STREAMINGSubscription cancellation guide

How to cancel AMC+ subscription.

AMC+ asks where you subscribed before it gives you steps, because the answer changes completely. For a direct subscription, use a computer and web browser, not the app: go to amcplus.com/account/subscription, click Subscription, and click Cancel. If Apple, Google Play, Roku, Samsung, Fire TV, Prime Video Channels or Verizon +play bills you, AMC+ cannot cancel it and you have to go there instead. If your AMC+ came free with Spectrum or DirecTV, there is no AMC+ charge to cancel at all.

Before you start.

  • Work out who bills you before you start. Check the merchant name on the statement: an Apple, Google, Roku, Samsung, Amazon or Verizon line means the plan is theirs, not AMC+'s.
  • AMC+ states the direct route needs a computer and web browser rather than the app.
  • Check whether you are also paying for Shudder separately. AMC Networks sells both, AMC+ carries Shudder content, and two charges side by side is common.
  • AMC+ publishes a page on complimentary AMC+ access for Spectrum and DirecTV customers. If that is how you get it, no AMC+ subscription exists to cancel.
  • Cancelling before the next renewal date is what stops the next charge. A cancellation made after it does not reverse the one that just went through.

FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE

Cancel AMC+, step by step.

Cancel an AMC+ subscription billed directly

This is the route for anyone who signed up on amcplus.com. AMC+ is specific that this has to be done in a browser rather than in the app.

  1. Use a computer and web browser, not the app.
  2. Go to www.amcplus.com/account/subscription, or find the gear icon in the menu to reach the Account page.
  3. Click Subscription. AMC+ states the Subscription tab shows your plan, renewal date and status.
  4. Click Cancel and work through any confirmation.
  5. Note the renewal date the tab showed you, so you know which charge the cancellation was meant to stop.

Read the renewal date on that tab before cancelling. It is the clearest record of which billing period you have already paid for.

Cancel an AMC+ subscription billed by Apple

A signup made inside the AMC+ iOS app is an Apple subscription, and it never appears on the AMC+ account page.

  1. On an iOS device: open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, select AMC+, select Cancel Subscription at the bottom of the page, then select Confirm.
  2. On a computer: open the App Store signed in with your Apple ID, click your name in the bottom left, click Account Settings, scroll to the Manage section, select Manage next to Subscriptions, select Edit next to AMC+, then Cancel Subscription and Confirm.

AMC+ states that if you do not see AMC+ in your subscriptions, you may be signed in with the wrong Apple ID, and to try another one if you have it.

Cancel an AMC+ subscription billed by Google Play

A signup in the Android app bills through Google Play.

  1. On an Android device: go to subscriptions in Google Play, select AMC+, tap Cancel subscription, and follow the instructions.
  2. On a computer: go to subscriptions in Google Play, click Manage next to AMC+, click Cancel subscription, select a reason in the confirmation pop-up, then click Continue.

AMC+ states that if AMC+ is not in your subscriptions list, you may be signed in with the wrong Google account.

Cancel AMC+ bought through Amazon

Amazon sells AMC+ in two different shapes, and they cancel in different places. AMC+ says so itself: if Amazon bills you, there are two ways to subscribe and watch.

  1. Added as a channel in Prime Video: go to Manage Your Prime Video Channels and select Prime Video Channels, find AMC+, select Cancel Channel and confirm.
  2. Subscribed in the AMC+ app on Fire TV, a Firestick or a Kindle: go to Your Account, select Your Apps under Digital content and devices, select Your Subscriptions under Manage, and cancel there.

The quick test is where AMC+ plays. A Prime Video channel plays inside Prime Video; a Fire TV app subscription plays in the AMC+ app.

Cancel an AMC+ subscription billed by Roku

A Roku signup bills through Roku, and Roku frames a cancellation as turning off auto-renew.

  1. On a computer: sign in to my.roku.com and go to My subscriptions, select AMC+ under Active subscriptions, select Manage subscription, then select Turn off auto-renew.
  2. On a Roku device: press the Home button, highlight the AMC+ app, press the Star button, select Manage subscription, then select Turn off auto-renew.

AMC+ states that turning off auto-renew is the cancellation, and that you keep access until the end of the current billing cycle.

Cancel AMC+ sold through Verizon +play

Verizon resells AMC+ inside +play, and that subscription is managed entirely in the Verizon account. This is the partner route people most often miss, because nothing in AMC+ points to it.

  1. From a web browser, sign in to My Verizon.
  2. From the My Verizon home, navigate to Account, then +play.
  3. Click Manage at the top.
  4. In the Active section, click Manage below the AMC+ subscription.
  5. In the Manage section, click Cancel subscription, review the information, then click Remove.

Cancel an AMC+ subscription billed by Samsung

A signup made on a Samsung TV bills through the Samsung account.

  1. On a computer: visit samsungcheckout.com, sign in with your Samsung account, select the Subscriptions tab in the Purchase History menu, find the subscription and select Unsubscribe.
  2. On the TV: go to your Samsung account through the TV's settings, then Payment Info, then Subscriptions on 2019 to 2024 models or Purchase History on 2015 to 2018 models, and cancel from there.

AMC+ notes that if the Payment Info or Subscriptions menu does not appear after signing in, the TV needs a software update from Menu, then Support, then Software Update.

What happens next?

  • Access runs to the end of the billing cycle you have already paid for on the routes that say so, including Roku, where AMC+ states you keep access after turning off auto-renew until the cycle ends.
  • Cancelling does not delete the AMC+ account, its profiles or its watchlist.
  • If Shudder is a separate charge on your statement, it survives an AMC+ cancellation and needs its own.
  • AMC+ publishes a separate contact list for DISH, Sling, Comcast Xfinity, DirecTV and YouTube TV, which is where a package-level AMC+ has to be dealt with.

WHEN IT DOES NOT WORK

If you get stuck.

There is no cancel option in the AMC+ app

For a direct subscription there is not meant to be one: AMC+ states the route is a computer and web browser, at amcplus.com/account/subscription. If the web account page also has no cancel control, the plan is billed by a partner, and the merchant name on your statement names which one.

AMC+ is not in my Apple, Google or Roku subscriptions list

AMC+ gives the same answer for all three: you are probably signed in with the wrong account, and it suggests trying another Apple ID, Google account or Roku account if you have one. If none of them show it, the subscription is direct or was bought through Amazon or Verizon instead.

I have AMC+ free through Spectrum or DirecTV but I am also being charged

Those are two different things running at once. AMC+ publishes a page on complimentary access for Spectrum and DirecTV customers, and a complimentary account carries no AMC+ charge. If money is leaving your account, it belongs to a separate subscription you signed up for yourself, and cancelling it does not affect the complimentary access.

I cancelled AMC+ but Shudder is still charging me

Shudder is a separate AMC Networks subscription with its own billing, even though AMC+ includes Shudder content. Cancelling one does nothing to the other. Check your statement for two lines and cancel each on whichever platform sold it.

My AMC+ came from Verizon and nothing in AMC+ will cancel it

That is correct behaviour. A Verizon +play subscription is managed in My Verizon: Account, then +play, then Manage, then Manage below the subscription, then Cancel subscription and Remove. AMC+ has no control over it, and the AMC+ account page will never show it.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered.

How do I cancel AMC+?

For a direct subscription, use a computer and web browser, go to amcplus.com/account/subscription, click Subscription, and click Cancel. If Apple, Google, Roku, Samsung, Amazon or Verizon bills you, cancel it in that account instead.

Why does AMC+ ask where I subscribed?

Because the cancellation happens wherever the money is collected. AMC+ is sold through its own site, Apple, Google Play, Roku, Samsung, Fire TV, Prime Video Channels and Verizon +play, and only the direct route is cancellable from AMC+ itself.

Does AMC+ include Shudder, and do I need both?

AMC+ carries Shudder content, and they are separate subscriptions with separate billing. Two charges on one statement means two subscriptions, and cancelling AMC+ leaves a standalone Shudder plan running.

Does cancelling AMC+ stop my access straight away?

Not on the routes AMC+ documents. For a Roku subscription it states that turning off auto-renew is the cancellation and access continues to the end of the current billing cycle. Check the renewal date shown on the AMC+ Subscription tab for a direct plan.
