SOFTWARE & PRODUCTIVITYSubscription cancellation guide

How to cancel Facetune subscription.

Lightricks, which makes Facetune, states that deleting the app does not cancel your subscription and that you have to cancel through the platform where it was originally purchased. On iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, your Facetune subscription, Cancel Subscription. On Android: Google Play, your subscriptions, the Facetune subscription, Cancel Subscription. If you signed up on the website: facetuneapp.com/account, My Account, log in, then the Cancel Subscription button below your plan. Lightricks states you should cancel before your next billing date to avoid being charged again.

Before you start.

  • Identify the platform first. Lightricks names three: the App Store on iOS, the Google Play Store, and the Facetune website. It states you must cancel through the platform where the subscription was originally purchased.
  • Lightricks states that signing up through its website gives you more flexibility to manage your plan directly, which is a useful hint about where a subscription that is missing from both stores probably lives.
  • The free trial takes payment details up front. Lightricks states that starting a free trial requires selecting a VIP plan and entering payment details, and that you will only be charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before that date.
  • Lightricks describes the trial as optional and shown as a pop-up on first use, which you can close by tapping the X in the top right corner. If you did not mean to start one, that is where it began.
  • Know what you drop to, because Facetune's free tier is unusually restrictive. Lightricks states that free tools let you edit, experiment and save up to 3 photos per week, that the weekly saves reset each week and do not roll over, and that your saved images will have a small watermark.
  • Lightricks states that VIP tools can be previewed but that you will not be able to confirm or save edits made with them unless you upgrade, so any work in progress that relies on a VIP tool needs finishing before the plan ends.
  • Lightricks publishes no refund window of its own. It states that for an App Store purchase all billing, cancellations and refunds are managed directly by Apple, that Google manages payment and refund options for a Play purchase, and that it can help directly only with website purchases.
  • Lightricks' help centre carries several near-identical copies of the same cancellation and refund articles under different IDs, so if a page looks familiar you have probably seen the same content before rather than a different rule.

FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE

Cancel Facetune, step by step.

Cancel on iPhone or iPad

Apple bills an App Store purchase, and Lightricks states that Apple manages billing, cancellations and refunds for those directly.

  1. Open your iPhone Settings.
  2. Tap your name.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Find your Facetune subscription and tap on it.
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription.

Lightricks states you should cancel before your next billing date to avoid being charged again. Apple advises at least 24 hours before the renewal, which is the safer margin, especially on a trial that is about to convert.

Cancel on Android

Google Play bills a subscription bought in the Android app, and Lightricks states Google manages payment and refund options for it.

  1. Open Google Play on your Android device.
  2. Navigate to your subscriptions.
  3. Find your Facetune subscription and tap on it.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription and follow the on-screen instructions.

In the current Play Store the path is the profile icon, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Confirm afterwards that the entry shows an expiry date rather than a renewal date.

Cancel a subscription bought on the Facetune website

A website purchase is billed by Lightricks rather than by a store, and it will never appear in an Apple or Google subscription list. Lightricks states this is the channel where it can help you directly.

  1. Head to facetuneapp.com/account.
  2. Tap My Account.
  3. Log in with your account email address.
  4. Locate the Cancel Subscription button below your plan.
  5. Confirm the cancellation.

Lightricks states that for a website purchase it can help you directly, and asks for a screenshot of the charge or your purchase receipt and the email address used at the time of purchase.

What happens next?

  • The plan runs to the end of the period you paid for. Cancelling stops the renewal rather than ending the access you already bought.
  • Watermarks come back. Lightricks states that on the free tier your saved images will have a small watermark.
  • Saving is capped. Lightricks states that free tools let you save up to 3 photos per week, that the weekly saves reset every week, and that they do not roll over.
  • VIP tools become preview-only. Lightricks states that you can preview how they work but will not be able to confirm or save edits made with them unless you upgrade.
  • Photos you already exported to your camera roll are yours and are not affected by the subscription ending.
  • Refunds go to whoever billed you. Lightricks states Apple manages refunds for App Store purchases and Google for Play purchases, and that it handles website purchases itself. It publishes no refund window of its own.

WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK

If you get stuck.

Facetune is not in my App Store or Play Store subscriptions

Then a store did not sell it to you. Lightricks names the Facetune website as a third channel and even recommends it, saying that signing up through its website gives you more flexibility to manage your plan directly. Go to facetuneapp.com/account, tap My Account and log in with the email address you used. Also check you are signed in to the store account that actually paid, since a subscription bought on someone else's device belongs to their account.

I deleted the app and I am still being charged

Lightricks states plainly that deleting the app does not cancel your subscription and that you have to cancel through the platform where it was originally purchased. Reinstalling is not necessary: go to the store subscription list, or to facetuneapp.com/account for a website purchase.

My free trial charged me

Lightricks states that starting a free trial requires selecting a VIP plan and entering payment details, and that you will be charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before that date. If the charge has already landed, the cancellation stops the next one but does not reverse this one: refunds go to Apple, Google or Lightricks depending on who billed you, and Lightricks publishes no window of its own.

My saved photos suddenly have a watermark

That is the free tier rather than a bug. Lightricks states that on the free tier your saved images will have a small watermark and that you can save up to 3 photos per week, with the weekly allowance resetting and not rolling over. Photos exported while the subscription was active are unaffected.

I found several Lightricks help pages saying slightly different things

Lightricks publishes multiple copies of its cancellation and refund articles under different IDs, so the same content appears at several addresses. The substance is consistent: cancel on the platform that sold it, deleting the app does not cancel, and refunds follow the biller. If two pages appear to conflict on a deadline, treat the store's own published rule as authoritative for a store purchase.
