Cancel by email
LegalShield's FAQ calls email the easiest way to make the written request its policy requires.
- Write an email to support@legalshieldcorp.com.
- Include your full name, your membership number and your phone number.
- State clearly that you want to cancel the membership, and name IDShield too if you want that cancelled.
- Send it at least five days before your next renewal date.
- Keep a copy of the email and any reply confirming the cancellation.
LegalShield's IDShield FAQ uses the same support address and the same written-request rule for IDShield memberships.
Cancel by mail
LegalShield's cancellation page also accepts a written request by post. It is slower than email, which matters against the five-day deadline.
- Write a cancellation request with your full name, membership number and phone number, and a clear statement that you want to cancel.
- Mail it to LegalShield, One Pre-Paid Way, Ada, Oklahoma 74820.
- Send it early enough to arrive at least five days before your renewal date, and keep proof of when you sent it.
Cancel by phone
LegalShield's cancellation page lists a dedicated phone line for cancelling, open Monday to Friday during Central time business hours.
- Call the cancellation number shown on LegalShield's cancellation page.
- Give your name and membership number.
- Ask for the membership to be cancelled, and ask which date it ends.
- Ask for written confirmation, and note the date of the call.
What happens next?
- LegalShield bills in advance, and its terms require cancellation at least five days before renewal to avoid future charges, so a request sent later may be followed by one more charge.
- Benefits tied to membership length, such as accumulated pre-trial hours, are what LegalShield asks you to call about before you cancel, if you want to keep them.
- You can come back. LegalShield states you can request reinstatement at any time through your LegalShield Associate or Member Services.

I cannot find a cancel button in my LegalShield account
There is not one to find. LegalShield's policy is that all cancellation requests must be provided in writing, with phone as the other documented route. Email support@legalshieldcorp.com with your name, membership number, phone number and the request to cancel.
I was charged after I asked to cancel
Compare the date of your request with the renewal date. LegalShield's terms require cancellation at least five days before renewal, so a request inside that window can still be followed by one more charge. If you sent it in time, reply to LegalShield support with a copy of your email and the date you sent it.
I joined for one legal question and kept paying every month
LegalShield is a prepaid monthly subscription that renews automatically until you cancel it in writing. Using the plan once does not end it. Send the written cancellation now, at least five days before the next renewal.
