LIFESTYLE & FAMILYSubscription cancellation guide

How to cancel Wyze subscription.

Cancel it where you bought it. On the web: go to my.wyze.com/account/plans, click Manage Plan, then under Change plan click Cancel plan, and confirm with Yes, cancel. If you subscribed inside the Wyze app, cancel it in the app: Account, Services, select the subscription, Manage, Cancel subscription. Your cameras carry on working either way. Wyze states that all Wyze Services subscriptions are non-refundable and that it will not offer prorated refunds, so the plan simply runs to the end of the billing cycle.

Before you start.

  • The cameras are not the subscription. Cam Plus adds cloud event recording and the smart detection on top of hardware that keeps streaming, detecting motion and recording to a microSD card without any plan.
  • Cancel at least 24 hours before the period rolls over. Wyze's Cam Plus terms state that you must cancel twenty-four hours in advance of the start of a new subscription period to avoid being charged for it, and give the example of a monthly plan starting on January 1 needing to be cancelled by January 30.
  • Know which channel you bought through. Wyze states that if you purchased via the Wyze Services site you can cancel it there, and that if you purchased via the Wyze app you cancel it in your phone's app store. Wyze also sells subscriptions through Amazon, which is cancelled in your Amazon memberships and subscriptions.
  • There is no refund for the unused part. Wyze states that all Wyze Services subscriptions are non-refundable, that it will not offer prorated refunds for a cancelled subscription, and that the subscription stays active until the end of its billing cycle.
  • If you only want a cheaper plan, do not cancel. Wyze recommends upgrading or downgrading your plan rather than cancelling and re-subscribing.
  • Cam Plus is sold per camera. Wyze's terms state that each Wyze Cam product you wish to enrol requires its own Cam Plus subscription, so cancelling one subscription leaves any others billing. Check the full list on your plans page before you assume you are done.

FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE

Cancel Wyze, step by step.

Cancel on the Wyze website

Use this for a subscription bought from Wyze directly. Wyze asks you to do it from a computer.

  1. From your computer, go to my.wyze.com/account/plans.
  2. Click Manage Plan next to your subscription.
  3. Under Change plan, click Cancel plan next to the subscription that you want to cancel.
  4. Click Yes, cancel followed by your plan name to confirm the cancellation.
  5. Check that the plan now shows as cancelled rather than renewing.

Wyze states that the subscription stays active until the end of the pay period, that no prorated refunds will be issued, and that it will not auto-renew.

Cancel a subscription bought in the Wyze app

This is the route people most often get wrong. Wyze sells through in-app purchase, and although the money goes through the store, Wyze documents the cancellation inside its own app rather than in the store's subscription list.

  1. Open your Wyze app.
  2. Tap Account, then Services. Select your subscription.
  3. Tap Manage.
  4. Tap Cancel subscription.
  5. You will be asked to share your reason for cancellation. Tap Cancel again.
  6. Tap Cancel anyway if prompted.

Wyze documents the same five steps for iOS and Android. Once you confirm, the cancelled subscription remains active until the end of the pay period and will not renew. If the app route fails, the subscription is also visible in your phone's store subscription settings, where cancelling stops the billing.

Cancel a subscription bought through Amazon

Wyze sells plans through Amazon as well, and those are managed in your Amazon account rather than by Wyze.

  1. Sign in to Amazon and open your account, then Memberships & Subscriptions.
  2. Find the Wyze subscription you want to cancel.
  3. Click Cancel Subscription.
  4. Follow the prompts to confirm, and keep the confirmation.

A Wyze plan bought on Amazon will not appear as cancellable on my.wyze.com, which is why the plans page can look as though it has no option for you.

What happens next?

  • The plan runs to the end of the pay period. Wyze states the subscription stays active until then and will not auto-renew, and that no prorated refund is issued.
  • The cameras keep working. Live streaming, motion detection and notifications do not depend on a subscription.
  • The Events tab stays but changes. Wyze states that your events will still appear on the Events tab without a subscription, and that if you are not a subscriber you see thumbnails on the Events tab rather than event videos.
  • Cloud recordings have their own 14 day clock. Wyze's terms describe storing recordings so you can access them for a period of 14 days from the date of the recording, and state that once you cancel, recordings remain available only until the end of that storage period. Cancelling does not extend it, and a clip already 13 days old has a day left whatever you do.
  • Backing up is your job. Wyze suggests you back up any important recordings by downloading them to your mobile device, and states that you are solely responsible for creating backups to avoid loss. Downloads are made one clip at a time in the app, so allow time if there is a lot you want.
  • You lose the cloud video and the AI. Wyze describes Cam Plus as giving motion-triggered, unlimited-length event recordings, cloud storage and smart features including Person, Package, Vehicle and Pet Detection, along with subscriber discounts. Those stop.
  • Local recording is unaffected. Wyze states that a microSD card gives continuous local recording and time lapse, with storage of up to 4 days on a 32 GB card, and that is storage you own rather than rent. It contrasts this with the 14-day cloud storage that Cam Plus provides, which it suggests as a backup if a camera is ever stolen.
  • Cam Plus Lite, where a camera has it, defaults recordings to 12 seconds no matter how they are triggered, according to Wyze.

WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK

If you get stuck.

I cancelled but I am still being charged

Check the channel. Wyze bills web purchases itself, but a subscription bought with in-app purchase runs through your phone's store and one bought on Amazon runs through Amazon, and cancelling in the wrong place changes nothing. Then check whether you finished: the in-app flow asks for a reason and then prompts again, and Wyze documents both Cancel again and Cancel anyway as steps you still have to tap. A charge covering the period you already paid for is expected rather than a failed cancellation.

My plans page does not list the subscription I am paying for

That points to a subscription Wyze does not bill. A plan bought through Amazon is managed in Amazon's Memberships & Subscriptions, and an in-app purchase is tied to the store account on the phone that bought it. It can also mean you are signed in to a second Wyze account: check which email address the receipt went to, since people commonly set up a camera on one account and subscribe on another.

My camera now only records 12-second clips

Wyze gives four causes and only one of them is the subscription. Sound-triggered recordings are always 12 seconds even with Cam Plus. Battery-powered cameras such as the Battery Cam Pro and Video Doorbell Pro cap recordings at 12 seconds by default to conserve battery. A camera with Cam Plus Lite defaults to 12 seconds however it is triggered. And a video uploaded by an automation is 12 seconds. So a short clip is not proof that a cancellation went through or failed.

I am on a free trial and cannot find where to cancel it

Wyze's Cam Plus terms state that the services automatically convert into a paid monthly subscription at the end of the free trial unless you cancel your enrolment before the end of the trial period by reaching out to support@wyze.com. That makes a trial different from a paid plan: the self-serve plans page is not necessarily the route, and an email to support is what the terms name. Send it with enough time to get a reply before the trial ends, and keep that reply.

I want the rest of my annual plan back

Wyze's answer is no, and it is published: all Wyze Services subscriptions are non-refundable, and it will not offer prorated refunds for cancelled subscriptions. The plan stays live until the billing cycle ends. If a store took the payment, ask that store instead, because Apple, Google and Amazon apply their own refund policies to charges they collected regardless of the seller's terms.

I only wanted to drop one camera or move to a cheaper tier

Cancelling is the wrong tool. Wyze recommends upgrading or downgrading your plan rather than cancelling and re-subscribing, because cancelling forfeits the rest of the paid period with no refund. Cam Plus licences are also assigned per camera, so you can move a licence between cameras rather than ending the plan.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered.

Do Wyze cameras work without a subscription?

Yes. The camera still streams live, detects motion and sends notifications, and with a microSD card it records continuously on its own. What Cam Plus adds is cloud event recording, full-length event videos and the Person, Package, Vehicle and Pet Detection.

What happens to my Wyze cloud videos when I cancel?

The event videos stop being available. Wyze states that events still appear on the Events tab without a subscription, but that a non-subscriber sees thumbnails rather than event videos. Download any clip you need before the plan lapses. Footage on a microSD card stays on the card.

Will Wyze refund an unused subscription?

No. Wyze states that all Wyze Services subscriptions are non-refundable and that it will not offer prorated refunds for a cancelled subscription, which stays active until the end of its billing cycle.

I subscribed in the Wyze app. Where do I cancel?

Wyze documents the cancellation inside its own app for in-app purchases: Account, then Services, select the subscription, Manage, Cancel subscription, then confirm through the reason prompt. The subscription also appears in your phone's store subscription settings, and cancelling there stops the billing.

Does cancelling Cam Plus delete my Wyze account?

No. Cancelling ends the plan only. Your account, cameras and their settings stay, and you can subscribe again later.

How long does Cam Plus keep cloud recordings?

Wyze describes Cam Plus as including 14-day cloud storage, against up to 4 days of local recording on a 32 GB microSD card. Once the subscription ends, the cloud side is what you stop having.
