocks or Questions since, Course Hero states you can request a full refund through its Contact Us button, processed within 1 business day.
I cannot find Stop Recurring Membership
The button is on the Account Settings page, reached from your profile picture in the top-right corner. If you subscribed in the iPhone or Android app, the membership is billed by Apple or Google and has to be cancelled in that store instead.
The Delete Account button will not work
Course Hero does not allow deletion while a paid membership is active. Stop the recurring membership first, wait for the Premier period to end, then delete the free account from Account Settings.
I was charged but never meant to subscribe
Course Hero states a charge means the account was upgraded to Premier at some point, which enrols it in a membership that renews until the recurring payment is cancelled. If you are sure you never signed up, contact Course Hero support.

How do I cancel my Course Hero membership?
