In this guide
Before you start.
- Check the cadence first, because iScanner's App Store listing carries explicitly weekly tiers, described as one week Pro plans with different storage allowances, alongside unlabelled Premium tiers at higher prices. A weekly plan renews about every seven days.
- Work to the 24 hour rule, which iScanner states twice. It states you should cancel a subscription with a free trial at least 24 hours before the trial period ends, and cancel a paid subscription at least 24 hours before the renewal date, meaning before the current billing cycle ends.
- Cancelling a trial cuts you off immediately. iScanner states that once you cancel your free trial you will lose access to Premium subscription features, unlike a paid period which runs to its end.
- iScanner does not publish a trial length, so the end date shown in your store subscription settings is the only figure to trust rather than counting days from when you installed it.
- If you bought on iScanner's website, neither store can help you. iScanner states that a subscription purchased on the app's website cannot be controlled through the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store and can be managed only through the website, under a separate set of terms from the in-app ones.
- Deleting the app or the account changes nothing. iScanner states that removing the app from your device or deleting your iScanner account does not deactivate, suspend or cancel your subscription, and that the subscription remains active within the platform where it was purchased until you cancel it.
- Get your scans out before the period ends. iScanner describes files syncing through cloud storage and being manageable from a browser using the web version, and does not publish what happens to stored documents once a subscription lapses, so export anything you need while you still have full access.
- There is no iScanner refund policy. It states that in some cases Apple or Google may give refunds for purchases made through their stores, which defers the whole question to them.
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel iScanner, step by step.
Cancel on iPhone or iPad
Apple bills an in-app purchase, and iScanner states that a subscription can only be managed through the platform it was bought on. Its own terms point at Apple's support article for turning off auto-renewal.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name at the top, which is your Apple Account.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select iScanner from the list.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
- Do this at least 24 hours before the renewal or trial end date, which is the deadline iScanner states.
If the app's own manage screen offers upgrades but no cancellation, that is expected: the cancellation lives in Apple's settings rather than in the app.
Cancel on Android
Google Play bills a purchase made in the Android app, and iScanner directs Android cancellations to Google's own instructions.
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon in the top right.
- Select Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select iScanner.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
- Confirm the entry now shows an expiry date rather than a renewal date.
Google states it cannot cancel a subscription on your behalf: the account holder has to complete it. Google's refund window is short before the decision passes to the developer.
Cancel a subscription bought on the iScanner website
iScanner sells on its website as well, under separate terms, and states plainly that such a subscription can only be managed through the website. It will never appear in a store subscription list.
- Sign in on the iScanner website with the account that holds the subscription.
- Open the account or subscription area and look for the plan and its renewal date.
- Cancel or turn off the auto-renewal there, at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
- If you cannot find the control, use BP Mobile's support form, which offers a How to Manage and Cancel Your Subscription enquiry type.
- Keep the confirmation you receive, since this channel has no store record to fall back on.
iScanner states that the terms governing in-app subscriptions do not govern website subscriptions, which are under a separate agreement, so the rules you read in the app may not be the ones that apply to your purchase.
Use the BP Mobile support form
iScanner's developer publishes a web form rather than self-serve help articles, and its enquiry types cover exactly this situation.
- Open the iScanner support page.
- Choose How to Manage and Cancel Your Subscription from the dropdown, or How to Request a Refund if that is what you need.
- Fill in your name, email and a message with the purchase details and the date.
- Use the same email address the receipt was sent to.
- Remember that support cannot cancel a subscription Apple or Google is billing: that still has to happen in the store.
What happens next?
- A paid period runs to its end. Apple and Google both leave a cancelled subscription active until the end of the period you already paid for.
- A cancelled trial does not. iScanner states that once you cancel your free trial you will lose access to Premium subscription features.
- iScanner states that removing the app from your device or deleting your iScanner account does not deactivate, suspend or cancel your subscription, and that it remains active within the platform where it was purchased until you cancel it.
- Deleting the account narrows where the subscription works. iScanner states that if a registered user with multiplatform access to Premium features deletes their account, those features remain active only within the platform where the subscription was initially purchased.
- iScanner publishes nothing about what happens to documents already scanned and stored once a subscription ends, which is a reason to export them beforehand rather than after.
- Refunds are not iScanner's to give. It states that in some cases Apple or Google may give refunds for purchases made through their stores, and publishes no window or policy of its own.
WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK
If you get stuck.
The app lets me upgrade but not cancel
That is a common complaint and it follows from how the app is billed. iScanner states that a subscription bought in the app is billed through Apple's or Google's in-app purchase systems and can only be managed by the rules of that platform, so the cancellation control is in the store rather than in the app. Go to Settings, your name, Subscriptions on iPhone, or the Play Store under Payments and subscriptions on Android.
iScanner is not in either store's subscription list
Check the account first: the list only shows purchases made with the account you are signed in to. If neither store has it under the right account, the purchase was made on iScanner's website, which it states cannot be controlled through the App Store or Google Play and can be managed only through the website. Its support form has an enquiry type for exactly that.
I deleted the app and the charges continued
iScanner states this outright: removing the app from your device or deleting your iScanner account does not deactivate, suspend or cancel your subscription, and it remains active within the platform where it was purchased until you cancel it there. Reinstalling is not needed, only the store subscription list.
I cannot get to my old scans without paying again
iScanner does not publish what happens to stored documents when a subscription lapses, which is precisely why it is worth exporting them before the paid period ends rather than after. It describes files syncing through cloud storage and being manageable from a browser using the web version, so downloading while the subscription is still active is the reliable route.
I was charged again days after subscribing
Check the period on your subscription. iScanner's App Store listing carries one week Pro tiers alongside longer ones, so a weekly plan renews about every seven days. The renewal period is shown next to the price in your store subscription settings, and iScanner states the cancellation has to come at least 24 hours before the current billing cycle ends.
GOOD TO KNOW
Questions, answered.
How do I cancel my iScanner subscription?
In the platform that billed you. On iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, iScanner, Cancel Subscription. On Android: Play Store, profile icon, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, Cancel subscription. A purchase made on the iScanner website can only be managed through the website.
Does deleting iScanner cancel the subscription?
No. iScanner states that removing the app from your device or deleting your iScanner account does not deactivate, suspend or cancel your subscription, and that it remains active within the platform where it was purchased until you cancel it.
When should I cancel an iScanner trial?
At least 24 hours before it ends, which is the deadline iScanner states. Note that it also states cancelling the trial makes you lose access to Premium features immediately, so you do not keep the rest of the trial period.
Can I get a refund from iScanner?
iScanner publishes no refund policy of its own. It states that in some cases Apple or Google may give refunds for purchases made through their stores, and its support form offers a How to Request a Refund enquiry type, but the decision sits with whoever took the payment.
Why is iScanner charging me weekly?
Because there are weekly tiers. Its App Store listing carries one week Pro plans with different storage allowances alongside the longer Premium ones. Your store subscription settings show the renewal period next to the price, which is the reliable way to tell which plan you are on.
