In this guide
Before you start.
- Work out who bills you before you touch the profile. Hinge sells through Apple, Google Play and its own Stripe-backed payment, and only the last of those is cancelled by deleting the account. The receipt email says which one it is.
- Hinge states that a subscription should be cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged, and that this requirement comes from Apple, Google and Stripe and cannot be changed.
- Cancel first and delete the profile afterwards. Deleting first removes your way into the in-app subscription screen while leaving an Apple or Google plan running.
- Roses and Boosts are separate one-off purchases rather than part of Hinge+ or HingeX. Hinge states that purchased Roses do not expire until you use them, and cancelling a subscription neither removes nor refunds them.
- If you are on a free trial, count back from the trial end date rather than the renewal date shown on the plan. The 24-hour margin applies to the moment the trial converts.
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel Hinge, step by step.
Cancel on iPhone or iPad
Apple bills the subscription when you subscribed in the iOS app. Hinge states that purchases made through an external service have to be cancelled through that service's account to avoid additional billing.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name (your Apple Account) at the top of the screen.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select Hinge from the list of active subscriptions.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
Do this at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Hinge states this margin is required by Apple and cannot be waived by Hinge support.
Cancel on Android
Google Play bills the subscription when you subscribed in the Android app. Google is the only party that can stop that plan.
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon in the top right.
- Select Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select Hinge.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts to confirm.
Google states that it cannot cancel a subscription on your behalf. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal, which Hinge states is a Google requirement rather than a Hinge policy.
Cancel a Hinge payment subscription
Hinge also sells directly through its own payment, powered by Stripe. Hinge states that a subscription bought this way can be cancelled at any time by following the steps provided by Stripe, and that deleting the Hinge account cancels it immediately.
- Open Hinge and go to your subscription settings from your profile.
- Find the active Hinge+ or HingeX subscription and open it.
- Choose the cancellation option and follow the prompts through to a confirmation.
- Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date, which Hinge states is required and cannot be changed.
- Keep the confirmation, and check that the plan now shows an end date rather than a renewal date.
This is the one channel where deleting the account also ends the billing. If you paid Apple or Google instead, deleting changes nothing about the charge.
What happens next?
- Cancelling stops the renewal. The paid features usually remain until the end of the period you already paid for rather than ending the moment you confirm.
- Deleting the Hinge profile is a separate action from cancelling. Hinge states that it cancels a Hinge payment subscription immediately but that an App Store or Google Play subscription still has to be cancelled with that store.
- Roses and Boosts bought as one-off purchases are not part of the subscription. They are not refunded when you cancel, and Hinge states purchased Roses do not expire until used.
- A refund is requested from whoever took the payment. Apple and Google each run their own process and decide under their own policies, not Hinge's.
- Downgrading from HingeX to Hinge+ is a change of plan rather than a cancellation, and through a store it usually means cancelling the current plan and subscribing to the other one.

How do I cancel an App Store free trial before I’m charged?
For a trial billed by Apple, open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Select the trial, choose the cancellation option and confirm. Apple advises cancelling at least 24 hours before the trial ends to prevent renewal. Check the confirmation for your access end date. If you track it in Subex, enter the date the trial converts as the renewal date and set a reminder 1 or 3 days before.
WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK
If you get stuck.
I deleted my Hinge account and I am still being charged
Deletion only ends the billing when Hinge itself took the payment through its Stripe-backed Hinge payment. If Apple or Google charged you, the subscription sits with that store, which has no idea the profile is gone, and it keeps renewing. Open Subscriptions on your iPhone or in the Play Store, find the Hinge entry, and cancel it there. You do not need to reinstall the app or recreate the account to do this.
Hinge does not appear in my App Store or Play Store subscriptions
The list shows only subscriptions bought with the account currently signed in, so a second Apple ID or Google account is the usual cause. Check which address the receipt went to. If there is no store receipt at all, the payment went through Hinge payment, which is managed in the app rather than in a store, and support can help when the profile is already deleted.
I cancelled and was charged anyway the next day
Hinge states that cancellation has to happen at least 24 hours before the renewal date and that Apple, Google and Stripe all impose this. A cancellation inside that window applies to the period after the one that just renewed, so the charge stands. Check the subscription screen for an expiry date: if it shows one, the cancellation worked and only the timing was late.
I bought Roses and cancelling did not refund them
Roses and Boosts are one-off purchases rather than parts of Hinge+ or HingeX, so a subscription cancellation does not touch them. Hinge states that purchased Roses do not expire until used, so they remain on the account. A refund for them is a separate request to whichever store sold them.
My account was banned and I cannot open the app to cancel
A banned Hinge account does not stop a store subscription, and it blocks the in-app route. Cancel through Apple or Google instead: neither needs you to open Hinge. Only a Hinge payment subscription depends on app access, and that is the one case where contacting Hinge support with the receipt is the route.
Still not cancelled?Common reasons a subscription will not cancel How to cancel an app subscription
GOOD TO KNOW
Questions, answered.
Does deleting my Hinge account cancel my subscription?
Only sometimes. Hinge states that deleting the account immediately cancels a subscription bought with Hinge payment, powered by Stripe. A subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play is not cancelled by deletion and has to be cancelled with that store.
How do I cancel Hinge+ or HingeX?
Cancel it where you paid. On iPhone, Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Hinge. On Android, the Play Store under Payments & subscriptions. If Hinge billed you directly, use the subscription settings in the app. Hinge+ and HingeX are tiers of the same subscription, so one cancellation covers whichever you hold.
How long before renewal do I need to cancel Hinge?
Hinge states at least 24 hours before the renewal date, and that this is required by Apple, Google and Hinge payment rather than set by Hinge. A cancellation inside that window does not stop the renewal that is already in progress.
Can I get a refund for a Hinge subscription?
A refund is a separate request from a cancellation, and it goes to whoever took the payment. Apple and Google both run their own refund processes and decide under their own policies. Cancelling first stops the next charge while the refund request is considered.
