LIFESTYLE & FAMILYSubscription cancellation guide

How to cancel TruthFinder subscription.

Log in to TruthFinder and open the Subscriptions page in the Account section of your dashboard, then cancel the membership there. TruthFinder says online cancellations are processed immediately. If you subscribed in the TruthFinder app, cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions instead. Cancelling stops future renewals, but the billing cycle you are in is still billed and stays active until it ends.

Before you start.

  • Cancel before the next term starts. TruthFinder's terms state that memberships renew automatically every 30, 90 or 180 days, depending on the plan, unless you cancel before the start of the next term.
  • Introductory offers are billed as disclosed. TruthFinder's terms say promotional memberships are billed at the rate and frequency shown when you enrolled, so check that sign-up confirmation for when the regular rate begins.
  • Check who bills you. TruthFinder's terms direct memberships bought in the iOS or Android app to the App Store or Google Play subscription settings.
  • Cancelling and opting out are separate. Cancelling stops TruthFinder billing you. Keeping your own background report out of TruthFinder's search results is a suppression request through its privacy center.

FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE

Cancel TruthFinder, step by step.

Cancel on the TruthFinder website

This is the route for a membership bought on truthfinder.com, which is most of them. TruthFinder says it is instant and processed immediately.

  1. Log in at truthfinder.com.
  2. Open the Account section of your dashboard and go to the Subscriptions page.
  3. Cancel the membership listed there and confirm.
  4. Review the Subscriptions page again and make sure every membership listed shows as cancelled.
  5. Note the date you cancelled and keep any confirmation you receive.

TruthFinder states there is no separate cancellation fee, and that bills already issued before the cancellation remain payable.

Cancel through member care

TruthFinder's terms also accept a cancellation by live chat or by phone with its member care team, which works weekdays from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm PT, with different hours on holidays.

  1. Start a live chat, or call member care using the number on TruthFinder's contact page.
  2. Give your account details and ask for the membership to be cancelled.
  3. Wait for the confirmation email. TruthFinder says a phone cancellation is confirmed by email within one hour.
  4. Keep that email with the date of the request.

Cancel an App Store membership

A membership bought in the TruthFinder iOS app is billed by Apple. TruthFinder's terms send you to the App Store account settings on your device to cancel it.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap your name.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Tap the TruthFinder subscription.
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription. You might need to scroll down to find it.

If there is no Cancel button or you see an expiration message in red text, Apple says the subscription is already cancelled.

Cancel a Google Play membership

A membership bought in the TruthFinder Android app is billed by Google Play. TruthFinder's terms say to turn off auto-renew or select Cancel Subscription in the Play Store account settings.

  1. Open the Google Play Store app.
  2. Tap your profile icon in the top right.
  3. Select Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  4. Select the TruthFinder subscription.
  5. Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.

Google states that uninstalling an app does not cancel its subscription.

What happens next?

  • Access continues to the end of the cycle. TruthFinder's terms state you keep the membership through the end of your last paid billing cycle, and that upcoming invoices are cancelled.
  • Bills already issued still have to be paid. Cancelling partway through a cycle does not undo that cycle's charge.
  • Refunds are at TruthFinder's discretion. Its terms state membership plans cannot be returned once purchased and refunds are issued only in limited situations, case by case.
  • A chargeback has consequences. TruthFinder's terms say a chargeback can lead to suspension of the account and prevents a refund on the disputed transaction, so raise a billing problem with member care first.
  • Cancelling does not delete your account data. TruthFinder's privacy center handles a request to delete your user data, and notes that doing so closes the account and cancels every subscription on it.

WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK

If you get stuck.

I ran one search and was charged again a month later

TruthFinder's standard plans are memberships that renew automatically every 30, 90 or 180 days until cancelled, so the first payment is not a one-time report fee. Cancel from the Subscriptions page to stop the next renewal. The charge already issued normally stands, and any refund is at TruthFinder's discretion, so ask member care rather than assuming one.

My trial or introductory price became a full membership charge

TruthFinder's terms treat introductory pricing as a promotional membership billed at the rate and frequency disclosed when you enrolled, after which it renews like any other membership. Cancelling now stops the next renewal. For the charge already made, contact member care; a refund is not guaranteed.

I cancelled but was still charged

TruthFinder bills the current cycle even if you cancel partway through it, and bills issued before the cancellation remain payable. If a new term was charged after your cancellation date, contact member care with the date you cancelled and any confirmation you kept. Also check the Subscriptions page in case a second membership is still active.

TruthFinder is not in my App Store or Google Play subscriptions

Then the membership was most likely bought on the website and is cancelled from the Subscriptions page in your TruthFinder dashboard. If you did buy in the app, check that you are signed in with the Apple ID or Google account that was charged.

I cannot log in to cancel

Use live chat or call member care on weekdays between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm PT, and ask them to cancel the membership. TruthFinder says a phone cancellation is confirmed by email within an hour.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered.

How do I cancel my TruthFinder membership?

Log in, open the Account section of your dashboard and go to the Subscriptions page, then cancel the membership. You can also cancel by live chat or by phone with member care. App Store and Google Play memberships are cancelled in the store.

How long does a TruthFinder cancellation take?

TruthFinder says the request is processed immediately. The membership then stays active, and billed, until the end of the current billing cycle, and does not renew.

Does TruthFinder give refunds?

Only at its discretion. TruthFinder's terms state memberships cannot be returned once purchased and that refunds are issued only in limited situations, on a case-by-case basis. Store purchases are refunded under Apple's or Google's own process.

Is there a fee to cancel TruthFinder?

No. TruthFinder's terms state there is no separate cancellation fee.

Does cancelling TruthFinder remove me from its search results?

No. Cancelling only ends your membership. To stop your own background report from appearing when someone searches your name, TruthFinder asks you to submit a suppression request at suppression.peopleconnect.us/?brand=TruthFinder, which its privacy center links to. That is TruthFinder's own process and is separate from cancelling.

Does deleting the TruthFinder app cancel my membership?

No. Deleting the app leaves the membership running. Cancel it in the store you paid through, or on the TruthFinder website if you bought it there.
