In this guide
Before you start.
- The deadline is the thing that decides the outcome. Shahid's terms require you to cancel no less than one full day before the renewal date and before the next access period is due to start. A cancellation entered on the renewal day itself does not stop that charge.
- Identify the access plan you are on. Shahid sells subscription plans directly, ad-funded plans, plans bundled by third parties with their own mobile or broadband products, voucher and coupon plans, and plans through Apple and Google Play. Each of those is cancelled in a different place.
- Shahid's access periods run in fixed lengths of seven days, thirty days, three months or twelve months. A weekly plan comes round far faster than people expect, and a twelve-month plan renews only once, which is easy to miss entirely.
- A coupon or promotional period converts into a paid subscription unless you act. Shahid's terms say that when a coupon period ends, the payment method is automatically charged the current retail subscription fee, and that the full fee becomes immediately due when a promotion expires unless you cancel first.
- Billing dates drift by design. Shahid says billing cycles follow the calendar date you first subscribed, that the number of days between billing dates will not always be identical, and that where the corresponding calendar date does not exist in a month the renewal is processed on the closest applicable date.
- Cancelling does not get money back. Shahid's terms state that no part of the subscription fee will be refunded unless applicable law requires it, and that a suspended or terminated plan earns no refund, credit or exchange for unused time.
FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel Shahid, step by step.
Cancel a subscription Shahid bills directly
This is the route when you subscribed on shahid.mbc.net or in the app with your own payment method. Shahid's terms point at the Help Center section of the service for the cancellation directions.
- Sign in to Shahid with the account that holds the subscription, on the web or in the app.
- Open your account or profile area and find the subscription or plan section.
- Follow the cancellation directions in the Help Center section of the service.
- Complete the cancellation no less than one full day before the renewal date, as the terms require.
- Keep the confirmation. Shahid says access continues to the end of the access period you have paid for.
If you cannot find the option, check first whether a store or an operator billed you: in those cases Shahid's own account area has nothing to cancel.
Cancel an Apple subscription
Shahid lists third-party mobile payment services such as iTunes and Google Play among its access plan types. Where Apple took the payment, Apple runs the cancellation.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name at the top of the screen.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select the Shahid subscription from the list. The store sells several, including VIP, VIP Mobile, VIP Sports and Ultimate, so check which one you hold.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
Apple's own renewal rules apply here as well as Shahid's: cancel at least a day before the renewal date so the charge does not go through.
Cancel a Google Play subscription
Where Google Play billed you, the subscription lives in the Play Store and Shahid cannot end it for you.
- Open the Google Play Store app on the Android device you subscribed on.
- Tap your profile icon in the top right.
- Select Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select the Shahid subscription.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts to confirm.
Google states that it cannot cancel a subscription on your behalf, so the account holder has to complete this themselves.
Cancel a plan bundled with a mobile or broadband provider
Across the region Shahid is commonly sold as part of a telecom package, and its terms cover this case directly: access plans offered by third parties bundled with the purchase of their own products and services, such as your mobile or broadband service. Neither the Shahid app nor the Shahid website can stop that billing.
- Contact the mobile or broadband provider that carries the Shahid bundle, through its app, its account portal or its customer service line.
- Ask to remove the Shahid add-on, or to cancel the package that includes it.
- Ask the provider to confirm the date the Shahid access ends, since it follows their billing cycle rather than Shahid's.
- Check afterwards that you do not also hold a second, directly billed Shahid subscription on the same email address.
Shahid's terms state that it is not responsible for the products and services provided by such third parties, and that if your account or subscription with that third party ceases or is terminated for any reason, your Shahid access plan and access period terminate with it.
What happens next?
- Cancelling stops the renewal. Shahid says you continue to have access to the service until the end of the access period you have paid for, and the cancellation applies from the end of that period.
- No money comes back. Shahid states that no part of the subscription fee will be refunded unless applicable law requires it, and that any refund required by law is made only through the original payment method.
- The same applies to a suspension or termination. Shahid says you receive no refund, credit or exchange for unused time, licence or subscription fees, or content and data associated with the plan.
- Shahid also warns that an expired payment method does not end your liability: it says it will continue to charge you and that you remain fully responsible for the amounts due, which it may pursue through collection companies, law firms or arbitration.
WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK
If you get stuck.
I cancelled on the renewal day and was charged anyway
Shahid's terms set the deadline at no less than one full day before the renewal date, and before the next access period is due to start. A cancellation on the day itself falls inside the window where the renewal has already been authorised. There is no discretion published around this, and the same terms rule out a refund for the period that then runs.
Shahid came with my mobile plan and there is no cancel option in the app
There is not meant to be one. Shahid's terms cover bundled access plans sold by third parties with their own mobile or broadband products, and say Shahid is not responsible for those products and services. The operator holds the billing relationship, so only the operator can stop the charge, and Shahid's terms add that if your subscription with that third party ends for any reason, your Shahid access ends too.
My free trial or coupon turned into a paid subscription
Shahid's terms describe this as designed behaviour rather than an error. For a coupon, once the coupon period ends the payment method is automatically charged the current retail subscription fee. For a promotion, the full subscription fee becomes immediately due on expiry unless you cancelled before it ended. The terms say the way out is to cancel before the end of the access period, under the same one-day rule.
My renewal date moved by a day or two
Shahid documents this. It says billing cycles follow the calendar date you first subscribed, that a cycle's length varies with the number of days in each month, and that where the corresponding calendar date does not exist in a given month the renewal is processed on the closest applicable date. Count back one full day from the actual renewal date shown on your account, not from a fixed date in your head.
I have more than one Shahid subscription
This is easy to create because Shahid can be reached through a direct subscription, a store, a bundle with an operator and a single sign-on account from a third-party application, all under different billing. Each one is cancelled where it is billed, and cancelling one has no effect on the others. Check your statements for the payer behind each charge before assuming you have finished.
Still not cancelled?Common reasons a subscription will not cancel How to cancel an app subscription
GOOD TO KNOW
Questions, answered.
How do I cancel Shahid VIP?
Cancel wherever the subscription is billed. For a subscription Shahid bills directly, follow the cancellation directions in the Help Center section of the service. For Apple: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, the Shahid subscription, Cancel Subscription. For Google Play: Play Store, profile icon, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, the Shahid subscription, Cancel subscription. For a plan bundled with a mobile or broadband provider, contact that provider.
How long before renewal do I have to cancel Shahid?
Shahid's terms require cancelling no less than one full day before the renewal date, and before the next access period is due to start, for the recurring payment method not to be charged.
Can I get a refund from Shahid?
Shahid's terms say no part of the subscription fee will be refunded unless applicable law requires it, in which case the refund is made only through the original payment method. It also says no refund, credit or exchange is given for unused time when a plan is suspended or terminated. A charge made by Apple or Google Play is a separate matter, decided by that store under its own policy.
Does cancelling Shahid end my access immediately?
No. Shahid says you keep access until the end of the access period you have paid for, and the cancellation takes effect from the end of that period.
What are the Shahid access periods?
Shahid's terms list access periods of seven days, thirty days, three months or twelve months, and an unlimited period for ad-funded plans subject to usage rights. The plans available to you depend on your geographical location and device.
Does deleting the Shahid app cancel the subscription?
No. The subscription sits with whoever bills you, whether that is Shahid, a store or a telecom provider, and removing the app does not reach any of them.
