In this guide
Before you start.
- Check the receipt first. An email from Apple or Google means that store bills you and controls the cancellation, and Vivino's terms say plainly that Vivino cannot cancel those for you.
- Note the renewal date. Vivino's terms state subscriptions renew automatically for successive periods of the same length unless you cancel before the end of the current one, so an annual plan renews for another year.
- Cancelling does not cut your access short. Vivino's terms state that if you cancel during a billing period you keep the Premium features for the rest of the period you have paid for.
- Your wine ratings, reviews and scanned label history belong to your Vivino account rather than to Premium, so they are not what cancelling removes.
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel Vivino, step by step.
Cancel on iPhone or iPad
Apple bills the subscription when it was bought in the App Store, so it is cancelled in iOS Settings rather than inside Vivino.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name (your Apple Account) at the top of the screen.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select Vivino from the list of active subscriptions.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
If Vivino is not listed, you are signed in with a different Apple ID than the one that paid. The receipt email shows which account was charged.
Cancel on Android
Google Play bills the subscription when it was bought on Android, and Vivino's terms confirm Google administers cancellation in that case.
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon in the top right.
- Select Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select Vivino.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts to confirm.
Google states that it cannot cancel a subscription on your behalf: the account holder has to complete it.
Cancel a subscription bought directly from Vivino
Where Vivino is the merchant of record, its terms point to the cancellation tools in your account settings, or to customer support.
- Sign in to your Vivino account on the website or in the app.
- Open your account settings and find the Premium or subscription section.
- Use the cancellation option there, or contact Vivino customer support if it is not available.
- Check for confirmation that the subscription will not renew.
Vivino's terms state that cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and that the cancellation method is at least as easy as the method used to subscribe.
What happens next?
- Vivino's terms state that cancelling during a billing period leaves your access to the Premium features running for the remainder of the period already paid for, and stops the renewal at the end of it.
- Your Vivino account itself continues after Premium ends. Ratings, reviews and your scan history are part of the account rather than the subscription.
- Refunds for a direct subscription are at Vivino's discretion outside the statutory withdrawal rights, so cancelling and being refunded are separate questions.
- Refunds for an App Store or Google Play purchase go to that store under its own policy. Vivino's terms state it cannot process those refunds directly.
- Consumers in the EU, EEA and UK have a statutory right to withdraw within 14 days of entering the contract, though Vivino's terms note that right can end once you have consented to immediate access to the digital content.
WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK
If you get stuck.
Vivino is not in my App Store or Google Play subscriptions
The list only shows what was bought with the account you are signed in to. Check the receipt to see which Apple ID or Google account paid, and remember a subscription bought on an iPhone never appears in Google Play. If no store receipt exists, the subscription was probably bought directly from Vivino and is cancelled in your Vivino account settings.
Vivino support says it cannot cancel my subscription
That matches its published terms. Where Apple or Google is the merchant of record, Vivino states it cannot cancel store subscriptions on your behalf, and the cancellation has to be done in that store's subscription settings.
I cancelled and Premium still works
That is the documented outcome. Vivino's terms state you keep the Premium features for the remainder of the period you have already paid for, so access continues until the end date and then stops.
I deleted the Vivino app and was charged again
Removing an app never cancels a subscription. Apple and Google keep billing until the subscription itself is cancelled in the store settings, so go to Subscriptions on the device rather than reinstalling.
I was charged for a full year without warning
Vivino's terms state subscriptions renew automatically for periods of the same length at the price in effect at renewal, so an annual plan renews annually. Vivino also states that renewal reminders are sent before each annual renewal where the law requires it, which for many readers means checking the email address on the account.
GOOD TO KNOW
Questions, answered.
How do I cancel Vivino Premium?
Cancel it where you bought it. On iPhone: Settings, your Apple Account name, Subscriptions, Vivino, Cancel Subscription. On Android: Play Store, profile icon, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, Vivino, Cancel subscription. If you bought it directly from Vivino, use the cancellation tools in your account settings or contact Vivino support.
Do I lose my wine ratings and reviews if I cancel?
No. Your ratings, reviews and scan history belong to your Vivino account, which continues after Premium ends. Cancelling stops the Premium features rather than deleting your account.
Can I get a refund on Vivino Premium?
It depends on who sold it. For a direct subscription, Vivino states refunds outside the statutory withdrawal right are at its discretion. For an App Store or Google Play purchase, the request goes to that store, and Vivino states it cannot process those refunds.
When does my Vivino Premium access actually end?
At the end of the billing period you have already paid for. Vivino's terms state that cancelling during a period leaves the features available for the rest of it and stops the renewal.
How do I cancel an App Store free trial before I’m charged?
For a trial billed by Apple, open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Select the trial, choose the cancellation option and confirm. Apple advises cancelling at least 24 hours before the trial ends to prevent renewal. Check the confirmation for your access end date. Add the trial deadline to Subex and set a reminder so you can review it in time.
How do I cancel a Google Play free trial before it renews?
Open your subscriptions in Google Play using the Google Account that started the trial. Select the plan, choose Cancel subscription and complete the confirmation steps before the trial expires. Otherwise, the paid subscription begins automatically under the offer’s terms. Uninstalling the app does not stop renewal. Keep the trial-end date in Subex and set a reminder before the first payment is due.
