HEALTH & FITNESSMembership cancellation guide

How to cancel Crunch Fitness membership.

How you cancel a Crunch Fitness membership depends on your club: Crunch states that cancellation policies vary by location based on state and local guidelines, so there is no single national rule to follow. Crunch says some clubs offer online cancellation through your Member Portal under Manage Membership, and that otherwise you contact your club directly by phone or in person. On the notice period, Crunch says the required cancellation notice prior to your next billing date may vary based on the terms of your Membership Agreement. Your agreement and your home club decide the outcome, so confirm both before your next billing date rather than after it.

Before you start.

  • Read your Membership Agreement first. Crunch says the required cancellation notice prior to your next billing date may vary based on the terms of your Membership Agreement, which means your own document is the only place the deadline actually appears.
  • Identify your home club. Crunch directs members to contact their club directly and says club numbers are on its locations page, so the cancellation is handled by that specific gym rather than centrally.
  • Check whether your club offers the online route before travelling. Crunch says some clubs offer online cancellation through your Member Portal under Manage Membership, which means it exists at some locations and not at others.
  • Work out your next billing date and count backwards by the notice period in your agreement. A cancellation submitted inside that window generally still allows one more charge.
  • Look for the annual fee separately. Crunch describes annual fees ranging up to $89 at standard locations, and that fee runs on its own schedule rather than with your monthly dues.
  • Check which plan you are on. Crunch describes month-to-month memberships as no commitment, cancel at any time plans, and says some locations offer discounted rates with annual commitments or paid-in-full options. A commitment plan does not behave like a month-to-month one.

FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE

Cancel Crunch Fitness, step by step.

Cancel in the Member Portal, if your club offers it

Crunch says some clubs offer online cancellation through the Member Portal. This is the quickest route where it exists, and it leaves a record automatically. It is not available at every location.

  1. Sign in to your Crunch Member Portal.
  2. Open the Manage Membership section, which is where Crunch says the online cancellation option sits.
  3. Follow the cancellation prompts through to a confirmation rather than stopping at an offer screen.
  4. Save the confirmation, including the date and any stated effective date.
  5. If Manage Membership shows no cancellation option, your club does not offer this route. Use the phone or in person route instead.

The absence of the option is information rather than a fault: Crunch only says some clubs offer it. Do not keep hunting for a hidden button, switch routes.

Cancel through your club by phone or in person

This is the route Crunch names for everyone else. Crunch says to contact your club directly by phone or in person, and that you can find your club's number on the locations page.

  1. Find your home club's phone number on the Crunch locations page.
  2. Call or visit and say clearly that you want to cancel the membership, not freeze or downgrade it.
  3. Ask what notice your Membership Agreement requires before the next billing date, and what date the cancellation takes effect.
  4. Ask whether the annual fee is due before that effective date.
  5. Ask for written confirmation, by email if possible, and note the date and the name of whoever handled it.

Ask specifically whether anything further is needed from you. Some locations treat a phone call as the start of the process rather than the whole of it.

Submit a request through the Crunch contact form

Crunch also points members to its online contact form. This is useful when the club does not answer the phone, and it creates a dated written record of the request.

  1. Open the contact form linked from the Crunch help pages.
  2. Give your full name, the email and phone number on the account, your home club and your membership number if you have one.
  3. State plainly that you are requesting cancellation of the membership, and include the date.
  4. Keep a copy of what you sent and any acknowledgement you receive.
  5. Follow up with the club if nothing is confirmed before your next billing date approaches.

A submitted form is a request, not yet a cancellation. Treat the confirmation, not the submission, as the thing that ends the billing.

What happens next?

  • The membership normally runs to the end of the period already paid for. Cancelling stops the next charge rather than refunding the current one.
  • The annual fee sits on a separate yearly cycle from your monthly dues. Crunch describes annual fees up to $89 at standard locations, so check whether yours falls due before your cancellation takes effect.
  • Watch your statement for two full billing cycles. A cancellation logged at the club but not applied to the billing looks identical to a successful one until the next charge lands.
  • Deleting the Crunch app does not cancel anything. The membership agreement sits with the club and is unaffected by what is on your phone.
  • If you rejoin later, expect the current joining terms and a new enrolment fee rather than your old rate.

WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK

If you get stuck.

There is no cancel option in my Member Portal

That is expected at many locations. Crunch only says that some clubs offer online cancellation through the Member Portal under Manage Membership, which means the option is club by club rather than universal. Its absence is not a fault to troubleshoot. Contact your club directly by phone or in person, which is the route Crunch names for everyone else, or submit the online contact form so that your request is dated in writing.

I cancelled but was charged one more time

Compare the date you cancelled against your next billing date and the notice period in your Membership Agreement. Crunch says the required notice prior to your next billing date may vary based on the terms of your agreement, so a cancellation inside that window typically still allows one more charge to go through. That charge is usually the expected outcome rather than a failed cancellation. If the cancellation was in well before the notice period and a charge still appeared, take your dated confirmation to the club.

A different Crunch club says it cannot help me

Your agreement belongs to your home club, and that is the location Crunch points members to. Another branch can generally look up your home club's number but cannot end the agreement for you. Get the home club's direct number from the Crunch locations page and deal with that location, or use the contact form so your request is recorded centrally with a date on it.

I was told I cannot cancel because I am on a commitment plan

Crunch describes month-to-month memberships as no commitment, cancel at any time plans, and says some locations offer discounted rates with annual commitments or paid-in-full options. If you took a discounted rate, you may be on the second kind, which behaves differently. Ask the club to tell you which plan you are on, when the commitment period ends, and what ending it early costs. The answer should match what your Membership Agreement says rather than only what you are told at the desk.

The annual fee arrived after I cancelled

The annual fee is billed once a year on its own schedule, separate from monthly dues, so it frequently lands close to a cancellation and surprises people. Look back through twelve months of statements to find when yours is charged. If it was billed after your cancellation took effect, raise it with the club with your dated confirmation. If it fell due before that date, it is generally treated as owed.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered.

Can I cancel my Crunch membership online?

Sometimes. Crunch says some clubs offer online cancellation through your Member Portal under Manage Membership. Whether yours does depends on the location, because Crunch states that cancellation policies vary by location based on state and local guidelines.

How much notice does Crunch need before my next billing date?

Crunch says the required cancellation notice prior to your next billing date may vary based on the terms of your Membership Agreement. There is no single national number, so check your own agreement or ask your home club directly.

Does cancelling stop the Crunch annual fee?

Only if the cancellation takes effect before the fee falls due. Crunch describes annual fees up to $89 at standard locations, charged on their own yearly cycle rather than alongside monthly dues, so ask the club for the exact date yours is billed.

Can I cancel at any Crunch location?

Crunch directs members to contact their club directly, so in practice the club that holds your membership is the one to deal with. Its phone number is on the Crunch locations page.

Is a Crunch membership month-to-month?

It depends what you signed up for. Crunch describes month-to-month memberships as no commitment, cancel at any time plans, and says some locations offer discounted rates with annual commitments or paid-in-full options instead.

Does deleting the Crunch app cancel my membership?

No. The membership is an agreement with your club and the billing runs from that agreement. Removing the app changes nothing about either.
