How to cancel Adobe Creative Cloud subscription.

Ready to cancel Adobe Creative Cloud? Subex helps you find the right cancellation steps, keep your subscriptions in one place, and stay ahead of renewals with reminders.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Start here.

Sign in at account.adobe.com/plans, select Manage plan for the plan you want to end, then Cancel your plan. Review the details, select Continue to cancel, give a reason, then Confirm cancellation and check for Adobe’s confirmation email. Adobe’s published terms allow a full refund if you cancel most plans within 14 days of the initial purchase; after that, an annual plan carries an early termination fee of 50% of the remaining contract value.

FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE

Cancel Adobe Creative Cloud, step by step.

Bought directly from Adobe

This is the standard route for a plan bought on adobe.com. Cancelling is a multi-screen flow, and it is not finished until you see the confirmation.

  1. Sign in at account.adobe.com/plans.
  2. Select Manage plan for the plan you want to cancel.
  3. Select Cancel your plan.
  4. Check the plan details and select Continue to cancel.
  5. Give a reason for cancelling, then select Continue.
  6. Review the cancellation details, including any fee Adobe shows, and select Confirm cancellation.
  7. Check your email for Adobe’s confirmation.

Adobe shows any early termination fee on the review screen before you confirm. Read that screen carefully rather than clicking through it.

Bought through an app store or a reseller

Adobe apps bought inside an app store, or a licence sold by a reseller, are not always cancellable from account.adobe.com.

  1. Check your receipt for the seller — Adobe, Apple, Google Play or a reseller.
  2. For an app-store purchase, cancel in that store’s subscription settings.
  3. For a reseller or a teams or enterprise licence, contact the reseller or your organisation’s administrator, since Adobe’s consumer cancellation flow will not cover it.

Before you cancel.

  • Check your plan type and how long you have had it. Adobe’s terms give a full refund for most plans cancelled within 14 days of the initial purchase; after that, an annual plan attracts an early termination fee of 50% of the remaining contract value.
  • Move your files out of Creative Cloud storage first. Adobe says cloud storage drops to 5 GB after cancellation and that if you are over the limit you have 30 days to reduce usage before you could lose access to files on Adobe’s servers.
  • Export or flatten anything that depends on Adobe fonts, licensed stock assets or cloud documents, since those stop being available with the paid plan.
  • Note that Adobe Stock, Acrobat and Creative Cloud are separate subscriptions with separate cancellation pages.

What happens next?

  • You lose access to your Creative Cloud applications and most included services, but Adobe says you keep free membership benefits and your Adobe account.
  • Cloud storage is reduced to 5 GB. Adobe gives 30 days to get under the limit, after which access to some or all files on Adobe’s servers may be lost.
  • An early termination fee, if one applies, is charged rather than refunded — Adobe shows the amount on the confirmation screen before you confirm.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered.

Will I be charged a cancellation fee for Adobe Creative Cloud?

It depends on your plan and timing. Adobe’s published terms state that most plans can be cancelled within 14 days of the initial purchase for a full refund, and that cancelling an annual plan after that window incurs an early termination fee of 50% of the remaining contract value. Adobe displays the exact amount on the review screen before you confirm.

What happens to my files in Creative Cloud after I cancel?

Adobe says your cloud storage is reduced to 5 GB after cancellation, and that if you are over the limit you have 30 days to reduce usage — after which you could lose access to some or all files saved on Adobe’s servers. Download what you need before cancelling.

Can I still open my Photoshop or Illustrator files?

The files remain yours, but you lose access to the Creative Cloud applications when the plan ends, so you need another application that can open the format. Export to a widely readable format before cancelling if you might need the content later.

Why can I not cancel my Adobe plan online?

The most common causes are a teams or enterprise licence managed by an administrator, a plan bought from a reseller, or a subscription billed by an app store. Each of those is cancelled where it was bought, not at account.adobe.com.

Does cancelling delete my Adobe account?

No. Adobe says you keep your account and free membership benefits after cancelling the paid plan. Account deletion is a separate request.
