SOFTWARE & PRODUCTIVITYSubscription cancellation guide

How to cancel Photoroom subscription.

Photoroom states that you must cancel your subscription on the same platform you used to subscribe, and that it cannot cancel subscriptions on your behalf. Web subscriptions are billed through Stripe and cancelled at app.photoroom.com under Billing, then Manage your subscription, then Cancel subscription. An App Store purchase is cancelled in iOS Settings under Subscriptions, and a Google Play purchase in the Play Store under Subscriptions. Photoroom's free trial runs 7 days and it states you will be charged after it ends unless you cancel.

Before you start.

  • Establish the platform first. Photoroom names four: the web app billed through Stripe, the Apple App Store, Google Play and Shopify. It states you must cancel on the same platform you subscribed on, and that otherwise billing continues.
  • Photoroom states plainly that it cannot cancel subscriptions on your behalf, and that it cannot access Apple orders, directing billing and refund questions on those to Apple Support.
  • If you are on the trial, count the days. Photoroom states the free trial gives 7 days of free access to your chosen plan and that after the trial ends you will be charged unless you cancel. Its store listings state that subscriptions renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, which is the safer deadline to work to.
  • A trial taken on a yearly plan converts to a yearly charge. Photoroom's trial applies to the plan you chose, and its App Store listing carries yearly tiers as well as monthly ones, so a forgotten 7-day trial can become a large single charge rather than a small one.
  • Cancelling during the trial does not cut it short. Photoroom states that if you cancel a free trial you keep access until the trial ends, so there is no reason to wait.
  • Check the refund window before you cancel, because it is short and it differs by plan. Photoroom states the request must come within 7 days of your last payment, and elsewhere sets it out as 7 days for a monthly or yearly plan and 4 days for a weekly plan.
  • Paying from a different store account is a trap Photoroom documents: it states that in that case it cannot refund for the period or transfer its value to a different account.

FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE

Cancel Photoroom, step by step.

Cancel a web subscription billed through Stripe

A subscription started at photoroom.com is billed by Photoroom through Stripe, and this is the only route where the cancellation happens entirely on Photoroom's own pages.

  1. Log in at app.photoroom.com.
  2. Select the Space that holds the subscription.
  3. Open the Space menu, then Profile, then Billing. Photoroom also describes this as Manage Space, then Billing.
  4. Find the active subscription and select Manage your subscription.
  5. On the Stripe page that opens, select Cancel subscription and confirm.

If your account has more than one Space, the subscription belongs to one of them. Picking the wrong Space is the usual reason the subscription appears to be missing from the Billing page.

Cancel on iPhone or iPad

Apple bills an App Store purchase. Photoroom states that it cannot access Apple orders and directs billing and refund questions on those to Apple Support.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap your name at the top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Select Photoroom and tap Cancel Subscription.
  5. Go back into Settings, your name, Subscriptions and verify: Photoroom states the subscription should no longer appear there or should show as expired.

Photoroom asks you to verify the cancellation afterwards rather than assuming it worked, which is worth doing on a trial that is about to convert.

Cancel on Android

A purchase made in the Android app is billed by Google Play, so the Play Store settings are what stop the renewal.

  1. Open the Google Play Store app.
  2. Tap your profile icon.
  3. Select Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  4. Select Photoroom and cancel it.
  5. Return to Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions to verify the cancellation, as Photoroom instructs.

Cancel a subscription bought through Shopify

Photoroom sells through Shopify as a fourth channel. A Shopify-billed subscription will not appear in any app store list or on the Stripe billing page.

  1. Identify the charge as a Shopify one from the receipt or the app listing in your Shopify admin.
  2. Remove or cancel the Photoroom app from within your Shopify admin's apps section.
  3. Photoroom states that for a refund on this channel you should contact it from the Shopify platform.
  4. Check afterwards that no Photoroom charge remains scheduled on the Shopify billing.

What happens next?

  • Cancelling stops the renewal and leaves the current period running. Photoroom states that if you cancel a free trial you keep access until the trial ends.
  • The advanced tools stop. Photoroom describes its paid tiers as unlocking advanced AI tools, AI Fashion Models, batch editing, product videos, premium templates, faster processing and higher usage limits, all of which revert when the subscription ends.
  • Credit and usage limits drop back to the free level, and Photoroom describes processing speeds as faster on a paid plan, so exports become slower as well as more limited.
  • Premium templates stop being usable in new work. Photoroom does not state that existing designs are deleted.
  • Refunds are separate, short and platform-specific. Photoroom states the window is 7 days from your last payment, narrowing to 4 days on a weekly plan, and that Apple and Google handle their own refunds subject to their payment schedules.
  • Photoroom states that refunds are not available for API users and that a refund is not guaranteed and may be declined in cases of misuse or violations of its terms.

WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK

If you get stuck.

My trial is running out and there is no subscription to cancel in the App Store

That means Apple did not sell it to you. Photoroom bills through four channels: Stripe on the web, the App Store, Google Play and Shopify, and states you must cancel on the same platform you subscribed on. If the App Store list is empty, log in at app.photoroom.com and check the Space menu, Profile, Billing, where a Stripe subscription appears. Check the receipt email to see which of the four charged you.

I cancelled and I was charged anyway

Photoroom states it cannot cancel subscriptions on your behalf and that cancelling on the wrong platform leaves the billing running, so the first thing to check is whether the cancellation happened where the money comes from. Its instructions also ask you to verify after cancelling: on iOS the subscription should no longer appear in Settings, your name, Subscriptions, or should show as expired. If it is still active there, the cancellation did not complete.

I cannot find my subscription on the Photoroom billing page

Photoroom organises billing by Space, and the subscription belongs to one specific Space. Select the Space that holds it before opening Billing. If no Space shows a subscription, the purchase was made through a store or through Shopify instead, and the cancellation belongs there.

I paid with a different store account than the one I use

Photoroom documents this case and the answer is unhelpful but clear: it states that it cannot refund for that period or transfer its value to a different account. The subscription still has to be cancelled on the account that paid, which means signing in to that Apple ID or Google account to reach the subscription list.

I was charged for a full year after a 7-day trial

Photoroom states the free trial gives 7 days of access to your chosen plan and that you will be charged after it ends unless you cancel. If the plan you chose was yearly, the charge is yearly. The refund window is 7 days from the last payment, so a charge noticed quickly is still inside it; one noticed a fortnight later is not.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered.

How do I cancel Photoroom?

On the platform that billed you. For a web subscription: app.photoroom.com, the Space menu, Profile, Billing, Manage your subscription, then Cancel subscription on the Stripe page. For an App Store purchase: Settings, your name, Subscriptions. For Google Play: the Play Store under Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Photoroom states it cannot cancel on your behalf.

How long is the Photoroom free trial?

Photoroom states it gives 7 days of free access to your chosen plan, and that you will be charged after it ends unless you cancel. It also states that if you cancel during the trial you keep access until the trial ends, so cancelling early costs nothing.

Can I get a refund from Photoroom?

Within a short window. Photoroom states a refund request must come within 7 days of your last payment, and sets the window as 7 days for a monthly or yearly plan and 4 days for a weekly plan. It states refunds are not available for API users and are not guaranteed.

What do I lose when Photoroom Pro ends?

Photoroom describes its paid tiers as providing advanced AI tools, AI Fashion Models, batch editing, product videos, premium templates, faster processing and higher usage limits. Those revert to the free level at the end of the period you paid for. Photoroom does not state that your existing designs are deleted.
