How to cancel Club Fitness membership.

Club Fitness, the St. Louis area gym chain behind Club Elite, has a Cancel Membership page in its Member Center that links to an online Membership Cancel Form. Its membership terms also allow cancelling by certified mail, return receipt requested, to its St. Peters, MO office, or in person at any Club Fitness location, where a notice only counts once you get a written or electronic receipt. Club Fitness requires a thirty-day notice period, the annual membership fee is due if it falls inside that period, and the cancel form says one more membership fee will be billed.

Before you start.

  • Have your barcode or agreement number ready. The Club Fitness Membership Cancel Form asks for it, along with your date of birth, address, cell number, email and the club location you are cancelling.
  • Count 30 days ahead. Club Fitness requires a thirty-day notice period for termination, and its cancel form asks you to acknowledge that one more membership fee will be billed on your scheduled frequency.
  • Check your annual fee date. Club Fitness terms say you must pay the annual membership fee if it falls within the thirty-day notice period.
  • Check where you are in your agreement. The cancel form says a $75 early termination fee applies if you are still within your 12-month agreement.
  • Make sure the membership is active and paid up. Club Fitness terms say a membership must be active for a termination to be processed, and you remain responsible for remaining dues and past due amounts.

Club Fitness's Member Center has a Cancel Account section that leads to a Cancel Membership button and its online Membership Cancel Form. It is the quickest way to put a dated request in writing.

  1. Open the Club Fitness Member Center and choose Cancel Account under Club Fitness.
  2. On the cancel page, select Cancel Membership under Ending your health club membership.
  3. Fill in the Membership Cancel Form: first and last name, barcode or agreement number, date of birth, address, cell number, email and your Cancel Club Location.
  4. Read the acknowledgement about the final membership fee and any early termination fee, answer it, and select Submit.
  5. Keep a screenshot of the submission and watch for confirmation from Club Fitness.

The form's acknowledgement says remaining fees are withdrawn on the day of cancellation and that you keep club access until the cancellation process is complete.

Cancel at your club

Club Fitness membership terms let you cancel by visiting any Club Fitness location during business hours and telling the staff you intend to terminate. The terms add a condition that matters: the notice only counts if you get a receipt.

  1. Visit any Club Fitness location during business hours.
  2. Tell the staff you want to terminate your membership agreement.
  3. Do not leave without an electronic or written receipt and confirmation of termination. Club Fitness terms say an in-person notice is not valid without one.
  4. Ask for the date the thirty-day notice period ends and what will still be charged.

Cancel by mail

Club Fitness terms let you cancel in writing by certified mail, return receipt requested, to its office at 7055 Mexico Road, Suite 1210, St. Peters, MO 63376.

  1. Write a signed letter saying you are terminating your Club Fitness membership agreement, with your full name, address, barcode or agreement number and home club.
  2. Send it by certified mail, return receipt requested, to Club Fitness, 7055 Mexico Road, Suite 1210, St. Peters, MO 63376.
  3. Keep the mailing receipt, the return receipt and a copy of the letter.
  4. Allow for the thirty-day notice period from when Club Fitness receives it.

What happens next?

  • Expect one more membership fee. The Club Fitness cancel form asks you to acknowledge that one more fee will be billed on your scheduled frequency, with any remaining fees withdrawn on the day of cancellation.
  • If your annual membership fee falls inside the thirty-day notice period, Club Fitness terms say you have to pay it.
  • Club Fitness says automatic payments continue until your notice of termination is received and effective.
  • Club Fitness terms also say that non-payment of membership fees does not terminate your membership, so stopping payments is not a way to cancel.

Pausing or freezing Club Fitness.

Can I freeze my Club Fitness membership instead?

Yes. Club Fitness says you may submit a freeze request online. Its Freeze Membership Form lets you choose a freeze of 1 to 12 months, and you return by submitting an Unfreeze request. Club Fitness terms also allow a medical freeze of up to 90 days for a temporary disability with documentation.

I was charged after submitting the cancel form

Club Fitness requires a thirty-day notice period, and its cancel form says one more membership fee will be billed on your scheduled frequency. A charge inside that period is expected. If a charge appears after it, contact Club Fitness Customer Care with your submission date.

I was charged the annual fee right after cancelling

Club Fitness terms say you are required to pay the annual membership fee if it falls within the thirty-day notice period. Check the date your annual fee is billed against the date your notice was received.

I cancelled in person but Club Fitness has no record of it

Club Fitness terms say a notice of termination submitted in person is not valid unless you receive an electronic or written receipt and confirmation of termination. If you did not get one, submit the online Membership Cancel Form or send a certified letter now, and keep proof.

I was charged a $75 fee

The Club Fitness cancel form says a $75 early termination fee applies if you are still within your 12-month agreement. Club Fitness terms add that dues and fees must be current and the 30-day notice still applies.

I used the contact form to cancel and nothing happened

Club Fitness says membership cancellations or membership freezes cannot be accepted through its contact form. Use the Membership Cancel Form, a club visit with a receipt, or certified mail instead.

Can I cancel my Club Fitness membership online?

Can I cancel Club Fitness if I move away?

Club Fitness terms let you terminate if you permanently move more than 25 driving miles from your club, with proof of relocation, for a termination charge. Illinois members have separate rules under state law.

Can I transfer my Club Fitness membership to someone else?

No. Club Fitness terms say you may not sell, assign or transfer your rights or obligations under the agreement.

Is Club Elite cancelled the same way?

Club Fitness's Member Center lists Club Elite and Club Fitness separately, each with its own Freeze/Unfreeze Account and Cancel Account links. Use the one for the membership you have.
