Before you start.
- Cancel the membership before you delete the account. POF states that an external service purchase has to be cancelled through that service to avoid additional billing, and deletion does not touch it.
- Check the receipt to see who charged you. POF states that if you used Google Play to upgrade, you have to use Google Play to change it, because only you can edit subscriptions from Google. A charge from POF itself points to the website route.
- On POF the setting to look for is the rebill status rather than a delete button. Turning rebill off is what stops the next charge, and POF publishes a separate help article for doing this with Google Play purchases.
- Check the renewal date and act ahead of it. A subscription that renews before the cancellation completes still charges for that period, and POF states past subscription fees are not refunded after you cancel.
- Tokens and one-off upgrades bought inside the app are not the subscription. Cancelling the recurring membership does not remove them and does not refund them.

Cancel on Android through Google Play
Google Play bills a subscription bought in the Android app. POF states that if you used Google Play to upgrade, you have to use Google Play to change it, because only you can edit subscriptions from Google.
- Open the Google Play app on your Android device.
- Tap the profile icon.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select the Plenty of Fish subscription you want to cancel.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts to confirm.

Cancel a membership bought on the POF website
POF bills you directly when the upgrade was bought on its website rather than through a store. POF documents this route on a desktop computer rather than in the app.
- Log in to your account on a desktop computer rather than the mobile app.
- Find the My Membership section of your account.
- Select the option to cancel your membership.
- Work through every prompt until a confirmation appears, and keep it.
- Check that the account no longer shows a future rebill date.
POF frames this screen as cancel membership or re-subscribe, so the same place that ends the membership is the one that restarts it. Read the confirmation carefully before leaving the page.
What happens next?
- Cancelling stops the rebill. The paid features normally remain for the rest of the period already paid for rather than ending immediately.
- POF states that past subscription fees are not refunded after you cancel, so the cancellation is forward-looking.
- Deleting the account is a separate action, done through Help and then Delete account in the website or app. POF states you still need to cancel an external service purchase separately to avoid additional billing.
- POF's terms state that purchases are generally final and nonrefundable. Subscribers residing in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland are entitled to a full refund during the 14 days after the subscription begins, measured from its start rather than from a renewal.
- A Google Play charge is refunded by Google under Google's own process and policy, whatever POF's own terms say about it.

I deleted my POF account and the charges continue
POF states that you have to cancel or manage an external service purchase through that external service account to avoid additional billing, and deleting the POF account does not do that. Google Play holds the subscription and never saw the deletion. Open the Play Store, go to Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, and cancel the Plenty of Fish entry there. It stays listed with the dating account gone, and you do not need to make a new POF account to reach it.
I cannot find the cancel option in the POF app
POF documents the website cancellation on a desktop computer, under My Membership, rather than in the mobile app. If you upgraded through Google Play the option is not in POF at all: POF states that only you can edit subscriptions from Google, so the Play Store subscriptions screen is the only place it ends.
Plenty of Fish is missing from my Google Play subscriptions
Play lists only what the signed-in Google account bought, so a second account on the device is the usual cause. Check which address the Google receipt went to. If there is no Google receipt, the upgrade was bought on the POF website and is cancelled there under My Membership on a desktop computer instead.
I turned off rebill but was still charged
Check the date the rebill was switched off against the renewal date. A renewal already in progress still completes, and POF states past subscription fees are not refunded after you cancel. Then confirm the change actually saved: the account should show no future rebill date, and the Play Store entry should show an expiry date rather than a renewal date. If it still shows a renewal date, the cancellation did not go through.
I hold two POF subscriptions at once
This happens when a website upgrade and a Google Play upgrade are bought at different times, because neither channel can see the other. Cancelling one leaves the other charging. Check both: My Membership on the POF website on a desktop, and the Subscriptions list in Google Play under the account that paid.
